  1. Well, I guess this would be OK for a one day visit to MK,(except for the fact that it doesn't have enough spaces to be a full bingo card...) but otherwise kind of wimpy.  Why so many free spaces?  At least put something from at least one sit-down restaurant on there.

I say the Fiends can come up with a card (for each park, of course) that would be wayyyyy better than this.   ;)

  2. I'm still reading along, too.

And enjoying all aspects of your report, especially since we just moved our sophomore DD into her dorm last Thursday AM.

She's in a 2 person suite that comes with a mini fridge, microwave, table and 2 chairs, and a private bath.  My first comment was that she's not getting a $130 shower curtain. :)  Although I must say, her room is nowhere near as decorated as either of your girls'.

As others have said, I don't know how you and Mrs TCD managed to move all 3 in such a short amount of time.

Oh, and good luck to FSU on Monday when they come to the 'Burgh for the first game.  We'll be watching it on TV.  Neither of my kids get season tickets.  After all those high school football games (they were band nerds) they don't feel like going to games anymore.  Oh well..

  3. I am loving this thread.  I've been "doing research" for about a year now, and keep changing my mind over what I want.

The first obstacle was getting the DH on board.  He's a boy scout camper, ie., if it's not in a tent, it's not camping. LOL but I think I may have him convinced that a small trailer would be a good idea.  We even went to the RV show last January.  Unfortunately small trailers were not in abundance.

Anyway, on my daily look thru craigslist today, this showed up:

    http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/rvs/4006017354.html

Has anybody ever had or seen one of these?  It has never shown up in any of the looking I've done.  It does look interesting though.

  4. I've been really enjoying this trip report, as usual.

It really is making me want to do a cruise!

We've done 2 cruises over the years, but never a Disney one.

I've even done a Mississippi cruise with my mom, now that's a different experience.

Anyway, I just received the AllEars newsletter, and wouldn't you know it, one of their News Bites for this week says that

Shorts are now allowed at dinner in the 3 main dining rooms.  I guess those guys on your cruise were just ahead of the curve. :)

  5. And then, what will happen when the machine malfunctions, and it suddenly decides to not be able to read any of the chips.........

(because you just know that is going to happen)

REVOLT in the food court would be my guess...

We have bought the mugs on 3 of our past trips and felt they were worth it, mostly as souvenirs.  The old "fat" mug from CSR is my preferred camping mug.

Unfortunately we never stayed at the Fort when they had resort specific mugs :(

  6. Thanks for another exciting, inspiring and enjoyable trip report+.

We packed our youngest off for freshman year almost a year ago.  Her room was no where near as big as the one twin #2 has!  Next year she'll be in a room with a private bath---no way I'm letting her see that shower curtain!  Her future roommate is not a "Disney freak" so I guess I might be lucky!

You never did say how much that curtain cost.  My guess is $99.95.  Hopefully they figured NO ONE would pay over $100 for a shower curtain. LOL

Congratulation on the next phase of your life.  Empty nesters.  You may start to enjoy it.

  7. It's half in Charlotte, NC and half in Rock HIll, SC.   You may want to consider Cedar Point in OH since it is the same company and would be much closer to you.   :)

I think Carowinds may be Coaster Central.  If I looked at the website correctly there are 10.  Not including water rides and other thrill rides.

    Thanks

Yeah, Cedar Point is the closest big park around, and we've been there a few times, but after watching those Travel Channel shows on roller coasters, you know, it sometimes makes you want to go try them all!   But for this year, Kennywood will be the only one.

Can't wait to see how your trip went.

  8. What about when you go to get fastpasses for your family from the machines, you will have to take everyone's wristband, right?  So then, you'll have to wear like 3 or 4 wristbands, or find another place to stash them, and try not to lose them :/

Doesn't seem to make things any easier.   Will these wristbands hold up to being taken on and off a couple of times every day?  I guess we'll find out....

  9. How far in advance do they announce the discounts?

We're trying to plan for a May 2014 trip, and right now I'm just using the 2013 rack rates listed.  If I can "assume" a 20% discount, it would make planning that extra day more agreeable for my DH.    I really want to get a ressie made, and buy tickets from UT before they run out of the 2013 ones.

  10. Oh yes, the Hipster.

I have it in Plum petals (I think that's what it's called.)  We have an outlet one exit up I-79 from my in-laws permanent camp, so we get there as often as we can.  Like the day before Memorial Day.  When everything in the store is 50% off of their outlet price.  This year I got the Little Flap Hipster in Portobello Road. (and there goes that song in my head again...)  That makes 5 purses a wallet and a couple of other misc items of Vera.....  Never pay retail price. Always outlet or at least from the website.  They have sales all the time online.

I love your pictures so far!   Although it looks like you could have probably used a 4th for riding.  I'll gladly stow away next time to join you!   :P
