  1. I can't believe no one was fishin' in my spot. I'm interested in hearing/seeing how you did in the park(s) on 4 hours sleep and a bike ride kick start.
  2. The only brewer I recognized in that selection was Saranac. They put out a "Trail Mix" that I really enjoy. One of them is called "Black Forest" and is one of my fav's.
  3. Well done. Definitely a winner, TCD. I see that I have some catch-up reading to do, and some catch-up posting as well. I have to get this JR moniker off my avatar. And I thought "NEW" was bad.
  4. I own one called WHATADAY Totepack and Cooler in One. You want me to bring that along as well so MD has something ELSE to yell/laugh at me about bringing too much stuff. You must know that one of the MD motto's is: "LESS IS MORE". Maybe next trip.
  5. I think I heard that mix on a commercial: Tea & Morgan.....for the people.....offices, Tampa.
  6. Downed one of the Hex's this evening along side a heaping bowl of white chicken chili. It was a perfect companion.
  7. Hey, I only brought 10 bottles of water, plus the 2 DIZ cups which I conveniently refilled in the snack bar area by the pool. Unfortunately, I left half the skin from the bottoms of my feet on that pool deck on the way to the beverage station. The planked walkway by the geiser even left grill marks on the little remaining skin still clinging to to bottoms of my feet..... did someone ask, "how hot was it?"
  8. BSF a Fort Fourth. Great update, my fiendish friend.
  9. Sorry, I can't handle the pumpkin ales or whatever else they are pumpkin-izing in the beer isle. Tried it, don't like it.
  10. However, Mr. Adams could not quite squeeze out the two bottles of Magic Hat HEX Octoberfest that had also staked a claim. Cheers, my fine feathered fiends.
  11. I just picked up a 6-er of Octoberfest at Total Wine this weekend, and believe it or not, I haven't sunk my teeth into one yet. Tomorrow is another day and there are several chillin' in the ice box. I'm not a fan of 'wheat' beers, but the lemon sounds intriguing. BTW, those Octoberfesters are sitting between a couple of Boston Lagers and a couple of Boston Ales. The Patriot Brewer has claimed the majority of the prime real estate on my beer shelf.
  12. Wow, how 'bout some bread to go with that garlic butter? And toasted perfectly. Except for the slight spillage on the edge of the plate, I'm thinking magazine cover for sure. Tasty post, indeed.
  13. My daughter is going crazy with recipes she finds on Pinterest. Most of them look REALLY tasy. I'm sure we'll be trying them soon.
  14. Dang, I thought you said, "Toga". I thought there was a Toga Party at the Polynesian. Guess I'll settle for toast. Disney sent us the recipe for Sweet Potato Pancakes that we had at the PORiverside. Tried 'em on our own and loved 'em. Thanks for sharing and leggo my eggo.
  15. Truth be told, I, the Master of Bass, am witness to the fact that MD's definition of "burnable object" extends WAY beyond the boundaries of wikipedia. And don't get me started on "smoke and stinky".
  16. MD, when I/we go Fortin' again, I'm gonna let you ghost write my TR. And how 'bout that sunshine pic at the fishin' hole? Wow, that has a "Heart of Jesus" glow to it, doesn't it? Thanks for including the fish pics. Those were some beautiful bluegills that the kids caught. Will's bass was a little over a pound. That last bass I got behind the site was over 2 pounds. I should have put my Sam Adams next to it to give some perspective, since no one was there to share my conquest. Oh, and the lady that opened up a can of whoop-ass on you, she's the one who called the popo on the site with t
  17. Metal Dad and I have sound-activated lights to add to TCD's disco dance party. As long as we're at it, we'll bring the mirror ball, too. Personally, I think dry ice is too expensive. I've been freezing water in used milk jugs and other larger fluid containers to create my own "blocks" of ice for the trip. I brought half dozen or so on the July 4th trip and they did OK. PS > We also have a real, full sized casket (empty, but satin-lined) if that TCD disco party is in October.
  18. As for the chocolate laced beer, I'll pass on the next round. Once he tasted it, MD poured me the lion's share. Notice how he blamed the kids for pulling him away from the Terrapin Moo-Hoo, to which I say "boo hoo". However, the Milk Stout from Left Hand was utterly delicious (you knew that was coming). Now for the burgers and brats. To those I give a hearty fiendish salute to Maestro MD, who plays the Paul Jr grill like a virtuoso. I think he talks to it, like the guy who talked to his Billy Baroo putter in Caddyshack, except, of course, MD says, "Paulie, Paulie, Paulie, Paulie".
  19. First, I must clear up the mystery guest photo. This, my fine feathered Fiends, is the nephew of the gentleman who was one of the lead designers of the FW Railroad. That's right folks. He just happened to be driving by as William and I were pulling in one of those 2 bass and he took the photo. We got to chatting about the fort and exploring and I just happened to mention my good friend Metal Dad's over-the-top interest in River Country as well as the railroad. Well "railroad" is the term that opened the door to his connection to the family, his uncle, whose family has had an engineering f
  20. Almost forgot, one of my fav's is from Sam's Club. You know those giant flame roasted chickens that look like they're on steroids? $6 for almost 2 pounds of fresh cooked chicken is a pretty good deal in my book. I bring it home, chill it and the next morning, I strip that carcass clean and it easily fills one of those big ziplocs (more than half, at least). The skin and fat make excellent bait for those swimming critters in the FW canals, bluegills, sunfish, catfish and even turtles, unfortunately.
  21. A tip for those of you who know ahead of time that they won't have time to defrost: I have several large, deep, plastic bowls that can fit inside my crockpot (smaller diameter). When I start the freezing process with the ziplocs, I put the ziploc into the bowl and then in the freezer to shape the meal for the pot. I have had to "bust it up" in the past to get it in the pot. Once it's mostly frozen, I remove it from the bowl since it is no longer needed. It does take up a little more space in the freezer, but I don't like bringing my meat cleaver and small sledge hammer on camping trips.
  22. Truth be told, the crock pot and I have been doing this for some time. For the July 4th trip with Metal Dad and crew, all 3 of our dinners (main courses) were frozen just like you recommended. Gallon size ziploc works great. Also, I may have skipped seeing this in earlier posts, but for camping, bringing crockpot liners or x-large oven bags saves on clean up.
  23. That sushi has peaked my interest in more ways than one. First, I really like sushi. Second, I can slap some on a hook and fish for more. How cool is that? Oh, and the pink drink, dude you almost had to give up your man card.
