  1. I dug through the TCD archives, and found a photo of the little sign on the stumps in the 2000 loop giving instructions on how to dispose of waste water:

    That's it.

    That's all they tell anyone.

And, there aren't even signs on the 1500 loop.

Maybe I could save myself a lot of trouble and just use the canal over there?

Thanks for the pic and the info Andrew. It's about as clear as mud isn't it? :rofl3:

I guess we'll just do what we normally do, we'll wash dishes at the site in my tubs and then dump the water in the "big" sink.

  2. I have always heard that it is against the law to dump grey water on the ground in Florida. I have never seen that law in writing, but if you visit a State park in Florida, that is what they say. But, here at the Fort, the Idiot Managers do nothing to educate the guests about proper waste water disposal. Since I am normally on a partial loop, I always see folks washing dishes and dumping the waste water on the ground. There are little signs on the utility posts in the 2000 loop saying to dispose of waste water properly, but no signs of any kind on the 1500 loop.

    HIJACK!!

I edited the quote...but in all seriousness...is there somewhere to dispose of grey water near/on the partial loops? Most of the campgrounds we frequent here at home have a "dishwashing station" at one or more of the comfort stations. I didn't notice anything when we were at FW this past January but since we were using Donnie's camper and my mom had their's we weren't really looking for a place to do dishes.

    :thank-you-smiley3:

  3. Jason...beautiful pictures!! I was right along there with you until you came out of Oklahoma. Every other year or so we make the 26 hour drive to my in-laws in NW Oklahoma, we tend to follow the same route, RT81 in VA to I40 in TN, then on to AK (which I HATE driving in). I would LOVE to drive out west with my kids...who knows maybe we will eventually. :rofl3:

Oh and P.S. - I think its great that you are tent camping along the way. We tent camp but I cannot imagine taking our gear for a road trip of that magnitude. :camp1:

  4. I'm in the same boat as you Lorna...my Kindle's screen went all funky. I still don't know what happened to it. However, I do know that I will be buying another as I am now going through Kindle withdrawal (can't you tell by how often I'm posting here lately?).

I don't want a Fire cause a back lit device hurts my eyes after a while...thats why I don't read on my iPad. I don't like the Kindle Touch either. I read the Hunger Games Trilogy on Alex's touch the other weekend and I'm so used to being able to turn the page with either hand (buttons on both sides) on his touch you actually have to TOUCH the screen on the right side to turn the page! LOL

So I think I'm going to go with a Kindle 6" no keyboard. Amazon offered me a discount when I called practically crying that my Kindle stopped working. :drama:

  5. Yes, what Mo said.

After I win the lottery and move to the Fort, I am going to offer my services as a dog sitter. Just give me the keys to your camper, and let me know when to check on your pet, and I'll do it.

No charge either. But, I will reserve the right to help myself to your beer cooler and perhaps your crock pot and fridge.

    TCD

Of course! I wouldn't have it any other way!! What's mine is the FIENDS!! :doublebeer:

  6. OK, ok- I didn't mean to start a debate. :holysheep:

We are responsible doggy lovers and we wouldn't be leaving George in the tent at all! Weren't planning on it. Basically he would go to Doggy Daycare at Best Friends while we're at the parks and then the days we're at the Fort, we'd be at the site with him. No exploring or anything. I'm just kinda relunctant to leave him in a kennel period, mainly because he was so sick when we adopted him from being in the kennel at the shelter. And he's kinda gets a little freaked when we leave him. However, if I can't smooth things over with my Mom soon, I will have to kennel him. The good news is that I found a kennel close to home where one of vet tech's works on the weekends. :jumpforjoy And my vets office highly recommends it. So that is an option. :whew:

I agree with everything said above about leaving ANY animal in ANY vehicle all day alone. You just never now what would happen. And even though George likes to go camping with us, I would be more worried about him all week and shuffling him around than having fun with my non-furry kids. :thumbsup2:
