This is an awesome report. The smiles on the faces of everyone and the twinkle in the eyes shows how much fun you all are having and absolute pure joy.

Great trip report. Looking forward to the next one.

Thanks for sharing your anniversary trip with us. I found myself thinking oh that would be a great place to visit. There seemed to be so much that my whole family would enjoy especially my teenage son who loves historical places. And making teenagers happy on vacations makes for an enjoyable vacation for all!

I have tried believe me! We go to the shows and look but can't get him to commit.
My hubby was like that for the longest time. Then we won a weeks use of an rv from a local dealer. They took it to a local campground for us, set it up, showed us how everything, worked & took care of cleaning it up when we left. Hubby's original plan was to go back into work once in awhile while we were camping. That never happened & less than a year later we had purchased our TT. Now he's drooling over the 5th wheels. We'd have to upgrade our tow vehicle though for that.

This is great! I love the bunkbed and the baby's bed. That would be an awesome idea for a group baby shower gift. It's something that as a mom would not think of purchasing myself, but would have loved to have had it when mine were babies.
Looking forward to reading more about your trip.

We have a rv (well travel trailer).

I really wish I could commit to going right now, but I can't. I found out last night that hubby isn't sure what is going to happen with his job. Rumors are floating around about layoffs, buyouts, etc. So, right now is probably not the best time to say, "Hey how about if I take the girls to Fort Wilderness for Halloween and my birthday (November 7th) and oldest DD's birthday (November 8th)?"
-
Ok now you all are just tempting me too much.

So, I have been following along with this trip report and loving every moment of it. Of course earlier today I think I was getting a message from above that I really needed to work on my daughters' end of year progress reports, grades and attendance records because my internet service was annoyingly slow. So, now that our school year is officially over  I can read along and post replies. Now if Yahoo mail would just realize that a reply from TCD posting in his trip report is NOT SPAM then all would be right with the world.

Getting ready to head to the Easter Vigil Mass. Will say a little prayer for you that things will work out. :rofl2:

Judy, I know it might be a pain but could you camp at an off site campground nearby first (I think you said you planned on getting there on July 1st) and then move over to the Fort on July 4th. It looks like some tent sites become available if you put in the July 4th as your arrival date.
Really hoping you will be able to go. I know what it's like when you get the "Hey let's do this" and things don't work out as easy as you hope it would.

Now, I like Depp as an actor, but the Lone Ranger?? I think there was better choices the Depp. I was thinking someone a little more bulky to play it. DW says Mark Wahlberg would be a good choice.
The other day my teenage son asked me if I knew who Marky Marky was (didn't know that Mark Wahlberg and him were one and the same though until my son told me and showed me a 60 Minutes video). I left him speechless when I told him "Yes." It was actually pretty funny as I was quizzing him on his English Vocabulary words and he was just so shocked that I knew who he was and couldn't formulate a thought. I moved up a notch on the coolness rating that night. :rofl2:

We went this past weekend. It was my youngest dd's sleepover party. It rained pretty much the entire time, but the girls still had fun. We left the camper at the campground and will head back over this weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed that the weather they are predicting hold out.
Normally we don't have it out until Memorial Day weekend.
-
Last year for Memorial Weekend we happened to get the last available spot in the campground ( C Loop). They had just switched it over to full hook up. We didn't know until after we had the camper in that the site flooded pretty badly. Well we made it through the weekend and then were able to move our camper over to an open spot in the B Loop (knew we wanted to be there for the 4th).
It is already pretty filled up right now.

Yep, definitely need reservations during the "water park" season, but in the off season easy to get into. They also have an ice skating rink and a golf course right there.
The bad part is you can't make reservations for the months of May, June and July.
-
We were just there this past weekend. Actually we ended up leaving our camper there and will go spend some time there this weekend.

I graduated college from Salisbury State (92). Loved visiting here when I was in college.

We are camping right now, and tonight we made smores with Reeces cups for the chocolate. They rocked! :rofl2:
My kiddos would probably love that. My youngest DD is having a campout sleepover next Saturday at a local campground (told her it was the only way I would allow a spend the night party...cleaning up our camper after a sleepover is much easier than cleaning my house before and after sleepover) I'll have to make sure there are no peanut butter allergies and if all is good let the girls try those.
Oh and I forgot the other way I like my marshmallows is in a banana boat. I actually like that more than the s'mores.
-
I like to toast mine lightly for a bit and then burn it.
My kids like to stuff a piece of a chocolate bar in it and then roast it.

Dave, Have you ever stayed at the smoky bear campground across the street from jellystone? We try to go there every other year and love it. We will be at smoky bear for 8 nights 4th of July week. I'll have pics to follow after the trip
No, never have. Will have to check it out.
We have stayed her twice. Sorry, I don't think I have any pictures. It is a wonderful campground and the people who run it are so nice. Go by the office and get the sheet of paper that lists all the fun things to do in the area. It's really neatly done and they point out how much "Free" stuff there is to do.
We would have stayed again this past fall, but hubby just wanted to stay in Gatlinburg. We love our camping trips, but he just wanted to park the car and be able to go walk around, come back to our condo to rest and go back out again. Hmm wonder if he got spoiled staying at the Fort last winter when we went to Disney and got to do that.

Happy Belated Birthday! Hope your day was filled with many blessings!
