  1. Ray, I think your questions can best be answered by figuring out how old you are, how many kids you have and what makes your wife most happy.  I,ve done the usual progression from 2 kids and a tent to two kids and a pop-up, one kid and a travel trailer, to no kids an a smallish class A gasser.  They all have their advantages and disadvantages.  First, Age will determine how long you want to drive.  I do not drive more than 300 miles per day.  When I had the tent and two kids I could do 800 and set up the tent before sundown.  Now that I am retired and have no schedule or work to get back to I limiit the amount of time I spend behind the wheel to avoid DVT's.  (Blood clots in the legs.)  The number of kids you have would effect how many beds you need and how long of trip you see yourself taking.  Pop-ups, TT's and Class C's work well with kids and are best for week ends or 1-2 week vacations.  A class A has adult sized furniture, a real mattress, and can oeprate without full hook ups for extended time.  I can set mine up without leaving the interior of my MH.  More importantly I can go to the bathroom at any time of the day or night without walking a gauntlet of mosquitos and things that go bump in the night.  You can also take lots of stuff with you and live in it for months or years if that's what you want.  Having ones own bathroom makes my wife very happy.

  2. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.  I went to the beach in Hollywood yesterday and am still alive and nothing has fallen off yet.  I can also report that I did not see any medical waste, sharks, jellyfish, tar balls, Haitians swimming ashore or rotting whale carcasses.  When ever I see a reporter talking about germs and holding a Q-tip I know enough to change the channel.  That is the best thing I can do to maintain my health.

  3. Welcome and as far as tents are concerned, go big.  Its hard changing clothes while lying down or on your knees.  You may also want the room to use air matresses or cots or to keep a cooler in the tent for late night drinks.  Once you zip up for the night you don't want to go out to much because it is an opportunity for Mosquitos to get in.  The best tent I ever owned was a Eureka.  I had a Coleman screened in canopy that I sold for $10 because it was to difficult to set up.  I have seen tents on every kind of site the fort has but you shouldn't need to pay for a sewer hook up unless you plan on standing over the hole.  Maybe its just my impression but the tent sites always seem to have the most kids having the most fun.  The sites with the bigger rigs and more amenities(A/C) have less people outside socializing with each other.  If your going to be there between August 14-20th come by and say hello.  I'll have a sign.  I just don't know what site yet.

  4. Well, my DD talked me into signing up for the 5K on Friday.  It only cost $75 for the pleasure of running around epcot and not riding anything.  But I just got the real shocker today when I made my reservation for the Fort.  $136.00 a day for the full hook up sites.  Ouch.  That does not include a golf cart rental of $60 a day that you will need to get to those sites in the 1600 and 1700 loops.  Double ouch.

  5. Thanks for the video.  Looks like I have to put that park on my list.  Coming from Miami, there are two other state parks you can try.  Sebastian Inlet and Jonathan Dickenson have excellent facilities.  Jonathan Dickenson is only a 2 hour drive but you have to drive to the local beaches which are top notch.  Sebastian Inlet has its own beach but you have to walk to it.  At certain times of the year the no see ums will chew you up and spit you out.  They both have full hook ups and 50 amp service.  While Jupiter is a nice spot to explore, St Augustine is far superior.  Sebastian Inlet is only 1 1/2 hours from the Fort.  Timed it doing 55-60 MPH.

  6. Let me defend my home state.  It is no hotter than summer in New Jersey,  but the humidity is always near 100%.  I stayed in NJ last summer and found it just as hot if not more so.  In FL the electricity is more reliable and you will have 50 amp service to run 2 A/c units if you need it.  I couldn't find that in Northern New Jersey.  Some other pointers include coming back in the afternoon to nap and swim.  It almost always rains in the afternoon in FL so it is best not to be in a line when that happens.  They also close the open air rides when there is a hint of a thunderstorm.  That also happens almost every afternoon.  The skys clear around 6PM so you can go back to the parks and watch the fireworks up close or you can see them from the beach at the fort.  The Trails End restaurant is a good place when the DW starts wondering when her vacation is going to start.  They also have chicken and Pizza to go.  The Chicken is some of the best southern fried chicken I have had but the pizza is not up to New Jersey standards.  Not even close.  Please give yourself enough time to drive safely down, especially if you are driving down I-95.  I'm finding traffic is always bad on that road and a 1 hour delay puts a lot of pressure on you to try and make up for the loss of time.  Bring your own bottled water.  The fort charges $17.00 for a case of small bottles.  You will not like the taste of Florida Tap water.

  7. You don't need to be driving a big MH to get lost in Maryland.  You just need a bad GPS.  Last year I drove an equinox trying to get to NJ that night and got lost in Maryland around Blatimore for 2 hours going both north and then south.  I feel some of your pain.  I just hope everything went well at John Hopkins.

  8. Booked April 12,2015 on the Allure of the Seas.  The Sail price worked out to be $2800 for a Balcony room and it is already up to $3400.  Sweet.  Now the big question is do I buy the drink all day for $55 pass or not.

  9. I'm thinking you guys are not seeing the possibilities of a Florida Centered Souring ride and I would like to offer a few ideas that people hovering at low altitude might find interesting.  You could weave in and out of traffic on I-95 from Miami to Fort Lauderdale just like the natives do on rice rocket motorcycles or you could swoop down on "Katherine the Great" white shark as she swims just off the Fort Lauderdale Beach.  Then you could swing down to the keys and glide under the remains of the seven mile bridge and smell all the rotting fish guts from the decades of fishermen who clean their catch and leave it there.  But wait there is more.  How about a fall into a sink hole that opens up under you and as you are rescued by a impossibly good looking fireman, you are greated by your insurance agent who tells you that you are not in good hands and there for not covered.  You could then fly over the Tallahassee Capitol building, observe the expensive suites being worn by all the politicians and see what your insurance premiums bought.  You could then fly up the coast line from South Beach just like the Border Patrol and Coast Guard helicopters do and look at all the topless beaches.  The ride could then swing over to the Cape where you could witness a Rocket Lauch without having to wait days for the weather to clear or the technical glitches to be fixed.  I'm telling you, the possibilites are endless.  I still think the chocolate flavored love bugs are pure tourist gold.

  10. That black speck would be right at home on any Florida Windshield.  It never bothered me because I thought it belonged there.  If they updated the video to make it like Florida they could add to the experience by peppering everyone with sticky Chocolate Flavored love bugs.  We may not have hang gliders but we do have paragliders.  Think how much excitement the ride would generate if your hang glider slammed into a building or dropped you into the Gulf Stream.  I'm thinking this new ride could be as much fun as a kayak ride in the Everglades during alligator mating season.

  11. Its funny how I couldn't sleep last night just thinking about this question.  My first thought was to suggest that you call the previous owner and ask him for it.  Then I got to wondering how you tested out the electrical equipment before you bought it without an electrical cord.  Maybe the previous owner hid it so you wouldn't test the AC or refrig or lights or hot water heater.  You already had to buy tires and a new canvas.  I hope you got a really good deal on this hybrid.  You see where I'm going with this.  I'm going to take a pill tonight.
