  1. Sorry, Lou! I took my kids to the pool! Being a dad has a price! LOL. I'm at parks today and tomorrow but open otherwise...call my cell when u come, I may just be out on a bike!
  2. Yes, Lou! I'm staying here another week, and I'm at site 722. Mostly relaxing here today, tomorrow I'm at the parks. Phone is 703-898-1144
  3. Hi guys, Disney historian Jim Korkis and I will be recording a podcast about the old Fort Wilderness Railroad tomorrow morning at the Meadow Trading Post between 8 and 9 AM. I should be done by 9 if anyone would like to stop by and say hello and meet in person!
  4. I'll be getting there Sunday!! Wahoo! Plus, I'll post later too, but I'm recording a live podcast all about the Fort Wilderness RR with Disney historian Jim Korkis. I'll try to do it at Meadow Trading post Tuesday late afternoon if anyone wants to stop and say hi!
  5. Last year we stayed in sight 821, and my son put his tent in the Pineneedles right behind the RV, and he said it was very comfortable. I'm actually not coming in until Sunday morning now that I look at my calendar. I'm actually spending Saturday night at Wekiwa State Park a little north to go see the springs and do some kayaking. My buddy will arrive ahead of me on Saturday. we are pretty flexible, if we can't get 700 it's no big loss, he just liked it from a previous stay. It's more important that we be close together so our kids can play and it's easy cooking meals and so on. So that will
  6. Thanks guys, I've been looking at the app and the videos, too. I posted anyway because I thought there may be things I can't tell just by looking at those and some of you might have a few favorites...personally my fav loops are 300 and 600, but my buddy and his fam want to try 700 this time.
  7. Hi Guys, I'm heading down for almost 2 weeks on Saturday, and I'm thinking of requesting Loop 700 this time. I hear it was recently renovated. There are 2 RV's of us traveling, and I want a site deep enough that my teen son can set up his tent behind our RV...what 2 sites would you recommend so we can request being next to our friends but one of the sites being deep enough for my son's tent? Any thoughts?
  8. This is an awesome list! I had forgotten several of these...like the peacocks! I LOVED having them around! And those tree stump trash cans...I hear they were repurposed from Disneyland frontierland. I need to write an article on all these lost and gone things...I think my favorite was going on the marshmallow marsh with my mom and dad and my bro and sister. And if you had a fun guide, they would race the other canoe! Anyone remember that?
  9. Thanks! I was14 when it closed, but I remember riding it with my mom and dad, it was awesome! I wish it had been brought back...when I come in2 weeks I plan to hunt and photo what's left. If you've heard of Jim Korkis, he and I are going to record a show for my podcast live from Fort Wilderness on Tuesday, Nov 4th all about the RR.
  10. A lot of you guys probably remember the old Fort Wilderness RR...being both a Disney writer and obsessive Disney fan as well as a Fort Fiend whose favorite place in all WDW is the Fort with my family, I really get into the Fort's history. I've been writing a series of articles about the Fort on MousePlanet.com for a couple of months, my latest came out today all about the old Railroad that ran thru the campground. You can find it here if you'd like to read it: http://www.mouseplanet.com/10835/Loving_the_Great_Outdoors_the_Disney_Way__Fort_Wilderness_Resort_Part_IV If you like it, leave me a
  11. Hi everyone! If you'd like to read it, my new article on the old Fort Wilderness Railroad just came out today. You can read it here: http://www.mouseplanet.com/10835/Loving_the_Great_Outdoors_the_Disney_Way__Fort_Wilderness_Resort_Part_IV. If you like it, leave me a comment about it on the comment section of the article's page. Can't wait to get there in 2 weeks!

  12. I'm actually in touch with David, and emailed him earlier today about getting some pix...his book about the old RR is FANTASTIC!! It's hard to put down, but then I'm a real geek for the Fort. I will actually be crediting his work on my upcoming show.
  13. Hi Fiends, as many of you know, I'm a Disney podcaster and writer at WDWmousenger.com and for Mouseplanet.com. I'm doing a story about the Fort Wilderness RR this month for mouseplanet and in November I'm doing a podcast show and a story for the blog. My question is, does anyone have any old photos from the railroad? I would like to include photos with my story, but even though my family rode the RR numerous ties back in the old Fort days, I guess we never actually took pix of it...cant find any in mom and dad's albums, anyway. If someone has any pix and wuldn't mind letting me use them in
  14. This book is great, I got a copy and have been writing back and forth with Dave. If you love the Fort, there are so many pix from the RR's heyday and so much information! You can geek out for days! I, too, plan to use the map and my son and I are going to hunt for ties and spikes. I recommend this book to anyone who loves the Fort and loves to see its history. PS - I am writing a continuing series about the Fort over on MousePlanet.com if anyone wants to check it out, or suggest some Fort related topics you'd like to read about! Rod W
  15. Still learning how this site works--bear with me if I've posted this twice...Lou, I would really like to speak with them! Think you could put me in touch?
  16. @Lou--I'd love to talk with them, do you think you could put me in touch? @ Brady BzLyn--I'll look for signs on the sites! I think I should order one, too
  17. Thanks! I have a lot more I want to write on the Fort, and several podcast shows yet to do on it...I've had so much fun researching and writing it all that I'm thinking of writing a book or book about The Fort, especially focusing on the history...stay tuned! Hope to meet some of you in Nov!
  18. Wow! This is GREAT stuff! I would love to do a quick interview with Hilda or Devores or BOTH for a quick show on the week sometime between Nov 2-12! I'll already be doing a story on the old Railroad at FW and this would be a great topic together...I didn't see Hilda on here, but Devores are you game? Will you be there then?
  19. Here is the link to my articles on mouseplanet.com: http://www.mouseplanet.com/search.php?type=w&aid=73 Here's the link to a podcast show I did all about the history of Fort Wilderness: http://wdwmousenger.com/wdwmousenger-podcast-episode-4/
