That's where I would be with my dually.  Is it a bummer to see the Moho engine and tranny sit so much? I like the 5th wheel because I know the truck in and out and can tell when it needs attention because I drive it every day.  Something about jumping in something that sat for 3 months and driving 1000 miles just seems scary.

I didn’t drive the dually for a month or more sometimes so the motorhome sitting isn’t much different.  I usually do a pre-trip inspection just for piece of mind such as checking belts, hoses, etc.  My theory of thinking is that if something mechanical wasn’t broke when I got home from the previous trip it usually break when sitting.

  2. We switched from a fifth wheel to a class A almost three years ago.  For us it has been great and glad we did.

I needed the dually capacity only for the fifth wheel so I was able to get a half ton to tow.  Much easier to park in some of the small towns we visit.

We can also bring our golf cart with us to the Fort in the back of the truck now.

The motorhome has a lot of space underneath so we can carry more camping “stuff” 🙂.

  3. You can see quite a few dinosaur tracks at Dinosaur Valley state park as long as the river isn’t up to high. Lots of hiking trails as well. The R.V. spaces at the park can be pretty tight with a larger rig so good call on staying offsite. Be sure to check out Pie Peddlers in downtown Glenn Rose if you like pie.

    Have fun!

  4. If you the smokers trail from the train station to Space Mountain. I don't think so for now.

Right now the construction looks to be on the outside of the railroad tracks toward the Cotemporary.

The trail is still open as of this past Friday. The trees right next to the train tracks have been left in place. You can still see the construction through the trees that have been left.

  5. All caught up and glad to see Rocky even if he does wake up before dawn. The food truck must really consume some power.

    Couple of comments.

First, regarding the quote above....cherish the times you still have where you'll all be under the same roof.  Once they start marrying, those days are done.  Same with vacation.  It's not a bad thing necessarily.  I love how our lives are changing.  But it does make me sad when I think that we'll never go to the Fort again as a family of 7.  Our trip last month was without our Gwen.  And although we hope to do a trip someday where she and her husband will join us, it will surely be different.  Still good, just different.

Very well said. My son is 12 and that's not something I try to think about right now but I know it's coming someday.

On overcast or cool days those suckers will be cold on your butt!

On hot sunny days they will be pretty darn toasty by nightfall.

I was thinking the same thing.

  6. Good to know.  Those do look pretty cool.  They would look nice on my camper's awning.

    TCD

I had to go back to get some more parts for the project I'm working on and they had the display finished. The display has everything in stock that's shown on the website above.

My awning will now have Mickey head lights. [emoji3]

Check the box carefully.  Some are regular and some are color changing.  I don't think the print was that big.

The color changing ones are also $10 more than the regular.

  7. I stopped by Lowe's today and noticed they were setting up the Christmas decorations. Here's what caught my eye:

Guess Disney saw all of the homemade lamps around the Fort and thought they might be able to make some money. The sign by all of the Disney related items said exclusively at Lowes.

This could be a good alternative if you wanted a Mickey lamp but didn't have the time to make your own.
