  1. I keep checking the schools current schedule to find the magic days off but had not found anything.  They give a week at Easter which our old school just does Friday and Monday.   I think that is where their extra days are.

It is mostly days out of school that I am looking for.  This last Christmas we pulled her for 7 day which turned in 8 (24 bug on the way home). Now Dd has had a run of viruses with fevers and is at 12 days out.   She is at the top of the class but still don't want any problems with the school.  So looking for same trip days wise, just less days out of school for her.

January is better price wise, crowd wise, BUT the weather can be iffy. I've been warm in January, I've frozen my tail off in January.

February, the weather is more likely to be be beautiful, but I've also frozen my tail off. Those holiday weekends, the crowds can be bad, but you will be traveling, so it will die down right after the holiday.  The Friday before Presidents day, the rates jump WAAAY up to Holiday rates and run that way until late April.

Price is a consideration of course.  Weather will be better than home.  Just wanting to try something different.   With Jan having better prices it would make the trip doable.

We are sending DD to private school so we didn't think a trip was doable, but hubs knows I like to go every other year or so.

  3. We are looking into Jan or Feb of 2017.  We have gone in march, april, Oct, Nov-Dec, and early December.  Hubs wants to try February and I said how about Jan.   Working around DD school schedule.  We would be traveling either MLK weekend and then staying that week or Presidents day weekend.  Im trying to only take her out of school 4 days.  (she is a straight A student but we are in a new school this upcoming year)   I need weather, crowds, closures, basically what you liked and didn't like about this time period or if we need to take her out on a full week.     No bashing.  If it is really bad pm me.

    Thanks

  4. really trying to figure this out.   flying in friday by noon and out sunday at 8:20 is the cheapest flights at 258.00  Then trying to figure out park tickets.  I know I will want to park it as much as I can. (I probably will never be without the hubs or kid again...lol) So 2 days or three.   3days plus airfare has me just at $600.   plus food and the campsite chip in.  Still do able.  I can't believe I am having such a hard time leaving the kiddo.

  5. speaking of ibotta.  I also use ebates(just did my taxes turbotax), saving star and checkout 51.  I cashed out where I could before christmas and I have 25.50 in savingstar, 16.50 in ibotta and checkout51 I almost the $20 I need to cash out there.  every little bit adds up to WWW.

You are saying what many of us have felt for awhile.  I have said here many times that Disney should have been expanding the Fort all along or building new CG's to keep pace with demand in general and for larger sites in particular.

I also believe that the widely abused 10 person per site rule has been a contributor to this downward slide.

The intent (Walt's intent) was to give middle class/working class families an affordable and clean place to come to Disney with all their kids in a station wagon and a tent or a trailer w/o spending a fortune.

The Fort was never intended to handle the size of the groups and vehicles that are crammed into every loop now.

I think you should edit your above posts into one email and send it to every Disney email address in the chain of command.

What He and Troll said.   Send it to everyone.  We are only Cabin campers, but this last trip in early December we looped and it was kinda depressing.  Not as well kept as our first trip in 2006.   I feel really bad for those of you who saw the Fort in its Glory Days.

Ah, that must have been the year I had to go home a day earlier than everyone else.

Ok so I've revived the designs I was fiddling with for last year that we didn't end up using.  Left would be front (small pocket or large) and right is if we want a back.

    I like that.

Ugh! My friend says her kids would kill her if she goes without them since they haven't been since 2005, and she has 2 other trips planned in the month before.

Of course when I brought it up again with my husband he says, "how do you know those aren't a bunch of psycho men trying to lure you down there?"  That's what I was expecting the first time. He must not have been listening then. I assured him I think you all have done this trip several years, but of course that's just what you want people to think, right?

My husband (po po man) use to think like your husband but now he is urging me to go.  He has heard and seen other reports of group gatherings.   (Not crazy enough to show WWW photos).

  9. Sorry Bo will have to fly.   I have to say I am having a hard time leaving the kid....   So my first overnight outing has to be quick.  fly out friday and home late sunday night.    I am not a helicopter Mommy, I am not a helicopter Mommy, I am not a helicopter Mommy, , I am not a helicopter Mommy!!!   lol

And I am genetically predisposed to worry.   About everything....lol   AKA I need a trip away and want a trip away. mentally putting on my big girl pants so I can do it...

  10. Ok Girls.  Based on previous years how are meals done.  How often does everyone go to the parks or do they go to the parks.  Air fair right now is about $260   So trying to figure out the rest so I know what I need.   Per hubs.  Go it will be your birthday gift.  Just want to know how big that gift needs to be.

  11. Since we are now in the year 2016, I figured this thread needs to be bumped up.

    Let the official planning begin!!!

I was just coming to bump it up myself.   Trying to figure out a way to come this year.

  12. I concur with 3 things:

    1) that was a fAntastic movie. I don't care if it was a re-telling of the original, or if it was littered with non sequiturs. It was awesome!

    2) I agree with TCD. The more Chewy on camera the better

    3) I agree with DVC. Seeing Chewy shoot Kylo was awesome. They made a pretty big deal out of showing a shot of Kylos blood in the snow during his fight with Rey.

    I think:

    1) Han is dead

    2) the tie ins to the original are great. Having droids (C3PO and R2D2) be prominent, means they could span endlessly into future episodes.

    3) Finns lineage is tied to Lando.

    4) the snicker from Han, as the idea of putting Captain into a trash compactor, is hilarious

    5) JJ did a great job weaving the ol with the new and opening venues for future stories

    Yeah, yeah, what he said.
