  1. So far I have counted 13 families who will be at the Fort for the 4th of July.  Bob and I are looking forward to getting together with old FrIENDS and meeting some new FrIENDS.  I just want to know why the heck is it taking so long for July to get here.

  2. Now we live in North Carolina right off 52.  If you pick up 52 South off of 77 up at the VA/NC line.  52 into 85 into Charlotte.  Just on the other side of Charlotte we pick up 26 then I95 South.  As long as you're not during rush hour Charlotte has never given us trouble.

Oh we pick I81 any day over I95 to head home to family in PA and NJ. Make that trip 3-6 times a year.  I do take I95 North when I am by myself with the kids a lot and I would much rather be on 81.

Can I ask where in Pa and NJ do you have family?  Hubs and I are grew up in NJ and I was born in Pa.
  3. If anyone is camping at J&D this year, look across the creek that runs past the campground.  If you see a single campground on the other side of the creek, my cousins rent the space from the farmer who owns the property.  We camped at that spot back in the mid 60's.  I was born in Shamokin, Pa and still have alot of family members still there.  Would love a GG at J&D and Knoebels, It's a great family amusement park with wonderful food and great prices.

  4. I camped at Fort Wilderness this past summer and stayed in the 700 loop.  I have a 40 ft 5th wheel and had a hard time getting into my site.  I had to ask the people in the campsite accross from me to move there car so I could swing into my site.  Fortunately they were there and not in the park.  Are there certain loops that are more big rig friendly then others?  I think part of the problem was that my site was in a turn which made it more difficult to get in.  I noticed the 600 loop had easy sites to get in but were not tree covered.  My next trip is during the summer again so i would like shade.

We stayed in the 600 loop over the 4th of July 2010, but we were in 635 I think.  Lots of trees and the way the loop road runs it was very easy to get into.  This was a very shaded spot and had lots of room.
  5. I take ground round, then dice onions into little pieces, add some bread crumbs, generous portion of Montreal steak seasoning.  mix well and form patties.  Bob doesn't like things grilled on the grill so I have to fry them.  While they are cooking I pour over a little A1  steak sauce.  I prefer either provolone cheese or american, tomatoes and raw onion  and mayo.  Or some blue cheese chunks...or fried onions with a litt A1 sauce.

  6. May and June are the worst months for yellow flies.  I was bitten June of 2008 on  my foot and my foot swelled so bad it hurt to walk.  Then May/June of 2009 was really bad for yellow flies.  I was bitten so bad, they became infected I felt so sick and ran a fever.  I went to the urgent care clinic and they gave me a shot of Rosephin (sp).  I will NOT go to the Fort in May or June ever again.
