  1. You brought up an interesting point about them booking adrs and then canceling them when someone who has paid them to search needs one. I never thought of that!

I suppose they could have a bunch of popular reservations booked already--then when somebody pays them, they release it and quickly tell that person to go book it!   Wow - people will think of everything, won't they?

  2. Disney dining scout worked out really well for me. They notified me that there was one available then I logged onto MDE and booked it.

I'm glad it worked for you!  I'm sure it's working for many people right now.  But any business that profits from Disney's systems is viewed by Disney as being illegal, and they are getting their legal department involved with these companies now. What we are hearing is that companies like that are using bots to do the searching and Disney is cracking down.

I was just passing on a warning, so Fiends don't end up losing money.  :)

  3. Just a heads up --

There are many services out there that offer to get dining reservations for you. They will charge a fee per reservation and then work on getting these for you. They also will book reservations and then sell the reservations to individuals, basically by cancelling and rebooking (of course no guarantees). These are illegal. Work with these companies at your own risk. Disney is cracking down on them and you may end up getting caught in a mess, or at the very least, losing your reservations and your money.

With the "My Disney Experience" app on phones and iPads, it's easy to just keep checking yourself now.  Or have your TA do it for you!  :)

  6. Hi everyone!

If anyone would like to make an interim payment on their reservation, using their Disney Reward Dollars, just email me the information, and I'll do that for you. ([email protected]). Of course, you can wait and use your Disney Dollars when you get there too. But, some people would rather use it toward their reservation cost.

  8. You've probably seen this in the news in the last couple of days, so I just wanted to share my experience and thoughts.....

Recently, Southwest Airlines announced a one-day “Flash Sale” to its Facebook fans. 50% off flights, on certain late summer and fall dates. The response was so overwhelming, that it crashed Southwest’s system, and as a result, thousands of customers were charged multiple times for the same reservation, and many more people never received confirmations for the flights they did book during the sale. It was a mess, to say the least.

I had the latter happen to me. I booked a flight, and used SWA’s Paypal option to pay for it. After hitting the Confirm button, I got a server error from their Web site. I did not get the confirmation page. So I went over to my Paypal account, and verified that the payment had gone through. It had. So I waited for an email confirmation. It never came.

I waited about an hour, and called SWA’s Customer Service line, and got a busy signal. The line was busy all that evening, and all the next morning. Finally, the following afternoon, I got through to their voicemail, which told me that the hold time would be three hours! I could not hold that long, so I hung up. I tried again that evening, and the hold time was 1-1/2 hours. Again, I hung up.

Finally, the morning of the third day, I got through with only a 10 minute hold. The Customer Service agent I spoke with, Carrie, was very nice. She tried looking up the reservation for me, but there wasn’t one there. The charge had gone through to Paypal, but the reservation was never completed in their system! So, she transferred me to the IT department, where I spoke with Tiffany, who immediately cancelled the Paypal charges, and rebooked the flight for me, at the discounted rate! Throughout the entire conversation, Tiffany was very professional and courteous, even though she had been working very long hours for the past three days, having to deal with thousands of irate customers.

In the meantime, Southwest has posted an apology on their Facebook page, to all their Fans, for the problems they had while trying to take advantage of the sale. They have also put a headline on top of their Web site, explaining the situation and the steps they are taking to correct the problems encountered. They have worked tirelessly for three days, and will continue to work hard for many more days, to fix everyone’s reservations.

This morning, I received a follow-up call from a SWA agent, just checking to make sure everything worked out. She sounded tired, but was very friendly and professional. I thanked her for all her hard work over the past couple of days. She seemed to appreciate that. :)

Kudos to Southwest Airlines for their professionalism and timely response in handling this situation!

  9. I thought you could ask for water at the counters with fountain sodas or did they stop that now.

Yes! Every counter that has a fountain pop machine will give free glasses of ice water! They don't mind, and are usually happy to do it!

Another thing to consider is that pure water is the best for you. We found that out the hard way a couple of weeks ago when DH developed a kidney stone. He works outside all day in the FL heat, and gets dehydrated easily. We fell for the advertisements that say that Gatorade and similar drinks are better for you, because they replenish the minerals that you lose by sweating. What we didn't know is that those minerals will stack up in your kidneys and cause kidney stones. So, with the doctor's orders, he stopped drinking Gatorade and just drinks plain water now. 2 gallons per day, when working outside, is what the doctor said.

If you want to drink the other drinks, always supplement them 1:1 with a glass of pure water too. Same with coffee. Always have a glass of water after drinking a cup of coffee.

Thanks for the reminder Stefa70!! :)

  10. ETAA I see that the WWW rate includes taxes and the baseline I was looking at for 2012 didn't so that is a pretty good chunk of the difference.

I'm sure that's where the difference is. :)
