  1. So for a three day cruise, what does one absolutely need to pack. Not planning any excursions other than getting off at Castaway Cay. Anyone have any must do activities (might help to break it down by boats)?

Here's my list of what I normally bring on a 3-day cruise:

    3 shirts

    3 shorts

    2 swimsuits

coverup (or two, depending if one matches both suits)

one pair flipflops for the pool and for the beach on CC

2 pairs of nice pants with 2 matching shirts (for dinners)

1 skirt with blouse, or a dress (for one of the dinners)

1 pair nice sandals that can go with all 3 dinner outfits

undies (no socks or nylons needed!)

toiletries (sunscreen, makeup, comb/brush, toothbrush/paste, conditioner, lotion)

    hairdryer (I don't like theirs)

    phone charger

books (to read by the pool)

    passport and drivers license

That's about it! Easily fits into one medium-sized suitcase. :D

  2. Roz, do u do planning for disney cruises only or for other cruise lines as well? We would love to do a cruise for our 40th anniversary in 2013 and have been looking online for ideas, but since it will be our first cruise, it is a little overwhelming.

Hi! I do all the cruise lines - and I'd love to help you with your anniversary cruise! :)

Send me an email ([email protected]) and let me know what you're looking for. I'll send you some ideas and quotes!

  3. You call Rhonda (Roz) and book your cruise. (the only thing I can add so far)

    That's a great tip! :D

It took over 12 years to convince my DH to take a Disney Cruise but with Roz's help I finally did it.

You just watch -- he's gonna get off this 3-day cruise, complaining that it wasn't long enough! He'll want to book another one right away! :)

  4. Not kidding. When I went on my ship tour of the Oasis last month, we went through the security area, and along with the piles of irons and booze, there were piles of power strips! I'm not sure what people with CPAP machines do. Maybe you can get special permission, with a doctor's note or something? I'll have to check on that.

  5. Rebelstand had the great idea of starting a thread about planning and packing for a cruise! So let's post tips and things we've learned from going on cruises.

One of my favorite things to pack is my over-the-door shoe bag. The pockets are clear so you can see what's in them. I got mine at Target for $4.50 and I've used it over and over -- on cruises and in hotel rooms.

I use the pockets for everything that would normally take up counter space -- makeup, hairspray, shampoo, comb/brush, toothbrush/paste, books, sunblock, glasses, etc, etc.

Here's a picture of one like mine

  6. This is the best week of the year to book a cruise!! All of the cruiselines are offering special deals, discounts, onboard credits, and other perks! Go here to read all about it: http://travelonadrea...week-kicks-off/. And, keep in mind, the onboard credits offered by the cruiseline, are in addition to the onboard credits you will always get for booking through me!

Email me ([email protected]) if you'd like a quote or more information. Or if you prefer, you can call me at 888-681-1240, ext. 3. :)

  7. I posted this in two places, for new visitors (in case they don't go into the Dining Reviews section):

This has not been confirmed by Disney yet, but seems to be true...

Effective October 26, 2011, additional Walt Disney World restaurants will be requiring a credit card to hold reservations. The reservations will need to be cancelled no later than 24 hours prior or a charge of $10 per person will be applied to the credit card on hold. This change is being implemented to cut down on the number of reservation no-shows that occur at the most popular Disney dining locations.

This will reduce the cancellation penalty window to 24 hours instead of the 48 hours for some locations, but again, this has not been confirmed by Disney yet. Here is the list of dining locations anticipated to have this new requirement:

    • 1900 Park Fare
    • Akershus
    • Artist Point
    • California Grill
    • Cape May Cafe
    • Chef Mickey's
    • Citricos
    • Crystal Palace
    • Flying Fish
    • Garden Grill
    • Hollywood & Vine
    • Hollywood Brown Derby
    • Jiko
    • Le Cellier
    • Narcoossee's
    • 'Ohana
    • Tusker House
    • Victoria & Albert ($25 per person cancellation penalty)
    • Yachtman Steakhouse

A special cancellation line will be set up to call your cancellations in if necessary. That number is 407-WDW-CNCL.

  9. Hi everyone!

This is just a reminder that we have group space booked for the Disney Fantasy, on October 20, 2012. This is an Eastern Caribbean cruise with stops at St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. We will be planning special events for all cruisers booked through Travel On A Dream! You will also get onboard credits to use toward your shipboard account!

Please let me know if you'd like a quote, or more information! :)

  10. I would love to have any tips you may have as to how to get the best deal on booking another Disney cruise while on a DC. We leave Sept. 24 for our first Disney Cruise. We would probably like to go again in 2013, but how can we put the least amount down now and still get a good deal if we upgrade later?

    Thanks in advance.

To pay the least amount at the time, you can book your next cruise (with a dummy date, if you don't know the exact sail date yet), and just book it for one person for now. That way, you only pay the deposit for one person. Then, later on, when you choose the specific date, you can add the other people to the reservation and pay their deposit at that time.

  11. Royal Caribbean is having their annual WOW sale, next Tuesday and Wednesday (10/4 & 5)!! If you're thinking of taking a RCCL cruise in 2012 or 2013, now is the time to book! The deposits are half-price, and they are offering great shipboard credits (in addition to the shipboard credit you will already get from ToaD for booking through me!)

Let me know ASAP if you would like a quote, and I'll add you to my list for Tuesday morning. It's going to be a crazy day, and the popular cruises and categories are going to sell fast!

Email me at rhonda@travelonadream to get on my list. :)

  12. If anyone is wanting a quote for the Disney Fantasy (or other Disney ships) for 2013, please let me know. I've started a list of people that are waiting for DCL to release 2013 sailings and pricing. I'm expecting them to be available in a couple of weeks or so! :parrot:

FYI - The other cruise lines have already released their 2013 pricing, so feel free to ask for anything on them too. :)

  13. I hope everyone has a fantastic, magical cruise!!! I can't wait to see pictures and read all the trip reports!!

Remember -- if you want to take advantage of the onboard booking benefits -- our official ToaD Cruise is on the new Disney Fantasy on October 20, 2013. This is an Eastern Caribbean cruise with stops at St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay. We will be planning special events for all cruisers booked through Travel On A Dream!

When you do the onboard booking, the reservation will be assigned to me -- and I'm hoping to actually be there this time! lol

    Have a wonderful time!!! :)
