  1. We were there in January and there was a huge line out the door at EOS, so we walked over to Pollo and found it to be practically empty.  No line at all.  There was a worker at the door greeting people and she seemed very disapointed when we didn't stay. (Didn't see any menu items that looked good at that moment.... ended up back at EOS)

  2. I've heard so much about the corn dog nuggets at Casey's Corner. Any input, are they worth trying or should I just pass them by.

I love corn dog nuggets and I get them at Caseys every time we go, but last trip they tasted just like the ones you get in the freezer section and reheat at home.......

Still good, but not the crispy fresh made ones I remember.  Maybe they were just having a bad day

or maybe its another cost-cutting move.

    :D :D :( :( :(

  3. Ok, how about:

Class A or C toyhauler towing a small camper van, maybe a sprinter type.  That gives you two vehicles for emergencies, a toy garage, plenty of living space depending on the floorplans, and flexibility if you want to go somewhere the larger vehicle won't fit....... ;D

You could also tow a pop-up behind the motorhome. Two queen beds in a small lightweight package

       :)

  4. It is the 900 loop that has the walkway. It is off of the dog walk which runs behind the 1000 , 900 and 800 loops.

    You can see it here:

    http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/fortwilderness.htm

We have stayed on 918 and the site next to ours was directly in front of the walkway/bridge.  Not sure of the site number. I'll look at our pics and see if I have it.

It is a nice area except when there is a Rowdy group/s staying in the group area, esp on a holiday weekend. MLK holiday in Jan was crazy.

  5. We have always called in even though I agree its a huge PITA!  Why oh why do we have to go thru the same questions over and over again.....

The automated ones are bad enough, but then the CM gets on and asks even more repetitious questions......

The web site never seems to work right or have the days we need, and honestly it has never occurred to us to use a Travel Agent to book a campsite at the Fort or anywhere else for that matter.

    :siren: :siren: :) :) :)

  6. It's just another version of my out-of-control Murphy's Law. When gas was reasonable, DH was working and getting even a week off was a major endeavor. Now that he'll be home 24/7 til death do us part, gas prices skyrocket so we can't get far.

The key to whether it'll stop me is in the preceeding sentence though - he's home 24/7now 365 days a year! - No way am I gonna let some bozo oil sheik make me put up with being trapped in this friggin house surrounded by my loving family forever.  Distractions, we need massive distractions... grab your coats everyone... wanna hand me those car keys?

  7. I would keep trying to get a Cabin if that is what you really wanted. There are cancellations all the time and on arrival you could ask for one next to a camping loop....

As far as the paths, there are two: A paved jogging path that runs next to the Bus route between the 2 resorts and a dirt Nature trail that runs along the Lake and ends up behind the bike rental shack at the Lodge.

If it was an emergency, I would take the GC to the Lodge and worry about rules later. If questioned by a CM just explain the circumstances. Although it might be just as quick to drive there if you have a car......

Also, if you do go there and leave the cart parked near the Lodge it might not be there when you come back to it.  We saw CM's doing just that on our last trip.  But again, in an emergency you gotta do what you gotta do.....

  8. I hope the politicians don't make this a budget saver, saying we can just use theirs and not build our own.

Too Late.  Obama has already ordered the Constellation Program to be terminated several months ago  (to be fair it was already running late because GWB had underfunded it...)

He (Obama) has effectively ended our manned space program. He did send some of the money to Private companies to develop their own vehicles, but it will be years, probably 2020 or later until they are ready to replace NASA. And even that funding was cut in the current budget.....

We (and the ISS) are now dependant on the Russians for the foreseeable future once these last two shuttle missions are launched.

  9. We always use awning straps and dog tie-out anchors. Haven't had any problems so far, but we did lose an awning while driving!

Couple of years ago on the way to the Fort we were on I95 and got caught in a wind/rain storm outside DC.  Unrolled the awning over the top of the camper and then ripped it along the front edge.

I had to pull over on the grass, go up top and roll it back up by hand.

Then I did what any self-respecting guy would do:  I got out my Duct Tape!

It wasn't pretty, but it held together until we got home and ordered new vinyl. Luckily the metal arms weren't damaged too badly and we only needed a new spring and ratchet mechanism.

    :) :) :) :) :)

Wow..I probably would have freaked if this happened to us while we were going down I95 , but once again, good old duct tape to the rescue. My DH's favorite go-to problem solver!

It was exciting to say the least.....  I had to pull over on a slant, then crawl across the roof holding on for dear life as the trucks went by and rocked the MH. Then I had to hook one foot around an AC cover while trying to roll the awning back up and then tape it in place.  :)

My wife was standing below with her cell phone out ready to call the ambulance when I fell!  :D

But I will say it again: Duct tape is a miracle substance sent from God himself!  That repair held for the rest of the trip and most of the summer until we saved up for a new awning.

As my Grandfather used to say:  If it moves and it isn't supposed to, use duct tape. If it doesn't move and it's supposed to, use WD-40 and a hammer......  :)

  11. If the tram leaves the MK at 1pm and the bus leaves Epcot at 12:30 both headed for the TTC what time will it be when the water taxi reaches The Fort?

Kungaloosh Time of course!!  I'm surprised you had to ask.....
