  1. We used Kenny a couple of weeks ago.

We made the ressie w/ his wife. He called us a day or two before we got there to ask when we would arrive. He met me just outside the overflow lot so I could let him in. (my card opened the overflow gate).

Then he called the last day and had me drop it off at the bus stop cart parking up front so he could get it later.

Great cart, great price and great service.

  2. Hi BBB, As the Security tells you as you enter the Fort: Welcome Home!  ::)

We just got back and had 2 Chihuahuas as well  :)  and 2 black labs, and a 10 month old  :)

And we lived to tell about it

Oh? Is there a story or TR in that comment?:)

This next week will be our first visit for this year and we are looking forward to about three more at our home away from home!

    B-B-B

I was going to do one (my first) for the "board that must not be named".  As soon as I get my pics over to photobucket (never used it before) I will do one here  8)

  3. The only bad thing about 2000 loop is it seems they have seemed to use it for large parties. Not saying it will be like that when you arrive but it could. If it's not a busy time and you aren't happy they could might help you with an upgraded site. 1500 is much quieter and IMO nicer. There are some nice sites in 2000 especially on the outer sites. Some of my favorites are over by the comfort station in the middle of the loop.

I agree.  The last 2 trips I have noticed the same thing. They seem to use the 2000 loop as overflow for the Group area..... at least on the weekends.

1500 was MUCH quieter both times although 2000 was fine and almost empty during the week.

This last MLK weekend was beyond crazy.  A group called the "Shamrock Families" took over half of the 2000 loop. We could hear their music and car horns over in the 900 loop!

When I spoke with a Worker Bee she said they were put in the 2000 loop because the Group area was full.....

Donnie is right tho, there are some nice sites in 2000 right along the canal in back.

  4. Had a severly cracked w/s when we arrived at the Fort in January. It was on the drivers side and had to be fixed before the trip home.

We got the number for Camping Connection from the "board which will not be named" and they do not do RV Windshields, but they recommended:

    D & K Enterprises

    RV Windshield Replacement

    727-442-2767

    727-442-3187

The owner Don Chambers has over 20 yrs experience with RV windshields.

A call to them got me an appointment a few days later to allow time for the glass to arrive.

Don and his worker bee came right to our site at the Fort and did an outstanding job replacing both sides of our Winnebago Class A windshields.  Looks better than it did before  :yay:

  5. Yeah, but where the heck is the campground?

The office and the gated entrance (keycard) are behind the "El Drug Store"   which is on the left just after you pull in. Next to the Myrtle Beach Shop.  Just pull around between and behind the buildings (plenty of room) and you will see it.

As noted above, it is dated but clean and easy to get in and out. Once you are parked you would never know that you are just steps from one of the most amazing collections of Neon, Sombreros. greasy food and every souvenir known to man.  I Love it!  :D

  6. We have stayed at both.  New Green Acres is a standard stop, as you say its not the Fort but its got big sites and is clean and has late check-in.

SOB is also a good stop. Until you find and enter the campground you wouldn't know it was there. Its also got lots of pull throughs and clean bathrooms. Its also wooded and mostly very quiet. A surprise given where it is.

  7. Is it Worth it??

sorry, couldn't resist.....  am I going to get points for this?

    Steve

Hey, Steve, you live up the road apiece from me.  I'm in Plymouth!  :)

    Hi Ursula!!

    Great weather huh?  NOT!

We just got back from the Fort last week and now are wondering WHY we left Florida...... :o

  8. Hi Rebel!  They copied your post over on the UNDis.  Good for you!  I didn't get the chance after I agreed with Judy's post asking WMKathy to leave the board alone.

    Has anyone seen JudyinTX?

Is that another badge of honor?  I went over and read it the post at Undis.... they really didn't get my intention, did they?

yeah, thats a tough crowd over there.....

Hey Lisa, we need another badge of honor over here! :)

  9. Dave is right, the fort is the place to be with a small one.  We just had our 10 month old there and our solution was to skip the parks this year and do half day trips to the resort hotels, Downtown Disney, etc. then spend the other half at the fort.  12 days and we still didn't get to do all we wanted.

We were able to keep him in the stroller almost everywhere we went.

  10. I sent webmasterkathy a pm (snarky laugh) asking her to close and delete my account.  Then posted my intention of finding a new forum (before I had the web addy here) and I haven't been back.  It was quite boring over there...

  11. If you know someone that does auto body work or boat repair on the side, let them take a look at it.  If you take it to an RV repair place you will pay through the nose.  Also - you might want to check with your insurance company to see if they would cover the repair.  I'm so glad it was just cosmetic issues and nothing more serious.

Agree. If insurance won't cover then don't go thru the dealer, cut out the middleman and find out who they would call to do the work.
