  1. Lotsa towels, sheets, extra blankets, a couple of afghans (not live ones - but crocheted)

I know I should be embarrassed to tell this, but.....I had to read this statement 3 times before I got it. :(  I think it's time for another cup of coffee!

Thanks for sharing this ya'll.  I'm always taking notes for the camper that I'll own one day....(insert dreaming smiley).

    :(

I come by it honest.  I am blonde.  8)

  3. Disney charges what the market will bear and what people will pay.

I can honestly say that prior to 2001, you could pull up to the Fort check-in without a ressie and get a site. In 2000 I called the day before Thanksgiving and had no problem getting a ressie for the weekend.

Up until around 1995, they would also come around the night before you were due to check out and stick a note on your camper inviting you to extend your stay for a reduced rate.  Until 2004 they offered long term stay discounts if you stayed longer than 30 days.  They no longer do any of that because......they don't have to.  The Fort stays full year round now at the prices they currently charge.

Whether or not you can afford it is of no concern to Disney because there will always be those who can.

I have my price limit and if I can't get a ressie within that ball park, we don't go.

More than ever, I wish I had known about the Fort sooner!!!!!!!!

  4. We've been going for Christmas for many years and in recent years have added a shorter stay in the summer.  We deplore the high prices, but we don't do much besides our WDW/Fort visits.  For us it's still worth it and we'll likely cut other things to keep going there.  Besides, there are not a lot of places we can take our kids where we can either relax or jump in to all that is offered...on reasonably flat land where pushing wheelchairs is not so much of a chore.  We still make an occasional trip to Gatlinburg, but the Dollywood hills are getting to be a little too much.

You get in touch with me ANYTIME you'd like to come to Gatlinburg or Dollywood and I'll gladly push the wheelchairs for you. :rofl2:

  5. Yeah, I did, my ever changing work saga, can't hardly make plans anymore.

However, I will be at the following campgrounds, the following dates if anybody in the area has the camping bug:

Rutledge Lake RV Park, Fletcher, NC - April - May 1

May 1 - May 3, Townsend KOA, Townsend, TN

May 3 - May 4, Cumberland Gap National Historic Park, Wilderness Road Campground, Lee County, VA

May 4 - May 6, Cumberland Falls State Park, Kentucky

May 5 - May 8 Cave Country RV Campground, Cave City, KY

This will be an interesting trip.  The first 4 nights there will be almost 40 other T@B trailers (and a couple of T@DAs and an R-Pod or two)

The rest of the week, there will be about 10-12 T@Bs caravaning, FUN!!!!! :D :'(

    That sounds like a blast!

Townsend is a stone's throw from my house.  We'll be out of school and in town during that time, so if nothing else, I'd love to come meet one of the most organized campers I know!  I'll be in touch!  Ooh, I have something to look forward to!

  6. If you're a married woman then hug away. Not married? We can talk about that later.

Sure, sure.  That's a load of garbage.  You wouldn't even come see me last month.  I'm so hurt!!!  :'(

I was kinda thinkin the same thing.  I'm married, yet Donnie not only did not hug me, but he didn't even come see me when I was at the Fort?!?!?  And to top it all off, he was at the Fort!

Well, those who have already met me (cept Donnie) know I LOVE to hug! :D

  7. If we have the money then we are going and if we don't then we won't .

I agree.  Just yesterday I asked my 10 year old if she would want to stay at ASMo IF it would be cheaper. (It appears our next trip is going to just be the 2 of us.)  She let me know real quick like that even if we can't go until next year because we need more time to save, she would rather wait and stay at the Fort.  I love that girl!

  8. Those are great pics, H.  Thanks for sharing.  I might have to post some pics of mission trips that Lance and I have taken.  A couple of years ago Lance went to the Philippines and got sick as a dog.  He lost 10 pounds in 10 days.  The kids and I didn't even recognize him when he got off the plane.  The next year I went to Germany.  I gained 10 pounds in 10 days.  Lance and the kids didn't recognize me when I got off the plane. :rofl 2:

  9. We were the only ones on the bus and she jabbered at him non-stop from the time she got on the bus to the time she got off. I know he couldn't have heard anything over the noise of the engine, but he nodded and responded the whole time like he was having the conversation of his lifetime.

I don't know why it is, but we can hear conversations about a third of the way down the bus. People will be whispering and I can hear what they're saying. So watch out what you call the driver. Most of us enjoy talking to the passengers and with a doubt, the best part of the job is the kids. I especially enjoy talking and interacting with them.

A few weeks ago at the end of a trip, people were getting off a full bus and I noticed a mom working her way up through the crowd getting off in order to get to me. Turns out her little boy had been looking all over WDW for a toy bus with Mickey in it. Well he finally found it and insisted to his mom that he show it to me. I felt so honored.

Awe, both of those stories are so sweet.
