  1. Just to save you from making the same mistake I did ... buy the correct size hole saw first thing.

I had a smaller one that I already owned and tried to cheap out. I thought I could shave/sand the extra 1/2". It was impossible, at least for me. So, I bought the correct size hole saw and then realized it was too late. With nothing to grab onto, the saw did not work on the holes I had already made. I ended up cracking a big chuck from the big globe and had to buy a new one. Thankfully, they are stocked locally here.

    You're talking a language I don't understand, but I hope DH does! ;D

  2. We looked for parts around here this weekend too, and also couldn't find them. I guess we'll have to order them online too. I'm already doubting that we will have ours in time for our trip. DH doesn't seem very excited about making one for me. :(

Is he related to my DH? Mine doesn't seem overly excited either. However, I've asked him to make one for the last 2 years we've been to the Fort so he owes me. And don't you know I keep (gently)reminding him of that. ;)

  3. Yikes! This thing gets booked up fast! There was only 1 available time slot during the time we will be there. Looks like Thursday, October 6, at 10:30 p.m., which is past my bedtime :rofl2: , I'll be experiencing this! I'll have Lance (DH) take lots of pics. Seriously, I'll probably be asleep.

  4. I should have added that even if there was a choice available, I would still recommend the Haunted Carriage Ride. We have done it every year since they started the carriage rides (as opposed to the previous wagon rides), and hopefully we will get to do it again this year.

    TCD

I had a feeling you would say that. As soon as I get off this time-consuming computer, I'll go ahead and make my reservations. You do have to have reservations for the Haunted Carriage Ride, right?

  5. Liv-

For the past several years, when the Haunted Carriage Rides have been offered, there are no other horse drawn excursion options available.

My guess is that this year will be no different.

So there is no choice to make during the month of October- the Haunted Carriage Ride is the only option.

    TCD

Well there you go....the decision has been made. :rofl2:

  6. For some reason, I didn't get any e-mails that I had new replies to this, other than Monique's. And to boot, Firefox hasn't worked for days on my computer so I can't multi-quote. :argh:

Rita, we'll be there 9/30-10/8. I'm running the F&W HM while we're there. Your darn brother talked me into it. So, our carriage ride will take place after 10/1 but before 10/8.

Judy, y'all are going to the Fort for Halloween, right? I'm thinking your kiddos would love to do either of the carrige rides...regular or haunted. I'll let you know if the haunted is super haunted or just Disney haunted. lol

Pam, because I'm a SAHM, I tend to be frugal and always try to get the most bang for my buck, hence the original question. IIRC the regular ride is $45 for 45 minutes or something like that. The haunted is $60 for 20-25 minutes. I realize that's just $15 and if it's truly worth the extra $15, I'm all for the little splurge. If it's not, I'd rather spend my money on something else while we're at Diseny. No matter how you slice it, Disney's gonna get all my money! :rofl2:

  7. I don't have any firsthand knowledge but in case it's helpful, we do have a page of info here on the site about carriage rides...

    CHECK IT OUT HERE

Thanks, Monique. I didn't realize there were so many different options. I'm fairly certain we will do the haunted carriage ride because that's what the kids are wanting to do. :rofl2: I'll report back on our experience.

  8. Going to the Fort from TN, we stop over at my parents' house between Lake City and Jacksonville, FL. Then it is about a 3 hour drive from their driveway and that includes a quick stop at the rest area. ;) Any day that leads to the Fort is fine by me as long as it's Monday - Saturday. My favorite fast food place is closed on Sundays and I can't travel without my sweet tea and a milkshake. ;D Yeah I  Chick-fil-A!!!

  9. You're only about a month behind her.

I like Lisa's ticker. I'll get to see her, Bruce, and their new puppy.

I love Lisa's ticker, but it makes me regret my decision to not be there when she, Bruce, Fudge, and the new puppy are gonna be. :'(

If you're jealous of Lisa's ticker... take a gander at mine! Notice it doesn't say x amount of days UNTIL next trip. It says X amount of days SINCE last trip! At least you've got one coming up. The only thing left of mine is this TR and the sea of receipts! :rofl2:

    Now I'M jealous. ;)

I do have a trip coming up ... with a half marathon attached to it! :argh: What was I thinking? Obviously, I wasn't!!

  10. Enjoyed the pics! Glad I ran into you at the parade, it was fun getting to meet some of the fiends. I only wish I had gotten to meet more! My kids kept me running all week. It was our first trip to the fort in 3 years and the first time my youngest was tall enough to ride everything! So rides seemed to rule. I need to get busy and post some pics too!

    Yes, yes, you do!

  11. You're very welcome about the canoe trip! Lil' H loved having Ty along for the adventure. However, paybacks can be rough for posting certain pics. :rofl2: Just kidding... or am I?

Why a payback? That's an adorable pic! It's so you and I love it!!

Liv, if Lou ate all of that he was full, that was some rich peach cobbler, I ate bout half that and I was full. I believe Melissa made that and it was good.

Well shoot fire, you think Melissa can send me some cobbler? I hear people all the time say things are too rich to eat or have a lot of. I have never experienced that!

Liv thanks for the compliment, I hate the way I come out in pictures!!

I really have to ask my DH what he is on, he looks like he is having withdrawals :rofl2:

It's true, it is a good pic and you should not hate the way you look in pics...you're beautiful! Now Richie on the other hand is a handsome man, but he does look high his pic. Bob should have been a little gracious and not posted that. ;)

  12. HPIM2038.jpg

Is Lou on a diet or something? That ain't enought food to feed a mouse!

    HPIM2036.jpg

Lorna, that is a great picture of you!

That is a good picture, Lorna!

    HPIM2035.jpg

    Richie? you high?

It certainly appears Richie is high. :rofl2:

Looking forward to the weekend when I'll have some time to kick back and relax on the "Trip Report" section for awhile. Thanks for sharing, Bob! Oh and I'm so glad Kathy's visit went well!!

  13. Ok Liv...for you and Gretchen. Another BONUS installment! Made up just for you:

So, after leaving Defeated Creek, we were all excited to see It's Not Cindy...but we didn't really want to go home. So I pulled the trailer up in front of the Nashville airport to pick up DW, and then decided to surprise the girls. The big van just didn't want to go home, so just like Carol and Rick's truck it refused to turn. We hopped on the new interstate highway, I-00, and drove to the Fort! That new road sure is a shortcut; we made the drive from middle TN to the Fort in 90 minutes!

Check in was a breeze! Even though we didn't have a reservation, they had a VIP spot reserved for us in Loop 3000 at no charge!!

Dinner that first night was a GAG. Man that was tasty! We sat on the porch at Trails End and enjoyed it. They were running drink specials at Crockett's that night. $0.50 beers and $1 top shelf drinks. They also had a free buffet open, which we sampled a bit even though we had finished our GAG. The hostess outside the HDDR then waved us over, and said they had a no show for a table of 7 and let us sit in for free!!

After the HDDR, we were pretty tired so we retired to our campsite and enjoyed the hottub a bit. After the kids settled in, DW and I took the complimentary golf cart over to Mickey's Backyard Massage Parlor and Casino, and enjoyed a couple of backrubs while playing some slots. I won $100,000. DW had to show me up. She won $200,000.

The next morning we enjoyed the made to order omelets that the chef was preparing at the Loop 3000 pavilion, and then headed to the marina to take the boat to the MK. At the gates, we were selected to get unlimited fastpasses for the day!! And if that wasn't cool enough, we were picked to stay that night in the suite inside Cinderella's castle!! As nice as I'm sure it is up there, we politely declined, as we were expecting visitors that evening at our campsite. Pete and WMK from Voldemort were stopping by for drinks and dinner!! I had a fine single malt scotch and some steaks that I wanted to enjoy. DW and I did enjoy them, while we fed Pete and WMK Stroh's beer and green hot dogs. :rofl2: Oh, and cupcakes for dessert, of course.

The next morning, it was time to head home. So, after the Loop 3000 CM's packed us up, we were off. A quick 90 minutes later on I-00 and were home in TN. Great trip!

And now this TR is officially concluded. :parrot:

I knew you wouldn't let me down. Thanks!

Oh and what's up with our talented spouses? God gifted both of them with incredible talents and the only talent we can claim is the unique ability to ohhhh-hannna.
