  1. Just wondering if someone could answer this.  I was poking around the web today and several articles seemed to indicate that direct bus routes from the fort to specific parks are eliminated and now you must go to tic and transfer bus to final destination.  I was there last summer and direct bus transportation was still available.  did something change?

  2. His name is Walter, kids named him after Mr. Disney.  He is all mine from 8 weeks.  Not therapy specific training just friendly make you feel good kind of thing.  I will pick several venues (retirement homes/assisted living, library kids reading to dogs, kids with disabilities, and maybe hospice) and let the dog show me which one he likes best.  The one and only time the dog will tell me where to go.  He sits about 30in at shoulders and weighs in at 150lbs.  He was camping this weekend.  Fellow campers wanted to steal him away but I do not think Walt would go for it.  He has it pretty nice around here.  This summer will be his second trip to WDW.  Dogs are truly neat creatures.  Plus he likes to go fishing with me.

  3. Check out this newly certified therapy dog.  The big boy passed all his tests with flying colors.  He is now a member of Therapy Dogs International.  He will be 2 in August...... had his Canine Good Citizen before he was a year.

  4. I am going to be at the fort this August, fishing of course between park visits.  I will gladly offer up my fly fishing knowledge to anyone who wants to try something new.  Young or old can do it.  My 4yr old was catching crappie (calico bass) on the fly just the other night.  I always have extra rods and plenty of flies. Furthermore, if done correct 90% of fish can be released without touching them (for you fish squimish folks out there)  I fish that area (behind loop 300) all the time, just walk up and say hi.

  5. I fish any free time I have when at the fort.  I have caught lg mouth bass and brim (panfish up north) in lake, canal behind 300 and canal from cart entrance to meadows pool.  More bass than brim.  It kind of surprised me that last August I caught more bass from say 3-5pm than if I went out when it was cooler at 6am or 6pm.  Not what I expected but how it worked out.  all my stuff was topwater frogs and poppers/plugs.  I only fly fish for bass, what a fun time catching a 6lber on a the fly.  We did book a few fishing trip and they were worth the money.  There were five of us, two adults and three kids, first am trip everyone caught fish, including a 5.5lb lg mouth, 10lb catfish and slew of smaller bass.  Kids enjoyed it because it was only 2hrs and you got to fish in the shadow of the castle with Disney music and sounds in the background.  I took a afternoon trip alone and scored over 17 lg mouth weighing in between 2.5-3.5 lbs.  Not monsters but constant action that afternoon, really fun.  As far as price goes there is usually a 20% off coupon floating around somewhere which made the price reasonable when factoring the fact that the guide will attend to the kiddos, thus freeing me and dw up to fish.

  6. I do not own a 5er but I can offer this.  As far a resale goes it do agree 5ers are harder to sell.  My neighbor had his for sale for over a year, no takers, he still has it.  It is a nice 5th wheel, higher end model.  I listed my travel trailer on Craigslist and sold it within one week to the first guy at asking price.  As I understand 5ers do tow better because the pin weight is located above the rear axel, thus minimizing sway.  Now what I do have experience with is towing up and down the east coast, Boston - Richmond corridor with 18 wheelers surrounding me and steep grade in the mountainous regions of PA and upstate NY.  Had wd/sway on tt and did well but on occasion get squirrelly, but I recently upgraded to a 31' tt (overall length) with a propride p3 hitch.  Guess what..... these hitches work and work well.  TT and truck are one unit going down road, sway gone or reduced to a point of no concern.  So do not let the towing characteristics of a TT vs 5er  be a deciding factor.   With the correct hitch a TT can have road manners like a 5th wheel.

  7. we camped there with the kids in the fall for a Halloween weekend.  had a good time with the kids.  partial hook-ups up on the hill do border tracks, so noise is factor when train runs but these sites appeared to be larger with more shade than the creek sites ,except a few sites which back into creek.  the other creek area sites were open and closer together.  we camped on the hill going up toward the partial sites, so we were close to train.  not that bad but I grew up with trains flying by all hours.

  8.   Just upgraded from 22' non-slider nomad joey to a greywolf 26dbs.  Anyone have any pitfalls to be aware of with greywolf trailers or for that matter in general when owning a trailer with a slide.  I have the towing aspect all covered, so the tow police need not reply.  I am more interested in there are any quirks or common problems greywolf/Cherokee trailers have and of course owner opinions.

    thanks in advance

  9. Thanks for the responses.  Glad to hear the Internet is a cable modem, greater bandwidth during non peak useage and it just so happens I have an older wireless router.   Does any now if the cable modem they provide has multiple outputs (doubles as a wired router)?  They usually have two to four ports avail.

as for my reservation for loop 400, that is what I asked for and have some confidence in mgt. to put me there.  If they have to put me somewhere else, who cares I am still at disney world!!   It's a vacation not complain-ation.

  10. Hello fellow campers,   We will be at the fort this August and I am wondering if wdw has upgraded or changed the wifi accessibility.  We will be in loop 400 and looking for some info if wifi is avail there? Reason being, If wifi is there I can use a web cam to monitor my trailer temps (ie power outage etc...) for the air conditioner, thus keeping my pup nice and comfy.  Otherwise I will just leave a smartphone and remotely snap a picture.

  11. I am wondering if you can bring your dog along with the family for a walk around the downtown disney area at night?  He is classified as a giant breed but gentle with good canine citizenship certification and currently in training for therapy dog.  Obviously I am not intending to shop with him nor have a dine-in experience, just think it would be cool to snap a few photos of the big guy there with his human pups.

  12. Thanks for the info.    Now that we know they all differ a little, what about those in loop 400?  Does anyone know which has greater depth or width?  My trailer is 26'.  Btw I do know loop 400 is a pet loop and that is where we want to be, walking distance to boat transportation, and for our mastiff named Walter (kids named him after guess who?).  Who is considered a dog as per wdw, but he is a family member around here, just another kid to take care of.

  13. We have a premium site booked for late summer this year and I was wondering, are all premium sites created equal?  Is there any space at the rear to pitch a fairly large tent?  Last year we had a preferred site in loop 100 and there was enough room for a tent at the rear of the site.  I did do the logical thing and called the disney people for info and the operator was less than helpful.  I think she was just reading the info on her screen and we went in circles.  I like to put up my canvas tent and use it like an additional room for my TT.  I put a floor down, tv, inflatable furniture , AC , etc....I use it as my living room away from home.  However if there is not enough space then I will not pack the stuff and save my back and truck suspension..
