  1. Hey I was trying to be nice they did say they were newbies............. and they are the most fun to watch!!!!!!

Yes, I'm sure the experienced RVers will quickly pull their lawn chairs out, grab their drinks, and watch us as we provide a show :)

Why don't you try upgrading to a site with sewer?

    Problem solved.

Do you really want to be dragging around a giant blue tank to dump?

At a site with sewer, your hose goes right in the drain, and you're done.

    Just a money thing...

  2. So fiends, we purchased a tow vehicle and are getting ready to tow our camper from the storage lot to our home.  Have to say... a little nervous about this.  I'm reading everything I can get my hands on and sending out requests to friends for prayer that we don't loose our trailer on 75!  Haha... not quite, but... well, almost.

Any words of wisdom before our maiden voyage?  Anything we should triple check and be extra careful of?  I know the camper has a weight distribution hitch and an anti sway bar.  I hooked up the brake controller and am praying that I did it right :)

  3. Thank you for posting that, Tim.  I remember reading it in the past.

Don't hybrid trailers have built-in storage tanks for both gray and black water?

I can tell you from my own personal observations that the Fort does a terrible job communicating to guests that they shouldn't dump waste water on the ground.  Every Thanksgiving, there's a group who brings full sized kitchen appliances to the Fort.  I've seen them on the 2000 loop several times. They had a discharge hose from a regular home model dishwasher dumping right into a ditch.  Disgusting.

But, just because the Fort does a bad job enforcing the rules doesn't mean that it's acceptable to dump waste water on the ground.

Campers should strive to have as little impact on the environment as possible.  Don't throw trash on the ground, and collect and dispose of waster water properly.  If you're going to camp, learn the rules.

Yes...the camper does have storage tanks, but I was concerned that the bath water may get too full (I guess that would only happen if he had a bath every night).  Thanks, Carol, for the suggestion on a blue tank....before you mentioned it, I didn't even know they existed (newbie, remember :) ).

Actually.... you want a good laugh??  We were at Camping World a couple of weeks ago looking in their store.  I was looking at some kitchen stuff while my husband watched the kids; I could see our youngest out of the corner of my eye.  When Carol mentioned the blue tank, I looked it up and showed it to Tom.  He said, "Oh yeah...that's what Brandon was playing with at Camping World".  I said "Really?  I thought it was luggage".  True story fiends  ::)

  4. We have two more trips planned to The Fort this year and both are slated for loop 1500 (hopefully) aka tent/pop-up site. We recently purchased a cute hybrid and my question is water.

I know the site has electricity and water, and I know that we do not have access to sewer so we are planning to dump the tank after our stay.  Having said that, we will actually use the commode very little (if any) but do have plans to use the tub to wash our youngest and maybe the sink to clean some dishes.

Question:  Any ideas if Disney will let you drain water at the site?  Heck... can you drain water or it that part of the sewer system (as you can tell, we are BRAND NEW to anything but tent camping).   :)

  5. Mine is not perfect either but it works just fine. I can make it correct my moving one side out a click or 2 with the flush mount.

Sent from my Moto X using Tapatalk

I was going to lower the left side one click, but then it looked lower on the left side...so I left it as it.

I'm going to guess 10% is not going to make a big difference as it will still be able to sense deceleration and send appropriate voltage to the trailer brakes.

    Hope so!!

  6. Okay.... so I purchased the basic controller (Primus IQ) as the reviews were good and our camper is not huge (under 3800 lbs) so I was thinking that this should probably be adequate (hope I wasn't wrong?!).    THEN... I actually braved it and installed it myself.  Not difficult, except for finding the actual plug which was hidden waaayyyy the heck up under the front dash (who designed that??!!).  Question that I have, is if I mounted it correctly.  I actually mounted it twice, as after the first installation I realized that it was not facing straight forward (with the flow of traffic) which is what the instructions called for.  Now I'm concerned that it may be leaning a little towards the passenger's seat and not completely level.  Is this okay??  I tried to upload a pic to this post, but the "techie" in me (which is to say... not) couldn't figure out how to do it  :-

  7. One thing I forgot to mention is that they don't have enough of those cable boxes on hand to meet guest demand.

Yep.  We were there in February (slow time of the year, right?!) and they had NO boxes.... cable or internet.  The waiting list was 20+ long and the CM said we might be able to get one, in about 6 days... so right when we were packing up to head back home.    ???

  8. :welcome:

Our sweet girl just turned 7.  She loves everything mentioned above.  She is now too big for the pony rides (sigh), but she still loves, loves, loves:  the pool, chip-n-dale and the movie (if it's G as she has a very vivid imagination :) ), the playgrounds and the hula hoops they have in front of the Trails End (restaurant).

She also loves watching the boat parade at night and fireworks (from MK).... both down at the beach.

    Have a magical time!!

  9. Funny.... Tom laughed when I purchased our last tent as it actually had an a/c tab built in (so you could use a window a/c to cool the tent).  Of course now we're excited to use the a/c in our little camper...but glad to see that others would actually consider trying to use a/c in a tent :)   As for this set-up, I would imagine it could cool... but I agree about the humidity factor.

  10. What is the tow vehicle's make, mode, year and did it come with a factory tow kitl?

Most RV/ Uhaul dealership hack up the OEM wireing doing the wireing installs.  I have yet to have a "professional" install last laonger then 3 years before problems come up because they cut corners.

Usualy there is a plug and play or least damaging option that soem one has spent the time to research online.

Thanks.  Right now we are looking at a 2006 Infiniti QX56 (I say "right now" as the dealership is suppose to fix a few things before we actually buy It). That car is pre-wired, so we may actually try this on our own.

Next question for those of you fiends who like Prodigy.... Prodigy P2 or P3?  Which one is best?

  11. Also, I actually have the brake controller we put in my QX56 right after we got it and just before we sold our trailer. I've never gotten around to listing it on craigslist. I'm sure I could talk my husband into selling it for a good deal. It was never used. We even have the box.

Thanks, but I would have no idea on how to install it....??   On the wiring, Infiniti said it should be wired, if that's the case...do I simple plug it in?  That makes me nervous as I don't want to do anything wrong.  I think we're probably better off having a professional install it.

I'm thinking brake controllers are like any other electronics, they are all made by 2 manufacturers under many different labels.

Funny enough, the company I spoke with today said the exact same thing.

  12. These guys are all clowns. The only opinion that is worth anything is mine. Buy a Ford truck.

Haha... we had looked at the trucks and decided next time my husband needs a car (which is hopefully not for at least 5 years) we may want a larger trailer and we'd do both at the same time.  Larger trailer and a larger (Ford) truck.  So no worries... we may follow that opinion.... eventually :)
