    How so?

Disney get's it's money for the site and they give away nothing of any dollar value to them.

FPs and the parking fee, costs them nothing unless the park is sold out or the parking lots are completely full, which hardly ever happens.

I think you're right.  My first thought, was that it felt dishonest because someone was saying they would do something (purchase a site and stay there) and then not.  Well, it isn't so much "and then not", but that they knew from the get-go that they wouldn't.  That, in itself, is the simplest form of dishonestly.  Say one thing, and then do another.  However... your point is valid.  They paid for the spot; if they don't choose to use it, then that's their choice.  Personally...I have no problem with all the spots around me "filling" up this way.  Makes for a quieter stay for our family!  ::)

With all that said, I know of many cast members who place Walt's ideals at their highest priority, and look upon their jobs as much more than employment.  The company still cares for their cast members as was evident in the Cast Service Celebration a few weeks ago.  And many cast members at Fort Wilderness epitomize the Disney of the past, people like Josephine, the hostess at Trails End, and Ken a server at Trails End.

Just had to chime in and agree.... we LOVE ken.  I can't imagine anyone more Disney than he.  Such a wonderful, sweet, happy man.

I would be surprised if you even got a response, but they may be in a good mood and send you a letter back apologizing.  Even so, I am convinced that Disney doesn't really give a hoot if you come back or not.  If you don't ever come back there will be about 10 others to replace you and they know that.

This one I'd have to disagree with.  Maybe we've just been "lucky", but over the past 10 years I've written Disney 2 or 3 times to comment on some frustrating experiences; each time, I received a phone call.  On the flip side, I always try to submit positive comments as well...if they don't hear the good, not sure how long they will continue to respond to the bad. Anyway...we did get a response back on our complaints.

  3. We ran into some fire ants in September; called Disney and they sent out their grounds crew to treat the area with granules which seamed to help. We have black ants often in our home here in GA (even with quarterly pest control.... they are persistent little things!) and the Terro liquid baits have worked the best for us.

  4. If you are in 100 and 1100 close to a cabin you should get a good wifi signal, There are also parts of 600 where you will pick-up the signal from the TP. We bring our own wifi router and plug it into their modem, works great. As to the cable of you don't have digital TV's all you wil get is about 6/7 channels without their converter box.

Wow, that's probably why we had such good luck with our wifi this September....we were in the 100 loop right next door to a cabin.  Bummer, I thought Disney had just made some improvements.   So... this year, we have three trips planned, and will probably be in the 1500 loop; sounds like we shouldn't count on getting wifi reception    Oh well... we're there to play and have some good family time anyway.... we can watch TV or look things up online, any old time  ::)

  5. Don't bust her bubble. Grandma went swimming numerous days in Feb as long as the temp was around 75. You have to remember that the FORT keeps the pool around 80 in the winter.

Good thought, thanks  ^-^   We'll watch the weather closely, as our trip gets closer.  This is actually a surprise trip for our daughter's 7th birthday, so if it's going to be super cold...then we'll just try and push back a month or two.  I grew up in Washington State where 70 is tank top and shorts weather but, after 10 years in Georgia, I realize that I do not appreciate being cold.  I'd much rather sweat, than freeze.  ::)

Wild Womenz Weekend was February last year (Pres weekend) and it was nice and sunny during the day - maybe 70ish - but it got gosh darn C-O-L-D at night.  Like, this cold...

Just looking at the picture makes me cold!  We were at the Fort in November of 2012 and had some chilly days/nights.  Yuck.  Thankfully however, no rain!  Also...read your post on your accident.  Praise God for His mercies!!  Walking away (all of you) without serious injury...what a miracle.

  6. Thanks...we're scheduled to arrive on the 4th, so I think we may just miss ya Kelly  :-  Prayerfully, jeans and shirt would be great.  Our daughter would love to swim but...I'm going to prepare her that that probably won't happen.  We'll be back in June so, she should get plenty of time to swim that visit  :thumbsup1:

  7. So... any bets on if we'll freeze our tushes off, with our visit the first week in February?  I'm rethinking the trip; maybe we should push it back a couple of months?  We don't have to be in shorts and tank tops (although that's my preference  ^_^), but I also don't want to be in three layers.

Thoughts from you experienced winter campers?

  8. Mr. Negative here again, but I don't think the cabin is worth the price. Unless you can get some super discount the higher end of $350 per night for the cabin is rediculous. For a few bucks more or sometime for the same price you could stay at the lodge and live it up while still walking or boating to the fort for the day and their activities

I agree...they are pricey, unless you can get a good deal...which is why we've only rented a cabin once.  Renting the RV was cheaper and now were are tenting it.  I think the original post said the cost (RV vs Cabin) was pretty close so, I'm guessing they got a good deal.

Staying in a cabin is not camping. You want the full FW experience, you do it in an RV or tent. None of this wimpy, mamby pamby cabin crap. Now if you really want an experience, you will reserve a site in the 3000 loop.

    True there too :0)

  9. We've done both...well, actually all of it:  Tent, rented an RV, rented a cabin.  We have 2 adults and 2 small children.  Love it all.  Benefit of both the RV and cabin is air/heat.  Nice thing about the RV, is often times it includes a golf cart which is nice to have.  In my opinion, you might be more comfortable in the cabin (with 6 people) than with the RV...simple because I think the cabin will be a little quieter than the RV (they tend to move/squeak some).  Also, the full size bathroom in the cabin is much nicer than the small RV bath....plus, the cabin may be cleaner than a rented RV.

Just my 2 cents.  I'm sure you'll have a great time...no matter which you choose  :thumbsup1:

  10. Yep... the little croc style things.  I had heard (from fiends here) that they fall off...I was only considering buying a set as we are surprising our daughter with a trip to WDW in February, for her birthday.  I thought it would be fun to let her unwrap her bracelet/band with the sparkling little minnie's attached and then explain that we're going back to Disney...but maybe I'll just wait till we get there and offer to buy her one pack at the parks.  Looks like you can a buy a package of 3 for $6.95 and they're $16+ online.  I just customized our bands today, and should get those a couple of weeks before we leave, so she can still unwrap that :0)

    Thanks fiends!

  11. You can make reservations at the Barber Shop.

And there is an age limit on BBB, I want to say 12?

Yes, previous post is correct, you can make reservations for the barber shop.  We took our son there last year, on his 1st birthday, for his 1st haircut.  Wonderful experience and (actually) a decent value!   Our daughter is almost 7 and we haven't done the BBB yet, simply because it is so expensive.  Having said that, I've asked several mommies at the park (whose daughters had obviously been there) if they were happy with the experience...and they've all said yes.

    Have fun!

  12. A man after my own heart.  BAN Fast Passes.  Make everyone take their turn and wait in line.  Make a dinner reservation when you get on site.  All of these "improvements" are taking the fun out of going to DW.

I like the idea of the magic band being a room key, and maybe adding charging privileges and access to other things.  As long as the bands are secure, it seems like a better system then keeping track of a card.  I just don't like the Fast Pass system.  But then again I remember E tickets...

E tickets were great.  The really nice thing about the tickets, was if you could not ride the rides (as, physically, some people just cannot....but they want to go to Disney to watch their loved ones have fun), then you did not have to pay to walk around the park.

  13. So far, it looks like there hasn't been a group yet whose MagicBands have worked flawlessly.

It's nice of all of you to be Disney's human guinea pigs.  I hope that they are compensating you for all the time you've been spending in guest services and at the front desk.

I am amazed by the fact that they are sending multiple sets of MagicBands to people with multiple reservations, and providing them to guests who don't have park tickets.

I would wonder how much this is costing Disney, but they've already told us that they have spent over a billion dollars on this project.

Wow. For that kind of expenditure I would have expected them to work a little better than they have so far.

    TCD

Wow... a billion, really??  I had not heard that one yet; that's unbelievable  :dropjaw:  I guess we now know (one of the reasons) Disney can be so expensive....

  14. Hi Judy!

    Sorry...busy day.

I apologize as there has been a change.  I logged on tonight, to post a notice that the tickets were no longer available.  Talked with my folks late last night; they believe that are going to join us at the Fort next fall so...we're going to let them use the tickets.  I had no idea that they had any interest in going back, or I would have never listed them for sale.  I apologize again.

Thank you for offering to purchase them.  Carol gave some places above, that offer discounted tickets...not much higher than what I was selling mine for.  Maybe you can pick some up there?

Thanks again and have a GREAT trip!!
