Adventurers Club to return for one night with Pleasure Island: Rewind event, part of D23′s Destination D at Walt Disney World
 

Today D23 has announced additional details for their highly-anticipated upcoming special Walt Disney World event, Destination D: Attraction Rewind. Since first announcing the event in January, it has been moved from summer to take place at Disney’s Contemporary Resort November 22-23, 2014, set to feature Disney archivists, Imagineers, and Legends together to celebrate favorite Disney attractions from the past.
 

Concluding the weekend trip down memory lane will be the newly-announced evening event called Pleasure Island: Rewind. Celebrating the nightlife area of Downtown Disney that closed in 2008, Pleasure Island: Rewind will feature areas dedicated to the Adventurers Club, Comedy Warehouse, Mannequins, and 8 Trax.
 

These original clubs are long gone from Downtown Disney, but will be recreated at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for this special nighttime event, which will end with Pleasure Island’s classic “New Year’s Eve” celebration.
 

Disney and D23 have not yet revealed exactly what these “areas” will feature, but there will likely be some entertainment offerings, such as some familiar Adventurers Club characters. And there’s a very real possibility the famous Kungaloosh drink will reemerge as well.

In addition to Pleasure Island: Rewind, presenters and panelists scheduled to appear at the Destination D event include Disney Legends Marty Sklar, Bob Gurr, and Alice Davis, Walt Disney Archives Director Becky Cline, Disney and World’s Fair historians Bill Cotter, Stacia Martin, and Michael Kelley, with more to be announced.
 

A special exhibit designed by the Walt Disney Archives is also being designed for the event. Mickey’s of Glendale, the famed Walt Disney Imagineering store, will also set up a pop-up shop for attendees, with plenty of merchandise to purchase.
 

Destination D: Attraction Rewind will take place in the convention center at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
 

Tickets will become available Wednesday, April 16. At first they will cost $190 each, available exclusively until May 28 for D23 Gold and Silver Members. After that period, remaining tickets will be made available to D23 Free Members for $250 per ticket. All attending guests will receive a gift representing Disney’s contributions to the 50th anniversary of the 1964–65 World’s Fair in New York City.
 

There will also be a limited number of “Top of the World” tickets at $1,000 each, offering reserved seating for all presentations, early shopping opportunities at Mickey’s of Glendale on November 21, an exclusive evening event with a private viewing of Carousel of Progress, dinner reception and viewing of the Electrical Water Pageant, special collectibles, and more gifts.
 

The full Destination D: Attraction Rewind schedule will be released as the event draws nearer.

Reserved seating for all presentations ... does this mean that all participants won't get a seat?

 

Early shopping opportunities ... Disney can rake in even more of my hard-earned cash.

 

Private viewing of Carousel of Progress ... we got that free the last time we saw COP.

 

Dinner reception ... we went to a D23 dinner a few years ago.  It was about like have dinner at TE or CP, only with free wine and being held in a closed venue.  Our estimated value:  around $60 each.

 

Viewing of the Electrical Water Pageant ... again free.

 

Special collectibles, and more gifts ... for $1,000/person I hope they are better than our D23 event gifts:

Seriously, thank you for reporting on this.

 

I have been tempted by the descriptions of some of these events.  This one in particular actually sounds interesting.

 

But, then there are the reports from folks who have actually laid out their hard-earned money to attend these things.  There are a lot of disappointed folks out there.  I don't plan on being the next.

I have been tempted by the descriptions of some of these events.  This one in particular actually sounds interesting.

 

But, then there are the reports from folks who have actually laid out their hard-earned money to attend these things.  There are a lot of disappointed folks out there.  I don't plan on being the next.

Andrew, I still love the Mouse despite our D23 experience.  The reviews of the first M&M were wonderful.  We just got shortchanged in many areas of our trip to the second M&M, the biggest one being only 7 minutes in Cinderella's suite instead of the 15 minutes we should have had (why try to make up the shortfall with just our group -- spread it out!).  The weather was unbearable, and D23 did nothing to help the situation. They could easily have added propane heaters, especially at dinner on the Indiana Jones stage.  And we waited behind stage at EPCOT over 30 minutes in that freezing cold to board an empty bus -- all because they hired drivers who didn't know how to load an ECV.

 

Our reserved area for MSEP was outside the Diamond Horseshow ... not great.  Our reserved area for Wishes was at the Rose Garden ... imagine squeezing 200 people in there in the freezing cold.

 

Our experience was poorly managed.  That's the bottom line.  And that's why I didn't renew our D23 membership.  And why I won't join again.
