Haven't posted in forever...but need advice...

My whiney child (age 14) refuses to go. He's lost his pixie dust and said he's tired of Disney so he's staying home with the grandparents!

Have you had him checked?..Just kidding ..Really

Our daughter was the same way at that age. Granted we were going every 2 or 3 weekends but we have no extended family within 700 miles of us so we all just had to tough it out.  She loves our camping trips but when we go only for the weekend with intent of going to the parks we just get a room for the night. Maybe if she had a sister or friend that could go she would have had more fun.  Teens these days they seem more interest in their phones and friends.

We tented over Halloween and the temps dropped to,the mid 40s two nights.

We were on an elevated air mattress. We put a blanket down for insulation, then covered up. It kept us warm. Wear socks, and a knit cap to keep extra warm and sweat shirt/pants. The worst part was during the day and the wind. Once the wind stopped it was nice and a refreshing treat from the normal Florida humidity.

If you go the heater route, they have those sealed oil filled radiators that are the safest. No exposed heating elements.

We are here now in a tent. We have a sleeping bag between us and the air matress, very important because the air mattress will conduct heat or lack there of. Space heater is recommended. We have one and have been here to low 40s, which shockingly it is supposed to do again this trip.

How are you surviving with all of the rain?

What loop/site are you in.

Have you flooded out ?

It's been a constant heavy rain here in Tampa since about 8:00 a.m. yesterday.

We are in the 1200 loop. We have the economy accommodations next to the deluxe accommodations (our tent is next to my parents motorhome). Our tent is on the concrete pad. We have a tarp that we put over the rain fly so no leaks but the floor is wet. It has been wet with almost constant rain since Monday night. Been making the best of it, of course rain is supposed to stop and now get chilly.

Good luck and have a great Thanksgiving.

Supposed to be cooler but clear thru Friday, then back up to the 70's starting Saturday for about a week.

Put a sheet of plastic inside your tent as well as underneath!

This will keep the water mostly underneath the plastic and not soaking into your stuff.
