Our Disney Christmas 2010

Recommended Posts

In an attempt to add content I thought I'd do a TR.  I know there is already one Christmas TR up... but more never hurts..right?  The only thing is you won't see pics of my kids.  Hubby and I have an agreement about not posting the kids...sorry.

Here we go.  We didn't arrive by the front gate of MK.  We had downloaded a GPS POS that had us coming in the back way.

Our first look at both the boat and Cinderella's Castle

We spent the first afternoon wandering around the canal, marina, TCD ranch, etc.  We also spent about 45 minutes at the playground and dog park.  Not to mention DH had to track down that leak.

The next day we were off to DHS... but more to come on that later...

Great start.  Questions:  1.  Were you the one who questioned whether the Ole Airstream would be welcome at the Fort?  If so, it is a great looking RV.  We would appreciate seeing some inside pictures.  2.  What was that brown "box" being worked on...where the leak was?  3.  A delicate question..Is it a personal concern about not showing the kids?  I've seen other posters with the same outlook, and others who willingly show the kids having fun.  Comment:  Love the holstein.

Hope to see you at the Fort some day.

Answers - I don't thinks I was the one who asked that.. but it's possible.  As for inside pictures, we have about a thousand.. would it be ok just to send you to our blog: http://airstreamingdreaming.blogspot.com

That is under the kitchen(galley) sink which is a work in renovation right now.  There were actually 3 leaks.  The previous owner had replaced copper pipes with all manner of dubious methods.  White hose connected to pipes with those rings things, electrical tape over a busted copper pipe... etc.  Some of them have been replaced and others are fixed as they spring the leaks.  Unfortunately, we had some horrible roads going down and it bumped a lot of things loose.  We are working up to replacing the entire plumbing system... but that's a spring project.

Not a delicate question at all.  I've seen a lot of photo theft of mommy blogs and facebook pages.  People actually steal the pictures and post them on their own blogs presenting them as their children.  I'd prefer to avoid some of those difficulties.  I've also noticed that many of the kids come to resent and request not being blogged about when they reach the teen years.  We decided to give the kids the right to privacy until they decide if they want to blog themselves.  Besides very few of my family who would want to see pictures are actually on the web....

I have actually seen you at the Fort... I think.  If I am correct, a few days before the accident I happened to share the same bus stop with you.  I just didn't realize it was you.  It was early afternoon and I was taking the kids to the pool.  I believe you and your DD's got on the bus with us and your wife waited with DS for next bus.  We were also 5 sites down from another Fiend... unfortunately, I noticed them on our Epcot and MK days..... and I didn't get a chance to visit.

Our first full day we spent at DHS.  Since DH had to work that day it was just me and the kids.  I didn't take the camera until we went back for the lights.  This trip was about doing all the things we missed last trip(we arrived on Star Wars Weekend).  So we started the day at Toy Story Mania with a 45 minute wait.. not to bad.  (I avoid the fastpass line.  I understand why people like it but I try to avoid it if possible.)  We hit the backlot tour, the stunt show, B&B, had lunch, watched the block party come out of the gate (too late to get good spots), then headed back to the Fort for dinner and a rest.

After which we went back for the Osbourne Family Lights and (at the kids insistence and a two hour wait) Toy Story Mania w/Daddy.

We then had a Fort Day.  We had bike rides(looping & WL), swimming (yes, I got in but froze), shopping, and ended the day with the campfire sing along (discovered that I don't like smores...never had them before. Yes, I did the Hokey Pokey!).

Thursday it was off to MK.  I love early morning magic hours.  We got Buzz Lightyear, Dumbo, Snow White, The Carrousel, and It's A small World done just in time to jump in the line for The Haunted Mansion.  We then got Pirates, Alladin's Carpet Ride, lunch, The Enchanted Tiki Room and the Jungle Cruise done by 12:30.  We split up.  The boys went home to care for the dogs and the girls went off for Thunder Mountain Railway (the boys don't like Roller coasters).

I want to know if anyone has ever tried to ride a roller coaster while holding a 6 year old's head off the metal bar because she was trying to bury her head in my stomach!!  From the first small hill!

After which we rode Goofy's Barnstomer (same problem as before..).  At which point, the boys were back.  We parked it on the sidewalk for the parade... now for those pics:

After the parade, we went back to the Fort.  We had watched the fireworks from the beach (I think it's a better show from FW) the second night of our trip.

On Christmas Eve, we headed out to EPCOT.  We had seen very little of EPCOT on our first trip and regretted it immensely.  Previously we'd seen half of the showcase and that was it.

We started the day by trying to avoid getting trampled by the people heading to Soarin.  After a 30 minutes wait, we got on Soarin.  Great ride.  After a few more rides in the same area we headed to have Mexican food by the  water.  We then started in Mexico and worked our way around the showcase until Morrocco (the last place we'd seen on the trip before).  I have to say it was most fascinating.  I particularly enjoyed the showcases with rides in them.

We took the boat back across the water.  We skipped things like Mission Space and the Test Track as our kids would not have enjoyed them(see roller coaster incident above) yet.  We then headed back to the Fort via the Monorail and the Boat from the Contemporary.  That was a treat to see what the resorts along the route look like.  I will say that I don't think I'd like to stay at many of them...

By the way, the big water main break was directly in front of our loop.  We were without water for some time.  They did turn the water on long enough for everyone in the loop to fill up their fresh water tanks .. but what a mess.

Christmas Day was a Fort Day.  We had to open gifts in two shifts.  One for Santa and one for the relatives... we had to make the beds so we could pull out the grandparent gifts.  Hard to store gifts!  After the gifts were done, we took the kids for an hour of sliding at the pool.  You can't call it swimming when all they do is slide, get out, slide, get out, slide.  We then went for another bike ride (looping, WL, Nature Trail).  We decided to go to the Campfire Sing-along one more time.  We almost stayed for the movie but decided an early night was needed for the departure the next day.

Great report and pics!  We were in 328 in September!  That is an awesome site, isn't it?  We loved how it backed up to the canal.

< Insert popcorn smilie here >

We loved that site.  Great access to the canal, the dogs got a walk daily around to the dog park, and a quickish walk to see the fireworks and floating parade!

Disclaimer on this one:

My husband is the one that got these night time photos.  Only he has the patience and steadiness of hand to get any of these.  Trust me, I once did a study of the moon w/out tripod... the 4 pictures that came out looked like a swirl of light.  Of course, he used digital and I was using a 15 yr old minolta with REAL film and no idea what I was doing....
