PureTcrazy & Runner bring bad weather to the Fort!

Recommended Posts

Ok, y?all I am not real good at the Trip Report thing, but I want to do my part! This is gonna be like all my reports, short & sweet with very few pics! It begins with a shout out to my DB Runner for footing the bill and to Donnie for his rental service!

So the day finally arrives that we are leaving for the fort! The plans are to take off between 7 and 8, of course that means Mama and Edward are here at 6:50! I take a quick shower and wake up my grumpy-butt son and we actually pull out a few about 7:45. We end up taking 2 cars because we can?t fit all the food and us in one carimages?q=tbn:ANd9GcQxFuH6qwd_nJiLsSeFYrZaA9e3SiA755QQi8zmxeWcb2nL0-k_&t=1 so Mama and I go in one and Chris and Edward in the other!

Our first stop has become a tradition for our trips, a stop at the Hardee?s in Quincy. They have the best biscuits around!

Country Fried Steak & Gravy Biscuit! My favorite!

Chicken Biscuit, my son's fav and also what Runner ordered!

Mama's favorite is the Country Ham biscuit!

We fill up our growling stomachs and head to I-10. We are making good time and stop for a break in Madison (this stretch of I-10 is the worst speed trap) at the Rest Area. We pile out and I take Lola for a walk. There are honey bees everywhere and I should have been more attentive. I notice Lola picking her back feet up funny and think she has stepped on a sticker. I pick her up and turn her over to get the sticker out of her foot and find a freakin bee. :rofl2: I am about to cry.

We trade out Mama and Chris so he can help me take care of Lola. She is really pitiful and I am texting my BFF Chaille? to see if she can find out what I can do to help her. She says stop and get children?s Benadryl, so we take another pit-stop to find a Walmart. Christopher said, ?Dang, you never got that upset about me getting stung by bees, even when I got stung by 3 red wasps!? We get her medicated and head down I-75 in the rain.

Between your food pictures of kitties pics and Doodle's fairy, I expect this site to be caught by work's filters anyway. Yup PureT and Doodle takes down the Fiends. Good thing I have a smart phone.

Check out the pork (poke) chop and gravy.

It is most awesome!

Bbbut, but it's not Bacon :rofl2:

This biscuit is better than even bacon and I love bacon! Crunchy fried steak, creamy gravy on a big, fat, fluffy Buttered Biscuit, It doesn't get much better or conversely worse if you're my doctor! :rofl2:

So on with the story!

Mama and Edward are about an hour ahead of us by now, but there was no use trying to catch up because I am super paranoid about hydro-planing so we are moving slow! We are on the Turnpike when Edward calls and tells me that he is there with Donnie and we are in site #1724. This is one of the sites we needed a pic of, but it was never empty while we were there! :rofl2:

After going the long way down by the Settlement, Chris and I arrive at the site. Donnie is there with Runner and I'm not sure which was the most talkative! Everything is set-up and ready for us to move in, that was definitely easy! Donnie takes off to go pick up the coffee pot and we start moving our stuff into the camper. I guess we forgot to invite the Army along to eat all the food we took with us! I had frozen our Margarita Bucket before we left, so it was one of the first things unpacked and put in the freezer?got to have priorities! :rofl2:

Lola is so excited to be at the campground! She can suddenly dance around excitedly and is eager to explore. Of course it is raining, but she doesn?t mind if Mommy gets wet! We take a couple of short walks during the lighter spells of rain.RunninDogSmiley.gif

Kenny brings the golf cart by and he is a sweetheart! It was still rainingsad029.gif so we waited a while hoping it would slack off so we could ride, but alas no end was in sight for the rain. Chris and I poncho up and head to Trails End to pick up a Giddy-Up-N-Go and the Honey BBQ wings for my Mama. That is a pile of food and we ate off of it for a couple of days! So what else is there to do after a long, rainy day on the road? SmileyMargarita1.gif, Smiley19-1.gif and sbed_sleepingonbook_100-100.gif?w=93&h=55!

We wake up and have Ham Biscuits (I baked a ham Sunday night to take with us and the Biscuits were saved from the Giddy-Up-N-Go) and piddle around a bit. Mama and Edward decide to head to AK, Mama?s favorite park. Chris and I give them a ride to the bus stop and do some riding around the Fort. We started a roast in the crock pot around 10.

I had an appointment with a doctor in Orlando, so we head across I-4 and find the doctor?s office. We?re a little early so we decide we?d look for a Walmart nearby. We saw some pretty parks, a historic area, City Hall and a ghetto; but no Walmart. Then we ran into some detours and barely made our way back to the doctor.

I made this appointment during my spring break because I figured it would be one of those ?yeah you?re gonna need some tests, we?ll schedule them in a month or two and you can come back.? Heck no, he sent me straight down for an echo, then to get a holter monitor and an appointment for the next day for a stress test. That is not how I wanted to spend my vacation! :rofl2:

By now, we are STARVING! We get back and it is already supper time. We go to get the roast out and WTGentlyCaressing, it ain?t done! We make an executive decision and we all load up and head to Trails End. We did some justice to that buffet!seating_dinner_100-102.gif?w=25&h=29

By now it?s time for baths, margarita?s, cards and bed. I know, not very exciting!sbed_sleep_100-106.gif?w=26&h=33 I hope Runner will jump in and tell y?all about their day at AK.

Good job Rita. How long did you have to wear the halter monitor. I had to wear one for 3 days, no fun. Plus I am allergic to adhesives and ended up with raw spots where electrodes were. Hope everything goes well for you. :rofl2:

We just did a 24-hour one this time, I had a 30 day event monitor about 5 years ago. What a PITA! Thanks, I appreciate your good thoughts! I have a genetic heart condition, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, that's a mouthful ain't it! Dr. Hazday in Orlando is a specialist in this condition. I'm gonna get on my :rofl2: for just a second. This condition is usually what causes young athletes to have sudden cardiac death. Please, if your child's doctor says they have "a heart murmur" find out what is causing it, it could save their life! Lobby for AED's to be placed at your child's school.

Ok off my soap box and back to regularly scheduled hilarity!
