Here in NC that doesn't qualify as banana pudding!  It must be layers of vanilla wafers, bananas, and vanilla pudding ... at least 3 of each and preferably topped off with whipped cream.  And it's better if you make it a day or two before you plan to eat it.

I make my own, and I also make it this way.  And it HAS to be cooked vanilla pudding...not that instant crap.  And I like to layer it in a glass bowl so you can behold its greatness.  I may have been born a Yankee, but the South is in my blood.
