  1. I know about the larger nozzle and it isn't an issue. The ram has the larger fill port and I have used it at a local certified station that had a large nozzle on the diesel at an auto pump.

How does one get a pilot/flying j rv card? Will the good Sam card do the same thing. I know it gives the same discount.

  2. Now that we have the 2500 with a diesel, was curious if using the truck lanes are open to rv's as well. I have read a lot of places online that truckers seem to get frustrated by the guys filling up rv's in the truck lanes.

If it is ok to use the truck lanes, is there anything different I need to know before going into one? Can you pay at the pump or do you pay inside first? Read that some you pump, then park, then pay inside.

Just want to know what I may be getting into before I go into one.

  3. I was just pricing sites out for February's 5k. They're still touting DisneyQuest:

Add tickets to upgrade to a Magic Your Way Package and enjoy Magical Extras such as 2 admissions to DisneyQuest® Indoor Interactive Theme Park and 2 rounds of miniature golf (before 4:00 PM)!

Odd, I was pricing tickets directly off of their site last week and the water park and more option no longer shows Disney quest in the list of things included.

  4. Also, don't let your one experience with the one ram sour your experience on the brand. In your case it is the seller screwing you.

On a side note, I have that same interior but it is all black in mine. Dealer tried to talk me out of the laramie and I told him that I wouldn't buy without the leather interior in the laramie. I think the sales guy was not happy he got no commission on my sale. My work discount brought the truck 1% under invoice plus my trade in. They are getting less than $1k after they sell both trucks. Most of that had to be put into the certifying of the old one so they didn't make squat.

  5. I'll give you my .02 on the 4x4 vs 4x2. Short and sweet....if the 4x2 doesn't have a limited slip differential, you will really wish you had that 4x4. The 4x4 in my 1500 bailed my rear out a few times when it kept slipping one rear wheel backing into spots on a slight uphill slope. My 1500 didn't have limited slip in the rear and the 4x4 was the only thing getting me up into the spot.

I use the 4x4 almost every time we are out. Mainly to get my camper back into my drive which also has that same minor slope with gravel.

If you go 4x2, make sure it is limited slip in the rear otherwise you may be unhappy with it quickly in some situations. Not to mention that limited slip will help rear tires wear evenly vs one wearing faster than the other.

  6. So... this 2013 Dodge Ram that Tom has been talking to this owner/dealer (not a "dealership" just a guy who flips them really) about, well they've been talking for 3 or 4 weeks now and the entire time the price was set; today he tells us it's going to be $6k more.  He says he had to do more work on it than expected, but my guess is he's received several calls expressing interest and decided to push the price up...

    Irritating and incredibly frustrating....

I would offer him the original price and if he won't take it move on. 6 grand is a big jump.

    Agreed

Same here. If he doesn't agree to the original price, move on. Remember, it has had a lot of work done to it to put it back together.

  7. Okay... so now I'm worried about the 2013 we're going to look at (even though it's not part of the recall).  Found a Ford F250 that I like... but even IF we could get the dealer to come down, it would still be $5k more than the Dodge.   Upsetting....

I own a 2012 Ram that is right in the midst of this. I'd buy another Ram without concern.

Same here. My 2013 1500 was fantastic. You would have to pry my cold dead body out of the 2015 2500 drivers seat to get me to part with it.

Look at it this way, every manufacturer has issues. Ram is just in the spotlight now because 2 issues popped up quickly in the media and the one recall has been around for a while.

Regardless of what you choose, you will always have things that need maintenance and repair. Just like your TT will over time. Nothing stays in perfect shape forever.

  8. And I'm probably in the minority, but I loved Ratatouille. :)

    I also love Ratatouille!

I actually like quite a few of the newer ones. But I agree with the survey after rewatching Lion King a lot lately with W it's a great movie.

    WBI

Forgot about Ratatouille. That was a good flick. Just remembered Meet The Robinsons as well. It was a good one.

I think my favorite 70s Disney has to be Robin Hood.

Hey at least they didn't say it was one of the early 2000s animated features like Brother Bear or The Emporers New Groove.

  9. Anything connected to the Internet has the potential to be hacked. It's just plain dumb to have things connected that really have no need to. It might seem wonderful to be able to control your furnace from your smart phone or lock all of the doors. That is until a mischievous kid turns off your heat one winter while you are away for the weekend or a burglar using Google Street View to case your house turns off the alarm system and unlocks the doors. The same goes with cars as these hacker have shown.

Yeah that u-connect one just blew up in their face last week with those white hat hackers disrupting their friends car while he was driving it.

Personally, I think they were jackasses for doing it while he was on an open road with traffic around.  They should have done it on a closed course.

It is important to remember that this "hack" was done under a grant from the government.  In addition, they worked with Chrysler while they reverse engineered the Cherokee.  Chrysler already had a software update ready before this was publicized and they also closed the network port inadvertently left open by Sprint.  The two guys who hacked the Cherokee verified that the hack will no longer work even if the cars are not updated, yet Chrysler more completely removed the vulnerability via the update (issued as a recall).  It is also important to note that the hacking of the friend's car was really a controlled test where the author for Wired magazine drove the Cherokee which was owned by one of the hackers.  What is lost in some of the hype is the fact that the most dangerous thing was turning off the vehicle on the highway (stupid).  The driver could have restarted the car by hitting the start button to shut down the system and then restarting the car.  In addition, the claims on the news that they could take over the car's steering failed to mention that control of the steering could only be accomplished if the vehicle was driving in reverse at less than 1MPH.  They hacked into the automatic parking feature and that is how they controlled the steering.

Many of the car magazines and web sites stressed that this hack was very specific to that ONE Cherokee due to the information needed, and would not be possible on a widespread basis even without any updates or network connections.

100% agree. I deal with this type of crap on an hourly basis. If you hook your network devices to the internet, you are asking for issues. Sure there are thousands of other ways to be compromised or hacked. The issue is we want the convenience as a society. The trade off is to get products to the market quicker, basic security measures in software coding are left out or overlooked. This is a very common occurance.

Long story short....if it is connected to the cloud, it is in jeopardy of being compromised. If it is stored in the cloud, you have no control over YOUR data. Yes that includes everyone with a blasted iphone/ipad and anyone running linux. Anything can be hacked and you are foolish to think it cant. You want to keep your data and privacy safe, get off of social networks and stop putting your photos, videos, document backups, etc on free storage services like dropbox.

It is freakishly scary what you can find out about people using the internet. It is even more concerning how much of their personal data anyone can get access to. I could go on and on but my non disclosure from work prevents me from talking in detail on what I see and what is out there. All I can say is that most things are better left off of the Internet.

OK.......I am getting off my soap box.

  10. Saw this earlier and sent it to Tom.... we're looking at a Dodge 2500 this week, but I cannot remember the year.

If it is a 2013 you are ok. It is only the trucks that have the Internet connect version of uconnect. In 2013, it was only available on a 1500. You can tell if it has this option by looking at the rear view mirror. It will have some buttons like emergency and help (kind of like onstar)

  11. There is another recall for 2013-2015's. Or I should say 2 recalls. One is for a stereo security vulnerability with uconnect. You can download a new version of the software to correct it from the uconnect site. The other is for an airbag issue with both front and side impact airbags.

Yeah that u-connect one just blew up in their face last week with those white hat hackers disrupting their friends car while he was driving it.

Personally, I think they were jackasses for doing it while he was on an open road with traffic around.  They should have done it on a closed course.

This isn't the first time they did it. The same guys tore apart a volt and a tesla.

  12. One of my favorite thanksgiving meals ever was at the fort with fiends! We cooked a turkey in the roaster oven, homemade dressing in another roaster. We also had collard greens, cornbread and peas & butter beans. Others brought sides too. While we are talking about this, let me say I hope to see some Fiends at Thanksgiving!

This fiend will be there pending we don't run into any issues.

I didn't think about the roaster. Never done a turkey in one but that could work out well. Ours is a little big but it would work.

Now you have me thinking outside the box.
