  1. I got the new 14k equalizer in and installed it. Took some doing to find someone who could torque the ball close to me but I found someone. The difference between the 10k and 14k was night and day. The 14k was not as loud and actually to slightly nose down which I couldn't get the 10k to do. Measurements put the front back to stock height and rear down 3/4 of an Ilinch of I remember correctly. I didn't get to drive to much with it but got it up to freeway speeds and couldn't tell it was back there. No semi pull like the 10k had. I am please with the setup vs how it was on the 1500 with the 10k. Really jobs in for that trip to the smokies here in a few weeks.

  2. Wait until you hit ohio. It was 91 today when I got to our property to mow it. 100% humitidy. After being out in it for 4 hours, the thunderstorms and lightening came through and made it worse. Been like this in Ohio for a few months. I would take the south heat over the rain/humitidy streak we are on.

Where was your t@b rally at again?

    Ohio, Sugarcreek/Mineral City

Ahhh up in Amish country. If you get the chance, head over to heines cheese cottage and check it out. Also, miller's bakery is awesome (but you have to get there early to get the best donuts). Hope you have a great time up there.

  3. But he did say "NO WINTERS".....

Agreed! Right now I wouldn't mind being North of the Mason Dixon line, with the temps running about 98 during the day and heat index of 110!! You get soaking wet just walking out to the mailbox!

  4. IAm going to start a beer posting. I'll put the dates that I have trips planned( 4 of them) and if anyone is there during the same time we can do a beer tasting/swap

It's simple, especially if you hav 6 people participating

You buy a 6 pack of a local beer, craft beer preferred, bring it. You drink one, every one gets 2oz sample and a bottle.

Go with 6 beers, come back with 5. And you drank 1 beer plus what ever else you want

You think everyone is going to leave the fort with beer? :D

I actually like the idea. Hope we are there at the same time you are.

  5. Since we will be at the fort for thanksgiving, I was wondering what people normally do for lunch/dinner that day. My sister made reservations for our families to have a traditional thanksgiving dinner at one of the restaurants on property (don't recall what one) but the meals are close to $60 per person regardless of age if I remember correctly. That would be $240 for the 4 of us (me, wife, 4 year old, and 2 year old). Seems a little steep for turkey and the traditional sides.

What have others done for thanksgiving day when staying at the fort?

  6. I saw some jack wagon towing a 27" with a dakota with a v6 yesterday. It was a late 90s dakota. I have no idea how it was still running. My dad had one, and I did as well but with the 5.9 v8, and I would never have attempted that.

My 2013 ram 1500 was great with my TT. My issue was payload capacity. I was over and you could tell. From the outside it looked fine with a slight squat in the back. The front was looser with the TT hooked up vs not hooked up.

A lot of the issue is that you can't get a diesel in a half ton with the exception of ram. That 3.0 diesel makes no sense though. You get better towing capacity with the hemi and it is cheaper.

Tom, I am a dodge/ram guy but I would take that king ranch over the ram. If there wasn't a lot of damage to the ram that would be one thing but I would be hesitant to that kind of damage. Without seeing it personally it is hard to tell the full extent of the damages but replacing an inside door panel due to external damage is a pretty significant accident.

  7. 127k I would buy. I looked up the towing capacity and it seems low. Payload is fine (3160-4050lbs) but max tow I can find with the diesel is 9700 to 10500 depending on a few things. Unless what I am finding is inaccurate (and it is possible since this is google), I think there are better options out there. Excluding the payload rating, most new half tons can pull that weight if optioned correctly.

  8. Here's a serious WTF? This one just came over the Instagram hotline so I assume it was taken today, Independence Day... free thinker!

Really, he couldn't leave the pipes at home. I think I would go postal if I was there. Bag pipes have to be one of the most annoying musical insturments.

  9. Also, I think that year you could get a 3.42, 3.73, and 4.10 rear end in the 2500. If you crawl up under it, there should be a label somewhere on the rear differential or axle that will tell you what it was equipped with if they dealer can't tell you. I would try and aim for a 3.73 if possible. The 3.42 increases your mpg but you also lose some low end torque. The 4.10 has the opposite effect. Will have your peak torque lower but you lose mpg. The 3.73 is the best of both worlds.

  10. Also, I am reading that equalizer and many other brand hitches are now adjusting their installation requirements which explains why some people are saying adjust so both drop the same level and others say return the front to at least 50% between hitched w/o wd bars or as close to stock as possible. Apparently it has something for to do with the newer SAE standards.

  11. I didnt have any additional load in the bed. This isn't much different than normal. Usually the only thing on the bed are 3 bikes and a few small pieces of 2x12 for leveling. At most we are looking at 100 puns and that weight is in front of and not behind of the axle. The trailer was pretty much loaded as it normally would be.
