  1. Waiting to hear back from Kelly, on which works best for her.  You'll cancel your site and then pay either her or me.

Do you know what time you plan to get there on Friday??

I will pack up on Friday morning and then take the quick drive over  (I live right across town in Acworth, GA).  Should be there around 2ish.

  2. Hey Mike!  Excited to meet with you!  Kelly's plans might be changing so we're going to switch to her spot (43) ... do you want to take ours (44)??    Question on your pup... my daughter has had a HUGE fear of dogs in the past, however (Praise God!), this has started to change :)    Is your dog child friendly?  Okay if he's not as I know you'll have him on a leash, but we'll make sure to keep her away from him.  She's gone from huge fear, to really wanting a dog (which means she's now trying to pet every dog that she comes across).  She's only 8 and we've told her that we would talk about one when she's 11.  Truth be told, I know that dogs are a lot of work and this mama really doesn't want to do it ;)

I would love to take your spot!  How do I go about doing it?

My dog is by far the friendliest dog I have ever known, or ever been around, or ever heard of! He is the kindest soul around, and I include babies and the Pope in that comparison. He is a big boy, but just loves children and they love him.  I have to admit that he is the prettiest Golden Retriever ever...except for the hair regrowing on his hind quarters because of the surgery.  If your daughter has a fear of dogs, he should be excellent therapy for her.  I will make sure when she meets him (if you want her to) that I keep him on a short leash so she doesn't worry.  I'll bet she'll be hugging him in short order, and he will be kissing her face.

  3. Gandalf got his green light - the ACL surgery was successful and he is ready for prime time!  So I will be at Bald Ridge rain or shine, although in site 15...so will be away from the group.  My fault, I didn't read the original email close enough and simply booked in the wrong place.  Really glad Gandalf healed ok, but he does look a little weird: he is a very heavily coated Golden Retriever with his right rear hind quarter still pretty much shaved off.

  4. Sorry I have been off the boards for awhile...but I'm back...(for better or worse). With a bit of luck my Golden Retriever Gandalf and I will be at the GG - he has his 6 week check up 2 days before we get together, and if he gets a clean bill of health: we will be there. If not, I may be too bummed to go!

He tore his ACL in his right hind leg. I had the new surgery done for him that eliminates the need for an ACL. Cost $4300, but should make him better than new. If the docs says he is ready for prime time, we will be there. He seems to be doing fine, but is on seriously restricted activity while he heals - pretty much stays in the sunroom unless he has to do his business - even then I have to walk him on a leash so he doesn't try to tear off after a squirrel.

So 90% we will be there.

  5. By the way, Jason (Katman1356) is a travel agent. Knows all things Fort related...and a really nice guy. He can hook you up with a seriously good golf cart rental company. Yes, this is a shameless plug, but I just met him at the Fort last month, and he promised to give me a .00012% commission on anyone I referred his way. Which gives me .0000032% off a Disney beer.

  6. I'm not sure if it's that management doesn't want to ruin anyone's vacation, or that they simply don't have any balls to confront someone.

OK, I am probably about to start a firestorm, but what the heck...

I was there for 14 days just before Thanksgiving. 200 loop, which has a comfort station shared with the 100 loop. Several times during my stay every site was occupied in both loops - can't get more crowded than that. If the comfort stations where not up to the "old standards", what the heck were the old standards? Operating room standards? I have never seen cleaner comfort stations in any campground in my entire camping life. EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Yes, the lights were on after 10 in many sites. Looked really cool at night. Did not affect me in my popup in any way when I went to sleep early a couple of nights. Don't really see the issue.

Yes, some folks had several cars parked at their sites. Didn't bleed over to adjacent sites, and they weren't any more an eyesore than my single very large late model pickup at my site.

Yes, some sites had a mess of folks. Horrible people: they were drinking (sometimes alcoholic!!!!), eating, laughing, etc. How dare they?

Now, the people who wouldnt move while RV's are trying to pass are just rude. But some of the rules at Disney are there to prevent excesses, not normal fun.

For example, I was given the riot act by a state park ranger at Red Top here in Georgia for having my dog off leash. A 60 year old man with a Golden Retriever who was sitting on the ground beside me with my hand on his head: at 7am on a Tuesday with no one else on the trail (we were waiting for his car to pass in order to cross the only road on the trail). He slammed on his brakes, got out of the car, and dressed me down like a teenager breaking curfew. Was it against the rules? Absolutely. Was that situation why the rule was written in the first place? Absolutely not.

  7. Nacole, I'm not the best cook either.  Pretty much limited to eggs and bacon (and whatever else you season and flop on skillet or grill).

But I am bringing some of my beloved donuts.  Look and taste just like Krispy Kreme Boston Cream Donuts.

The box I carry them in even has Krispy Kreme written on it...

  8. Try and do notes during the day. If i wait until night I forget and fall asleep and then it's all a big jumble.

Take lots of pics of food, we like food.

What's your dates ? I think we may overlap

I get there there the morning of the 9th. Already plan to drop by your site for "coffee and dessert" on Sunday evening. I trust it will be Irish coffee...

  9. Not sure if I should post this here or in the trip reports section...but I figured more folks read this forum, so:

As several folks know, I will be making my first trip to the Fort next month for 14 days. I always take a ton of pictures, always meet new people, and always have a great time at Disney. But...I have never done a trip report!

I will be making my first one this trip. What advice can the wise ones on this board give me?

  10. How to get spiked...

    1. Join FF.net ad jump right into the craziness.

    DONE

    2. Introduce yourself.

    DONE

    3. Plan trip to the Fort, and post arrival and departure dates.

    DONE

    4. Order FF.net sign. And get recipe for apple pie. (The sign is for TCD and the pie is for Lou.

Sign is ordered.  Pie is under negotiation due to limited baking skills.  I'm pretty much limited to frying meats (like BACON).

    5. When you arrive at the Fort. Post your site number here and place FF.net sign in a conspicuous place.

    Will do.

    6. Sit back and enjoy your favorite beverage. Before you know it one or two Fiends will show up with a welcome gift. (Spike).

    Will absolutely do...

Disclaimer: sign and pie are not neccassary but may increase your chances of being spiked. Also a promise of TR with lots of oictures may increase your chances of receiving said spike.

The author makes no claims or guarantees concerning you being spiked. Said spike may contain heavy metals that maybe illegal in California and the other 49 states. Were he will share the said complaint with the rest of us so we can have a good laugh and then the said complaint will be filed in the special round filing cabinet. Your chances of being spiked depends on how many contestants enter and whether TCD and/or Lou have gas money.

Please see the website for complete for the official rules and further disclaimers.

    Thank you and good luck.

    Well done!  :rofl3:
