  1. Congratulations to you and your son!

My daughters use those apps all the time- they will time leaving their apartments so they arrive at the bus stop at the same time as the bus.  Its a great feature.

It's pretty sad when you see the great public transportation other states and even other areas of Florida somehow can afford to provide to their citizens, yet we in the Tampa Bay area have virtually nothing.

Thanks TCD, He's (and Mom & myself) very excited to be a part of the Gator Nation. He has lots of friends already attending there, and several more arriving in the Fall.

Some of his friends who live off-campus depend heavily on the bus app just as you mentioned, and from what I've heard, the buses are nice and frosty inside.

This time of year while waiting for a WDW bus (which can also be quite frosty inside) you could end up drenched in perspiration or rainfall before finally boarding a frosty bus. A mobile app like this might be an incredible advantage for "bus-challenged" guests, especially in this age of fast passes & magic bands.

  2. The municipal bus systems in Tallahassee and Gainesville (and probably a lot of other cities in America) have apps which customers can download and which show them, in real time, where there bus is in relation to the bus stop.  Disney could co this if they wanted to, but they probably don't want guests in the low rent resorts to see all of the buses being diverted to the deluxe resorts.

These video monitors should have been in use a long time ago.  It's good they've at least taken this step.

Interesting, we had just learned of this mobile app feature when we were visiting the University of Florida last month during our son's Summer B preview.

What an awesome way of keeping track of the buses whereabouts when you might be running short of time between classes.

  3. "My two week globetrotting tour was over.

I smiled as I drove across Tampa Bay on the way home.

Man, I'm blessed to live where I do.

Now I can say that I've been to Dublin, London and Paris.

And, I know more than ever that there's no place like home.

And that's the end of the trip.

What an epic trip this was.

After weeks of reading about all of this travel to famous, historic destinations and seeing all of the sights, the people watching, and to top it all off, the return to Orlando & WDW.

I can just picture driving across Tampa bay with all of these fresh memories in your head, reflecting on that last leg of the journey.

And I totally agree with you on this, wherever home is, there's no place like home

    Well Done TCD

  4. I'm so sorry for coming into this so late, but dam!

This trip report is the one I've been destined to discover, I just sort of accidentally clicked on "click HERE to read it", and dam! All the wasted years.

I doo want to offer one thing, instead of using the despised word "amazing", I actually refer to the word they from the movie "The Bench Warmers", that word is "amazazing".

The Troll is saying all the things we're really thinking, but not uttering. We love disney deep down, maybe it's because we're from the 20th century, and have enough nostalgia still in our nostalgia tanks that it somehow overcomes the 21st century WDW issues. We all made fun of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea ride, but when our kids first rode it, it was AMAZAZING to them. And when they closed it, then demolished it, it was so awful & sad.

Props to The Troll for being the Troll. You are a funny mfr!

  5. "First, I have been racking my brain trying to remember this scene. Help!"

Ahh, the scene is when Robin Williams is attempting to hook up his sewer line for the very first time on the rented RV.

The 2 guys helping him show him how to connect the 2 sections of hose using a "Y" coupling.

As he holds the "Y" coupling up high, the sewage begins to crest right in front of his face; "TURN IT OFFFF!"

    Hahaha

  6. The Rod is a bit bigger than a tab and taller with a roof top air conditioner. I was actually impressed with the very first one I saw. It had bunks on one end, a dinette on the other, and the kitchen and bath in the middle. If I had seen them side by side when I bought my tab, I might have gotten the Rpod, but they came out a couple years later. The newer floor plans are odd to me.

    Carol,

Do you ever see yourselves upgrading size-wise from your T@B in the future?

  7. I do like the idea of a regular bed and decent size bathroom, and I know DW would as well.

Our TV is an 05 Nissan Armada, so it will handle about 9,000 lbs I believe.

I just don't really want to be hauling anything over 20 feet long.

In the future, I may replace the Armada with a Toyota Tacoma, so whatever the capacity they are, would be important. That's why I figured the R-pods would work.

But there's definitely a lot of quality rigs out there in the same neighborhood.

  8. Kieth, I just glanced at the Palomini, very nice except for like you mentioned, no slide and the tiny wet bath. I do like the width though.

The R-pods are limited in width, with the side walls between the wheels.

The newest R-pod floor plan, the RP-183G has a slide, a large bath AND the garage in the back, which I really like, just to create an outside kitchen/TV/liquid refreshment area without having to trapes in&out all the time.

But the larger bath means they've eliminated the separate bed. I really wouldn't want to have to make the bed every night just for 2 of us.

But until then, it's very livable inside & out.

  9. DW and I were really interested in the small Airstream TTs, but have since been looking at the R-pods.

I've been reading on the R-pod owners forum and browsing the floor plans & photos, etc..

I really like this compact, light weight trailer, especially the models with the garage.

Have Any Fiends ever owned an R-pod, or had experiences?

It seems that a lot of R-pod owners had recently graduated from popups.
