The reason why I like 1400 it because of the kids, it backs up to the area where they do the campfire and movies, as well as the trading post/ and the pool
all of those areas are under a 4 min walk from your camp site. They also have a playgrounds 1 north and 1 south, about the same distance away 5 min walk.
also should you choose to walk to the boat vs taking the bus/ golf cart its a 10 min walk and very scenic.
I don't remember the time frame for check in, but lets say 60 days out it will ask you on line for your preference, then you can select the loops or amenities that you wan to be near.
if you have not booked yet, book a site category that you want to stay in.

need a shake down trip, never owned/ used a pop
I did join "good sam" as the member discounts on my last shopping trip paid for it... the rug/ ground cover discount was $20 and the yearly membership was $25

I would wait until they tell you when they'll have the new unit; if you get it in the next 7 to 10 days....then I think they've held up their end of the bargain. Do you have a camping trip planned?
that's my thought, and the only trip I have planned is December 11-14 at the Fort
I would use it earlier if i had it

So I purchased a camper on June 13th,
They were detailing the unit, installing the AC and fixing a few of the PDI issues i came across. but due to some of the PDI issues, they were concerned on parts availability
Its a pop up camper, and there was a small cut in the tent material below the bed frame, 1 bed frame was damaged (possibly from the same incident) the area of damage is less than the width of my hand and could have been fixed with a hammer( aluminum bed frame was pulled down and away from wood), and because its a sectionalized tent, they could have unzipped the damaged one and put a new one on.
Fast forward to today, its June 30th, and I still don't have the Popup in my possession,
now I was told when i was leaving that it could be a few weeks, so I am not concerned, however today I wrote a "check up/ checking in email" and the response i got was "Scott, our towable manager, ordered you a new one. I'll check the ETA & let you know. "
So what i thought was a minor repair has become something much larger apparently.
while I am satisfied that I am getting a new one, should I ask/ demand a price reduction/ accessories of the sort? I make the first payment on the unit on 7/13 and don't know if ill have it by then.
They did say they would deliver the unit when ready to my home, and that's 2 hours away from the dealer.
My wife thinks they should do something, I on the other hand appreciate the honesty and them making it right by ordering a new one, but she feels they could do better and should
another question i have as i just found out they are getting a new unit, is what about the loan/ plate
the vin number will be different so how does that get corrected

Welcome, I too am new to pop ups, but have camped many night at the fort in a MH and a TT, hope you have a/c it's hot/ humid in Florida most of the year
I like 1400 the best!

We use pool noodle under the bed sheets, the bigger 5-6 inch diameter ones work best. 2 boys ages 1 and 3 in the queen size pop up, we use 3 of them 1 on each side, 1 up the middle

I'd look into a Yeti Rambler, $30-40 depending on the size (20 or 30 oz)
or the Cheaper but still effective Thermos branded ones.
personally i have a rambler and it holds ice/ water all day long Load it up with ice in the AM, and just add water all day long, never replace the ice and there is still some in the cup when i go to bed 15 hours later

Yep! :)

I don't miss Boston traffic, Lived in Nashua NH for 8 years and worked just outside of Boston.... my commute has been reduced from 45 miles one way to 70 feet as my boss lets me work from home....now in Florida....

Fleetwood had this as an option on their pop ups for a while, but it utilized a thin line portable tank. I think a standard height tank under a standard pop up would probably bottom out and damage the tank.
Found the pic its from pop up Portal
The thing is if you can get a tank to fit between the frame rails, and locate near the axle it really wont hang that low, The Idea is to have the bottom of the bracket above the center line of the axle thus giving you 6-7 inches of clearance from the road surface.
by comparison the air dam on my Honda Odyssey is only 4 inches off the road, and this tank would be 2 inches higher than that and located near the axle where the tipping ends of the traler would not impede or impact it.
and another
and 1 more

I have seen some one modify some diamond plate with a hinge and clasp on the underside of a pop up, I think they used an 18-22 tank on wheels, and when its empty and ready for travel to or from the park, they put it in the cradle under the camper. Some of the tanks are 8-10 inches tall, and you have almost that amount of room between the frame and axle on a pop up.
if you dump it before you leave for home, its empty weight is like 25-30 lbs and should have minimal effect on the trailer.
Ill look for a pic

All this tire talk makes me nervous....
2007 Nissan Xterra cgvw is 9658
Tires are P265/70r16 111S Toyo open country at II
Trailer is a 2016 rockwood 2516g that is 3300lbs full.
Am I good?

Okay... I can't help, but just wanted to jump in and say only 2.5 hours away... man, I would LOVE that drive :) Of course, we have it easier than several Fiends so, I guess I shouldn't complain with our tiny 9 hour drive
Have fun on your trip!!
so drive all the way down here, check out Sanibel and then you too can have a 2.5 hour drive to the fort

Like everyone else said, the devil is in the details.
Some are great and bulletproof, others are a complete headache.
My Father was a diesel mechanic for 33 years, and I can tell you I have seen some crazy things.
On a slightly different topic, I saw someone mention an Eco-boost ford, word to the wise DO NOT USE ANY INJECTORs/FUEL SYSTEM CLEANERS!
The issue is the Turbo's are so close to the Exhaust ports there is no time for the "gunk" to burn up prior to entering the Turbo and it actually has melted a few turbos

I am 2.5 hours south of the Fort, but I am looking into other campgrounds along the way, ya know if you go camping for a week, split it up, 2 days here 3 days at the fort and then 2 days somewhere else or split it 3 days and then 4 days at the fort
I came across turtle beach in Sarasota- https://www.scgov.net/TurtleBeachCampground/Pages/default.aspx
Anyone ever stayed there?
I have stayed at Sun and Fun - http://www.carefreervresorts.com/rv-parks/florida/sun-n-fun/?gclid=CPXIvqDio8YCFRc8gQodm4IBRg
its ok, not near a lot but the resort it good
Happy Monday

I have a bunch of MagLites, 3-4 of the LED ones, I forgot to mention I have 2 thermacell mosquito things.
I have a 35 qt engel cooler (costs more than the Coleman, less than the yeti), thing holds ice for days and days in the Florida heat
I am planning on getting the BAL for sure, I have checked craigslist and have not found any yet
I have tried to register on popup portal but never get an activation email, so forget it, Ill just post things here as you all have been very helpful.

Welcome :welcome2:
The most common mistakes I see with new popup owners are: putting the stabilizer jacks down before raising the roof, trying to use the stabilizer as a means to level the camper, Putting the camper away with damp tenting. Even if you have to pack up in the rain you should always set back up at home and let the tenting totally dry be for putting the camper away. It's better to leave the camper set up for days in the rain to wait for the rain to stop and allow the tenting to dry.
For all campers
Having the awning set up level where it can pool water to the point of the awning frame collapsing. You should always have one end lower so the water will be sure to drain off.
the setup for Rockwood says the opposite, they want you to put the stabilizers down after the unit is leveled and prior to raising the roof.
Whats the reason for not putting them down?

Thank you all for the warm welcome and the advice!
So far I have the following:
wheel chocks qty 2
25ft drinking hose
15 amp to 30 amp adapter
stainless steel water pressure regulator
brass 90' elbow for water inlet
grey water 90' drain connection
grey water sewer port/cap
scissor jack drill adapter
carpet for the step
I know i still need a grey water hose ( 25+ foot should work)
I was looking at surge protection, Thoughts on that? I have seen a $40 Camco and a $70 one from another brand on amazon.
I am interested in the BAL Leveler saw it for $77 so its not so bad.
I was also looking a a folding table, I saw one that was an aluminum roll top and folded like the camping chairs for $40 at target
we already had camping chairs for the family, and a Coleman stove, lantern ( gas and 2 battery operated)
As for comfort stuff, bedding and such I have not tried out the bed, but I would imagine that its going to be significantly worse that my Prana Sleep bed, so ill be hunting for a mattress topper, I do plan on getting a set of the Malouf Z pillows as they are what we already use in our home and love them and then bamboo sheets, if you haven't tried those pillows or sheets they are great! well worth the added costs

I'll be there the 11-14th, iAm kinda nervous with the light displays, do people turn them Off at 10 pm, or let them Go all night long?
I'll be in a pop up, and can only imagine the blinking lights keeping me or the kids up.... IAm all for festivness but I want a good night sleep.
We're currently booked in a full site, and I want to see the displays, but not necssilary be next to one, and advice on loops to request or avoid

I invested in a viair 70p, it's a 12v pump good for upto 18 inch tires, my tv has 16 inch rims and my new trailer has 13 inch rims. I also use it to inflate beach toys and air up my air helper springs. I have had it for 5+ years never an issue and a bargain at $40
