  1. You link photos on FaceBook to here?

yea I use FB  every few hours, its easy to take a pic and put it in a hidden album on FB.

then i can link pic's from that album to here as needed.

no one on FB can see the photos, as far as i know, as they are only view able by me due to the privacy settings on that album, However if you get to the pic, you can copy the URL and paste it here and you all can see

Its a win win for me, I dont need another photo service

  2. Unfortunately the only picture I can see is the USB/ DC Voltmeter and it looks interesting  What is the make and model of the USB/ DC Volt meter?  I need to ad a DC meter and extra USB ports are always useful.

that's odd, anyone else having that issue? I use FB as my photo storage so if your on a work computer that may block FB then you wont see the photos

    the part was from amazon

  3. so I have owned my trailer 2 months now, its been at the dealer for 90% of the time, making repairs and waiting on parts and such

    I got it back today!

i planned on installing the lift kit, my LED porch light, the new fan controls, and a voltmeter/ usb charging station

well I got the trailer all jacked up, took the tires off, dropped the axle and found out Forest River sent me the Alco spacer kit, not the dexter kit.

The Alco is about 2 inches short, and the holes for the mounting are 1 inch too narrow..... called FR and vented, new kit is on the way hopefully it will be here next week

so put the axle back on, put the wheels on and on to the inside stuff!

first I have a new Fantasitc fan control, the stock one was 3 speed, that's it.... the new one is 3 speed, forward/ reverse switch, t-stat switch, and then I added an extra switch by the crank...

Edit- I should add that i had to modify the new switch cover as it had square corners and my original one has indentations at each corner, i got the dremel out and made the new cover match the original one. would have been 15-20 min faster if it fit like the original, but hey everything fits and it looks stock and that was my intention

Then is was time to cover up the wire....

    11873487_10101174442015915_4433378096037

and then install the out door unit, its small, only 10 inches, but its got 24 LED's and puts out 350+ lumens

    11903724_10101174442080785_8598375137552

and now to test the switch

    11903803_10101174442035875_1977100117827

with it this low on the roof, the Bag awning clears it when its rolled up, so it can be used with the awing open or closed.

then on the inside, next to the stereo i installed one of these

    61nkh9Jt4vL._SL1500_.jpg

I put it on a switch, and wired it into the radio power wire as its always hot for the radio to store station memory.

we replaced the fuse for the radio and went up by 5 amps as that's the max draw of the usb ports.

now with the roof down I can see the battery voltage, make sure that my TV is charging the house battery and know that i am good to go!

more mods to come as money/weather allows

no rain today but it was 96 with a heat index of 113, glad i was working on the 12 v as I could pull fuses and work in ac around 78 vs the out door heat

  4. See, you don't fit the stereotype.

A lot of people are getting into camping, because it's the latest "in thing" to do.

I saw where a lot of millenials are purchasing Airstreams because some celebrities have purchased them and they are all the rage with the Hollywood set.

And if you like burnt coffee, more power to you...

I dont love starbucks coffee... however their Frap or what ever it is... are good

they have a smores one.... mm mmm good

rather than to to starbucks daily, I make my coffee at home using the following method.

First I spell my name wrong, then I fill the coffee grinder with beans and turn it on while trying to have a conversation with my wife about the plans for the day, then i brew the coffee, light a $5 bill on fire, scream out my name and then drink

  5. A half acre lot is about 21,780 and half of that could be your lovely house. No way. Not even if I was rich.

so the total living area is just north of 15,000 sq ft, if they are putting it on a .5 acre lot as suggested that leaves 6700 sq feet of turf and driveway...

where i live in South Florida I have a quarter acre lot with home occupying 4000 sq ft of the 11,000 sq ft lot, putting the difference in the same ball park as these mega homes.

Personally I wish i had more land, I have what they call a double lot, and a triple lot would be ideal( the rear neighbor has it)

my lot is 90x110, I have 10 ft from my house to the property lines on the sides, its set back 45 feet from the street, and the rear setback is 30 feet

a triple lot would be 135x110 and would have the front and rear setbacks the same at 45 and 35, but my house on that lot would net me 22.5 feet in addition to the 10 for a total of 32.5 ft between my house and the property line

I can park my pup on either side of the house, however it fits in the garage with the wifes van so thats where it goes.

here is a shot of the property and you can see my rear neighbor who has the lot size i will get when i build my next house.

I have the white van and blue SUV in the driveway,

and the house that was under construction is now finished, across the street and 3 doors south/down from me

I paid 209 for my place 2 years ago, so i think I am sitting on some equity

  6. Glad you found a mattress that works for you.  I had the same concern with a Casper, before we got ours however... I did a good bit of research and all the reviews I found, said the customer service on their return policy was amazing.  No problems, easy return.  I believe this to be so as, before they sent us the additional mattress topper, we almost had them pick-up up (return) our mattress and they were prepared to do this... no troubles.  They have been GREAT to work with.  As a matter of fact, the free mattress topper?  It took them about a week longer then they had anticipated and they gave us a credit on our credit card for the wait!  Wonderful customer service.

Thats great to hear they had that good of a C/S team

Prana is a private label of City Mattress, they are made in Bonita Springs FL, they use all foam/ latex foam and are very heavy, pricetag included. I got a factory second for about 1700, still has a full warranty and all just was not 100% perfect  as for whats not perfect I haven't found the issue, and we have had it for 8 + months now

good to know that Casper should not be overlooked next time!

  7. Our last trip this past March we stayed at the Caribbean Beach and one morning we were picked up by a non Disney bus to one of the parks.  Didn't think much of it at the time.  There were a lot of sports teams staying at the resort at the time, so I thought that Disney was just bringing in extra buses to help with all the additional people.

the system is mostly automated from what i know, that little box by the driver that you see him touch on occasion is a 2 way communication device, that also controls the outward display messages.

I was sitting next to the driver and asked him about it and was told basically if they see a bus is running off schedule and another one is nearby, it will be dispatched to pick up the increased load automatically.

I then questioned what about the people on the bus being rerouted and he advised it typically will let them finish the route they are on, say dropping off at the fort, but the outward message will read out of service and he will not let people board so he can then go fill the need before being re rerouted back to his normal route.

If i recall it was something like a 5 min window is what they are shooting for, if they are more than 5 min late it starts re routing, unless he presses the traffic delay button, then it will keep him on that route and avoid dispatching others to get there.

    its all a well choreographed

    dance

  8. well, the good news is camping world is keeping me informed, I did mention some other concerns I had about water in the storage trunk, they found a hole int he top cap/ lid area as well as the seals on the side doors were not installed properly allowing water to get in from the top and both sides into the storage area.

Forrest River says 1 inch tire clearance is ok, and by design, however when I pointed them to dexter axle install paperwork that says " allow for 3 inches of bump clearance" as well as a recall letter from 2013 for a similar issue, they are starting to sing a different tune....

now if only Lazydays would submit my warranty paperwork so all this can get fixed....

  9. so some of you may know the issues i have had buying my pop up, to recap, I purchased it on 6/13, found damage on the PDI the dealer did right and ordered a new unit that i picked up on 7/11.

we camped in it one night and took it home.

I cleaned out the garage and got the camper in, I then was looking at the tires as it has 185/85R13D and want to go bigger

I get out the tape measure and find I have 4.5 inches of clearance between the passenger side wheel top and the wheel well, the drivers side is only at 1.5, in the pic below the tape measure is touching the wheel well at the center.

    11694837_10101144694769635_5332425935802

here is another pic, showing its under 2 inches of clearance

    11755750_10101144695223725_7940290703043

so I emailed forrest river and got this as a reply

"Is this clearance issue occurring when parked and opened up or?? I would recommend finding a local dealership to get this assessed.

     Jake Carter

    Rockwood/Flagstaff"

I then sent them the pic's and said it was closed, unloaded and on level ground

    their reply

"Sir I would recommend using our dealer locator tool to find a dealer near you http://www.forestriverinc.com/DealerLocator.aspx any forest river dealership is authorized to repair the unit, it does not need to be a rockwood dealer.

    Thank you"

being that my dealer where i purchased it is over 2 hours away, I had to go to the only local dealer.... camping world

so far I like the service camping world has given me, I called up explained what was going on and took the unit there, the service advisor met me, took one look at it, and got her boss and the lead tech from the shop out there, they all agree something is wrong.  but the unit is sitting level, so it appears the axle is under sized or needs a spacer to get it away from the wheel well.

I know its a dexter torflex #10 axle that has a capacity of 3000 lbs, and i know that dexter makes a spacer that can be installed that will live the unit by almost 3 inches thus correcting the problem, however id like to see a better rated axle say 3500 or 4000 lb, and the spacer.

now we wait and see what will be done.... good thing i dont have any trips planned until december

I did however score a sweet table for free at the CW store, I had a coupon for $25 off and they had this table in the clearance section for $25

They discounted the sale so i didn't pay tax just the coupon
