  1. I grew up with Harry Potter so I have a special attachment. We should anxiously wait for each new book and stay awake until finishing! Butterbeer is a mixture of butter, butterscotch, and cream soda. The frozen kind has an Icee texture where the regular is cold liquid.
  2. Day 4- Saturday, February 19 This was a long day! We woke up at 7 and were at the Studios at 8:30. Like everyone else, we headed back to Toy Story for fastpasses. They were already up to 1-2pm. We walked back to the front for RnRC singles line and Tower of Terror. Afterwards we watched a street show and Muppets before our 11am ADR at 50s Prime Time Café. This was a nice experience. We enjoyed watching the old TV clips and it was nice to have home-style cooking instead of fake burgers. Our waitress wasn’t over the top like some we spotted but I didn’t mind. We split up after lunch. My pare
  3. Day 3- Friday, February 18- We woke up at 7:30am and got ready to head to Islands of Adventure! We had received a one-day ticket from using our mycokerewards points (2000 points). By the time we had enough points to purchase another, they didn’t offer them anymore We arrived at 9:30 and had to wait in line at the ticket kiosk. The lines were snaked all over the entrance and we were impatient to get inside. While we were in line, we ended up purchasing a ticket online on the phone and then left the line for the will call computer station to print the ticket. Score for technology! It was now 10
  4. Thanks Dave! It was nice having the comparison between the February visit and March visit. So much work goes into this for such a short amount of time. Similar to Christmas decorations--I read Disneyland starts planning in February! This was my first visit to the festival, it was great! I'll have more pictures when I get to March report. Lady and the Tramp were in Italy.
  5. We broke some 'rules' during our last trip. We went to the cabin pool before dusk and waited it out. Wouldn't you know it, no one ever came to shoo us out. We stayed till ~9:15 and there were probably 10 other people when we left. The pool area and pool itself was well-lit. The fancy tile work shines in the moonlight! You'll have to wait for February, March, and June to finish before I start on the July rebellion :popo:
  6. Mmm that's a good idea! I'd like to join the 3am club! Me too! This was my first time seeing the Christmas decorations. If if weren't for the crowds and raised prices, I'd make sure we go every year. We had a great visit though it was too short! School has started back so I've fallen behind I agree with you about the winter months at the Fort. It's a different experience but still lovely. Thanks Kim! The lights were wonderful! I'd love to see then again soon. I believe they begin sometime in November and run through the New Year. Oh.the.dancing...If we didn't want to see the fireworks s
  7. Here we are in February! We took this trip during winter break; February 16 through February 20. My parents came along again and we took the easy route and stayed in their RV on a full hook-up loop. Day 1- Wednesday, February 16: Everyone went to work and we left early evening. There was no real need to rush because my parents would be behind us about an hour. We checked in around 11pm and were assigned to site 1630. We took a little cat nap in the car while waiting for the RV to arrive and then turned in for the night around 1am. Day 2- Thursday, February 17: No huge rush this morning. We
  8. Day 5- Saturday, January 1: I’m out of pictures.. We slept in again till 11 and again decided to avoid a park. We went for lunch at Panera Bread on Vineland Rd and then to the outlet mall. No purchases, just crowds. Left after a few hours and headed to DTD. The traffic between Vineland Rd and the entrance to WDW property was awful. It took us at least an hour to span the short distance. When we finally made it to WDW, we had to park in the furthest lot past Cirque and trek to the Marketplace. We had dinner at Rainforest Café, more hot chocolate, and some shopping at World of Disney before
  9. Day 4- Friday, December 31: After our MK adventure till 4am, we slept in till 11! After experiencing the crowds last night, we didn’t want to endure a park today. We hoped on I-4 and drove to the Mall at Millenia. The exit for the mall was crowded but the actual mall wasn’t too intense. We did some window shopping for a few hours and had lunch at the food court. We came back to the Fort about 5ish and got ready for a 6:30 ADR at Ohana! We drove over to the Poly and encounter some actual guarding happening at the booth. We had to give our name, show license, and have them check us on the ADR li
  10. Love the update! The star sparkler picture is great!
  11. I changed the privacy settings. Did that fix them?
  12. Our plan was to cook dinner and then head back to MK for the pre-NYE fireworks and 3am EMH. During our July trip, we saw the fireworks inside MK on the 3rd and from the Poly on the 4th. We wanted to duplicate that plan for NYE. I like how they offer the same show for both nights so you can have a different perspective. Inside the park, you are surrounded by the fireworks. It’s almost overwhelming because you can’t see everything at once. From the Poly, you can have an overall view and especially see the fireworks surrounding the lagoon. Around 9pm, we headed back to MK.
  13. Day 3- Thursday, December 30: I left the husband in bed this morning and I went off to MK. We had been in WDW for two days and I hadn’t gone to my favorite park yet! I spent about 3 hours in MK. It was my first time being alone in any park and it was wonderful! I did some shopping and just walked around. The weather had started to warm up; I had to take off my jacket and push up my sleeves. After leaving MK, I stopped by the Contemporary and Grand Floridian to see their Christmas decorations. You can see the balloons in the top of picture. I
  14. Yeah, Mr. MacGyver takes good care of us! I didn't have any photos of your site but I remembered it after you described things. You couldn't miss all the inflatables on the way to the comfort station! I really enjoyed being at the Fort for New Years. The cost was hard but cheaper than any other property option. We had originally booked with an additional day but ended up canceling to save the $100. If you want to go, I'd recommend booking now and canceling should you change your mind. We decided in June '10 and booked then. The weather wasn't awful. We had 2 space heaters, one on a table in

  16. Day 2- Wednesday, December 29: We had a rough night weather wise. We had never camped during the winter and wasn’t sure what to expect. We had purchased layering gear at Academy and wore that under our clothes. We still needed an additional jacket, hat, and gloves along with heaters and blankets. Thankfully it warmed up as the week progressed but we had maybe 2-3 rough nights. I don't think it rained during this trip but we had this bunker-like set up to try to combat the freezing wind. It's the largest tarp I've ever seen and weighs too much for me to easily carry.
  17. I'm enjoying your report! My family and I used to take a week-long summer vacation and camp at Elkmont. I have many happy memories from the Smokies, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge. Have y'all ever visited Cades Cove?
  18. We had to request a window view when checking in. It can make the wait longer but worth it. The weather was wonderful! We didn't take our a/c for this trip. Nice enough for shorts during the day and maybe a light jacket at night. That's all I have for this report. I've just posted day 1 for December. Thanks for reading!
  19. This is the trip report for our New Years visit. It is the longest trip we have stayed at the Fort and the most expensive. Our partial hook-up site was $89+tax a night. Not very pleasant but we wanted to be there for the experience. Day 1- Tuesday, December 28: This was our first trip leaving from our new home. We lived in a second story apartment for the first 1 ½ years of our marriage. All of our camping things had to be stored in the outside closet off the balcony. It was difficult carrying everything inside, down the stairs, and to the car. Now we only had to get things down from the
  20. Day 5- Tuesday, October 12: The last day of fall break and our day to leave We woke up at 8:30 and started packing up. After the majority of things were finished, my mom and I took a bike ride to show her the Meadows area. We saw this leaving the 1600 loop. We left the Fort at noon and headed to AK. We rode Everest singles line, took the train to Planet watch, and rode the Safari. We headed back at home at 3pm and would return in December! This little guy decided to hold us up for a bit Cute baby elephant
  21. It's great your family was able to stay so long on your first visit! Everything can be overwhelming and it's nice to have rest days. Thanks for writing a report for us!
  22. I'm looking forward to this report! Your kids are adorable and you seem like such a fun mom! Have fun at the beach!
  23. Day 4- Monday, October 11: After a late night at MK, we slept in till after 9. Took things slow, had breakfast, and headed off to Typhoon Lagoon! We prefer it to Blizzard Beach for theming and overall atmosphere. We rode two slides, looped the river, and spent lots of time surfing the waves. We had taken lunch in a cooler and sat near Crush ‘n’ Gusher. We were there for about 3 hours and then headed to DTD for our Christmas ornament while we were so close. After that, we went back to HS for RnRC take 2. We were able to ride 3 times from the singles line and headed back to Fort to clean up fo
  24. I'm happy to have readers! I forgot I liked writing trip reports and reliving things. I have another week off before school starts back. I hope to finish all 6 before then. Yep, that was us! We went for 6 days for July 4th '10 with my sister-in-law and her fiancee. We haven't used the a/c since September. I'm hoping it works for us this weekend! I'm enjoying your WL report. I hope to stay there one day. Secret...that shot overlooking Bay Lake is from March. Shh. Crocs aren't my first (or last) choice in footwear but I can't fault him while at WDW. He doesn't stand out in that crowd! I h
  25. Day 2- Saturday, October 9: Needless to say, we did not roll out of bed that morning to hit some extra magic hours. We took things slow and headed off to Publix for our fresh groceries. We grilled burgers for lunch and headed over to HS for a Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster singles line marathon. It was closed for a technological malfunction with no anticipated opening time. That was disappointing to travel over there just for that and be out of luck! We went back to the Fort for some bike riding. We got Mickey bars at Meadows Trading Post and then took the exercise trail over to Wilderness Lodge. I
