  1. My daughter came up with new lyrics for IASW yesterday. I have to share it with you.

It's a small world in boat. It's a small world in boat. It's a small world in boat. It's a small world in boat. It's a small world in boat. It's a small world in boat. It's a small world in boat. It's a small world in boat. It's a small world in boat. It's a small world in boat. It's a small world in boat. It's a small world in boat. It's a small world in boat.

What a delightful second verse. Now to get that out of my brain..while there's still some left :rofl2:

  2. Oh Monique, what a terrible experience. Was reading along thinking this just happened and came to the August 1 post. THEN I noticed 2011. So glad you and your loved ones were OK. I'm a firm believer in seat belts. Wonderful invention! I've been hooking our dogs, 11# poms, in their harnesses with the back seat belts. But you are right, it gives them too much move around room and in an accident they could be hurt. So will be shopping for a crate and will use seat belt to secure that. Problem will be, mil and her 12# poodle who live with us. She just lets her dog have the run of the vehicle. Will try to get her to read this thread. Hope all 3 dogs will share same crate. We have an Avalanche, so limited space to use a crate when 3 humans in truck.

God is Good that's for sure, I'm so glad you use seat belts.

PJ, what a horrible way to start retirement, very sorry for the loss of your Abby, so sad. Good that hubby and Koda survived.

Monique has some good ideas for helping Koda recover from the terror of the accident. The short trips are good, you might even start by just sitting in the Jeep, petting him for a minute or two every day until he can relax, then try turning the engine on and sit some more. Then a short move down the drive. I'm sure you get the idea. Will be thinking of you and praying all goes well.

    OH and welcome !!

  3. Rita, Bojangles fast food also has country ham bisquits, and they are GOOD! Only trouble..not many of them in Florida. I've been buying from one on RT. 436 in Altamonte. There is another one being built in/near Winter Garden on RT. 535. That would be the easiest one to get to from the fort. Maybe it's finished, haven't been by that way for weeks.

LOVE the "You are not the boss of me " shirt. My mil is now living with us. I asked her if she would like to go camping, she has never been camping, did not get a 'no'...so we will try soon...might wait for some cooler days. I'm going to try to find that shirt for Annie, she is almost 90. August 27 will be the day.

I've been away for weeks and am trying to catch up...having great fun reading the TRs. Of course it's making me drool wanting to be out camping.

  4. Thanks Cindy for the info.

I use my mother's dutch oven( from the 1930's) for lots of in-house cooking. It's like 2 frying pans, a deep one and a shallow one that is also used as the lid. The bottoms are flat so it's not made for camp cooking. But I bet I could figure out a way to use it for pies. Tho, might not want to get all that charcoal on something used in the house, but sure sounds tasty. Do the pies have a baked on charcoal flavor? I do know the type of dutch oven you use.

Thanks for the easy to do receipe too.

  5. Nice TR sure showed a lot of family time and fun together.

Now about those pies... "eating a freshly baked pie ( Sat was Mixed berry pie, Tuesday was Apple/cranberry pie, Thursday was Pumpkin and Sat was Mixed berry again by request). YUMMY!!! We carry a cast iron dutch oven w/ us and I love to bake. ;D"

Was hoping someone would ask for receipes and how you bake them in the dutch oven? So there..it's asked. Do you mind sharing...please :)

  6. Started reading this TR last night and took a few more hours tonight to get to this point. Really enjoying it. I grew up in Arlington and once, a cousin and I walked up the stairs of the Washington Monument. Set in the outside walls of the stairwell are stones and placques from a lot of the states ( do not have a clue as to how many states) My memory is that some of them are on the tacky side...but we still had fun.

Was a long hike up those stairs, most people rode the elevator. We were beat at the top and when the time came to head down, we took the elevator also. It's a neat memory and took place about 60 years ago. Hard to believe the memory is so fresh, thanks Nicki for the reminder.

  7. Just a little up date. A lot of rehabbing is going on at JP. A bunch of new sites have been added, the roads have new layer of coquina shell nicely packed, and 8 cabins have been added to the park. Looked like new slides at the playground.

DH and a couple of his friends camped at JP for a weekend convention of wargaming (with minitures) in Cocoa Beach. Lots smaller cost than staying in a hotel. After the guys left, I joined DH on Sunday afternoon. Park was about empty. But so much has been done. Rest rooms fixed up, new shuffle board courts, gazebos, electric hookups. All the new sites are full hook up, from what I could see. And it looks like some of the old sites have sewer hook up too. Three of the cabins had been set up and they expected the last 5 Monday. Did not get inside, so don't know how many they would sleep. but look cute, shorter than the fort's cabins. Have a full front porch. They are buitl somewhere else and trucked in, like a mobile home.

OH yes, of importance to us--wifi has been added! Didn't have the camera so sorry, no pictures. Next time;)
