Great trip report Steph, thanks for taking us along on your amazing Christmas gift trip.
Country and bluegrass bands I have met always seem so down to earth---just plain ol' good people.
-
VERY TRUE- THANK GOODNESS :)

Never MD, nothing for you to be embarrassed about. i think it's a cute little cabin. Anyone know why WDW didn't go with that design?
-
Great bunch of photos you posted today, Carol :)

What a wonderful way to begin married life ! Thanks for taking us along with you. So much good happened to you, I hope your whole life is filled with such great surprises. Thanks for the photo of the castle in MK. To me, the castle has never been prettier. Loved the lights that made it look like it was iced over.
Holy crap fits the bill.

Glad I decided to read some TRs, this is great.
Very good story telling.
The kiddos are so cute, loved the smiles.

So sorry for the loss of your wife and the kids' Mom.
Life isn't always easy and you've sure hit a rough spot, but the way you and the kids are going on,
planning new adventures and making more memories will help you all a lot.
God's Blessings on all of you.

Althought Halloween has past, this is a good ghost story from another forum I'm a member of,
http://mushing.bssd....forum/index.php this is a forum for people interested in sled dogs and sled dog racing or even just doing something with your pet dog(s).
I posted over there about my latest interest, which is fiendsfiendsfiends! Hope this is OK to post here.
Here is the ghost story or a story about hauntings at Old Woman cabin on the Iditarod Trail.

That's the same article, Dave. It was in Sunday's paper Oct. 30.
-
In today's Orlando Sentinel, on the back page (I-16) of the comics, is an article about Walt's early ties to Florida.
Just putting this in here in case any of the Fiends at the Fort want to snag a copy.

Says in the Bible to 'make a joyful noise unto the Lord'. Doesn't say you have to be in tune.

There are signs warning about the ticks and chiggers. We were lucky, didn't find any, but also did not take the dogs walking in the woods.
Did see a lot of what I've been told are stink bugs. Even found them in camper while cleaning it here in Florida. Those I killed, the ones found in MD were sent out the door.

We were surprised to find a campground INSIDE the Washington beltway. Near 95 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Greenbelt is a beautiful park. Lots of trails, picnic areas and camping. There is a central dump station and water available around the camping areas. But no water or electric hookups. This time of year very few visitors staying in the campground. It's close to Metro stations, easy to go sight-seeing in D.C. We saw deer wandering around the camping area.
The shower/bath rooms are clean with good hot water.
This land was to be the second phase of a planned community, the first was built in the Roosevelt days as a walk to everything town. This second section was never developed. The National Park Service aquired the park's land in the 1950s. I grew up in Arlington, VA and had never heard of it. My friend living in the next county over in MD hadn't either.

We stayed here on way home. nice and quiet, well ok except for I-95 traffic. But even sleeping in a hybrid it wasn't annoying to us.
When we pulled in we realised we had stayed there years ago, maybe 20+or-, and the putput golf course is now the doggie park.
I didn't take the leashes off the pups but did let them wander around awhile. My little buddy, Lucky, headed for the fence line to see about an escape hole. Bath/shower rooms very clean. We liked it.

At the first house where I groomed a dog today the owner and I spent several minutes talking about the Fort. They like to camp there.
He had never heard of fortfiends.net but he has now
Last time I groomed their dog it was his wife I saw and she talked about how much fun the Fort is at Halloween. Their twin sons Love it.
Didn't know about ff at that time but now I do and so do they.

"You're right about Seafood Atlantic. On our campsite scouting trip, we went there for lunch. Very good and not as expensive as I thought it would be. I also like the outside seating so I can watch the activity in the inlet. Fun stuff.
Maybe one day we can have a FF GG at Jetty. Wouldn't that be cool? "
Yep, sure does sound cool
-
"You know what would be cool?
If someone would go and take some photos of the Fiends leaving on the Dream! And hold up a Bon Voyage Fiends sign!
Maybe we have a local Fiend who would be willing to do that?"
Sorta what I had in mind to do. Don't know if I will be able to get over there but keep an eye out, you never know.
What time does the ship leave? It's on Sunday, right?

TCD said,
"I have often wanted to take a trip over to the east coast to watch the sunrise and then head back home to watch the sunset on the same day. I don't know why, but I think that would be cool."
That's been on my agenda since moving to Florida in the 70's.

  I love camping at Jetty Park!!!
I'm an early riser also and enjoy the sunrises and all the birds eating and flying around on the beach.
Tried to get a site for the Labor Day weekend but it was full. Wanted to go wave bye-bye to you Fiends as the Disney ship went by. Might go over anyway for the afternoon just to wave. I found out about this forum too late to join in the cruise fun, but want to "see" y'all off. The folks on the ships always look like they are already having fun. Sensei you are right about the viewing deck on top of the building. I hardly ever see anyone up there.
Jetty Park was one of the best places to watch shuttle lift offs, still great for other rockets.
A great place to eat is Seafood Atlantic. It's located about a mile from JP in an area with other seafood restaurants. We like all the restaurants we have tried but this is our favorite. Seating is outside and hours are limited but the seafood is very fresh, yummy!
Sensei your photos are doing a good job of showing JP. Looking forward to the rest of the story.

I'll add my WOW to the compliments. Loved the up close and personal of the tiger. I love to go to AK in the winter when we get cold spells, the tigers seem to love the weather and are up and about. As you saw, they like rainy weather too. The sunset pics of the tree and from the dock are wonderful, what a talent--can't be JUST the camera. Thanks!

I have t-shirts from the Jamacian Sled Dog Team !!!!!   Even went to Nome for the finish in 2009 ;D

We've got some rain and wind today, not as much as perdicted, at least not yet.
Should be dry and sunny and have the pollen washed out of the air when you get here.
