  2. My kids are 15 and 18 now, we had one year when we had 4 Disney trips in a 12 month period (we live in NH) that was a FUN year for sure!!! it gets harder as the kids get older, enjoy it while you can!! Looking forward to reading more!!
  3. GREAT trip report as always!!!! Really looking forward to the next one! Heidi
  4. Great update! Awesome pictures of the owls! I have never seen owls at the fort before. Our family LOVES the bike path between the fort and the lodge. On days that we are just hanging around the fort, we'll do that ride at least 2-3 times a day. Its one of my most favorite places on Disney property. it is always so quiet and peaceful. You can hear the train whistle from the Magic Kingdom and of course the horns from the boats. I always have that happy feeling when we are biking along on that path. Well, actually, I have that happy feeling whenever I am at the fort!!! Sorry your still lagging fr
  5. TCD, Hey thanks for the update........sorry about the pressure! I really enjoyed reading it as well as all of the photos! Nice work!!!! I want one of those Mickey pretzels! Yum!!! Thanks for that pulled pretzel recipe. Once I get my appetite back I am going to give that a whirl. Fun car ride down Main Street! When I was a teenager it seemed that a variety of vehicles were out all the time, seems like you dont see them too often anymore. I quick story, two years ago we went to Disneyland. (talk about a fun summer, we spent eight nights at DL, flew home for four days, then flew down to WDW for a
  6. Stef, Thanks for the prayers! The whole cancer thing is a bummer......despite the fact that I was nailed with a double cancer diagnosis, one being espeicially harsh (ovarian......less than 20% that are diagnosed live longer than five years........I am 44.) I have a really good prognosis, both of my cancers were caught early and my oncologist has looked me in the eye and told me that i will beat this. Despite all that good news, it's still tough and I will happily take any prayers sent my way! Stef, I know that I can count on you to keep TCD on track with getting his trip report up for all of u
  7. TCD, I was so happy to see another TCD trip report up!!!! I was even happier to read that you will have a trip report in progress from now to the new year!!!! Woohoo!!!! I see lots of fun reading in my future!!! Love all the Halloween pictures. I have never been to the fort for Halloween.......it is on my list of things to do! Glad the weather cleared up for everybody on Halloween, it must have been disappointing to wake up to the dreary day then all the heavy rain. Looking forward to reading more..........tomorrow I will be sitting for the whole day getting my chemo treatment, yes, that is 6
  8. Great trip report!!!! You guys sure had a good time. Love the parade pics. That golf cart made into Mater was amazing!!!!!! A few years ago we watched the 4th of July golf cart parade, now I HAVE to see the Halloween one. Its hard to believe all the time/effort that people put into decorating for the parade as well as their sites..........I miss the fort!!! Heidi
  9. I am so enjoying reading about your trip. You have a beautiful family! Looking forward to reading about the race. I used to be a runner and always wanted to do a Disney race..........maybe someday! Looking forward to reading more! Heidi
  10. I am really enjoying your trip report!!! Lessons learned is a fun idea!! I can understand your feelings about Tom Sawyers. We have boys, so the island has always been a hit. However, what really breathed new life into it for us, even at my boys ages on our August trip (15 and 18) is the hidden paintbrushes. We actually went over three different days and found a brush on each day. Woohoo for us!!! They give you special fast passes as a prize for finding the paintbrush. Can't wait to read more! Heidi
  11. Really enjoying your trip report and looking forward to more!! Boy, that sure was a lot of water around your camper!!!!!
  12. TCD, Wow, what a nice surprise, I didnt expect another trip report so soon!!!!!! I laughed out loud about the cast member at the Studios giving you wrong information about the Cars topiary!!!! We too, have encountered so many cast members that say the craziest things. I often say that if we have a true question, we have to do a "survey" and pose the question to a dozen cast members and take the top answer!!!! Loved reading about the food and wine festival. We have never been and would like to some day. Boy, do I wish that I was a TCD twin and got to go to Disney SO OFTEN!!!!! You guys certainl
  13. TCD, One of the things that makes your posts so much fun to follow, is how you can dig up all the old fort stuff!!!!! What a great old map you found!! And there surely is a cabin pictured! The more I have thought about the cabin made me realize something........even though I have been going to the fort since 1976, I dont know if I can remember really being over in that area until my boys were small and we would go fishing there, that would probably have been around 1999. I just always assumed that the cabin sitting there was the same one from the campsite.........who knew!!!! As a side note,
  14. TCD, My memory must be slipping as I don't ever remember a cabin by the swamp trail until the cabin was removed from the campsite!! I think the year that we were going to stay in it was 1999. We still did go during that April even though we couldnt stay in the cabin. That trip was the first that we noticed the cabin by the swamp trail. I always assumed that it was the same one. I can't remember for sure what it cost a night when we had that reservation, but I "think" it was around $40.00, maybe $50.00 per night. Thanks for asking about my health. I will be starting chemo soon, which I am absol
  15. TCD, As always a wonderful report!! Between your writing and all the pictures, I almost feel like I am right there with you and your family!!! It was fun to get a peek inside of the cabin. The last year that the cabin was in the campground, we held a reservation to stay in it during our April vacation. We were so excited...........then I got a letter in the mail letting me know that the cabin was unavailable and I needed to make alternate plans. It was a bummer.......... I so hope you get to go back to the fort soon, so I can read another trip report! Heidi
  16. TCD, Loved reading about your night at the Hoop De Doo. I have been twice, once when I was 15 and a second time when I was 16. (I am now 44, so its been a LONG time!!!) We always talk about going again, but the pricetag always takes my breath away!!!!! Its funny how it hasnt seemed to change much over the years. I remember twirling my napkin and hitting a spoon on the washboard.......good times!!! Can't wait to read more! Heidi
  17. Happy Birthday TCD!!!!!! What a fun surprise to log on this afternoon and see a new report from you! Those River Country photos never fail to bring a tear to me eye.............I spent so many happy times there as a kid and I was lucky enough to bring my own kids when they were 1 and 4 right before it closed for good. I sure do miss the place! We have been at the fort when entire loops are empty too, it sure makes for a different feel. Looking forward to more! Heidi
  18. TCD, I really am Heidi!!!! I was ahead of you in line, I think that I may have been in front of Mr. potatoe head, when I introduced myself. For even more evidence that this is really me, I waved to you once I was in the ride vehicle and passed you and the twins in line ready to board. I was by myself in the ride vehicle, my boys were behind me. (my husband was getting FP's for later) My boys claimed that you snapped a picture of us, when we were at the bottom of the stairs and you were at the top.........ok, now do you believe it was me??? I even think that I remember what I was wearing if yo
  19. TCD, I have joined, I have joined!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was GREAT to meet you at TSM!!!! We to had just finished the "running of the bulls at Pomplona" as you so aptly described!!!! Considering, I was just four weeks out from cancer surgery, I did pretty darn good to get myself in the building so quickly!!!! Maybe it had something to do with my two teenage boys urging/pushing me along!! Boy, was I in for a shock when I got into the building. As I was catching my breath, I glanced over my shoulder, turned forward again and thought to myself, "hey, that looked like TCD!!!" I turned around aga
