We had to cancel our reservations and reschedule for July 4.  The grandkids have been really sick with strep throat, the flue, a virus, and croup..  We didn't want to chance it.  They are looking forward to July and we will be at the fort for Christmas another year.  Atleast we will be able to stay longer in July.

Bummer but glad you could reschedule.

Kelly, that display is so awesome! We have come a long way from those "large" screw in Christmas bulbs... remember the ones if one went out the whole string wouldn't work...

Seeing this makes me so want to be at the Fort right now.  I hope you guys have a blast and have a Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas to you too! True confession... I still love the classic look too.

Very nice.  Lot of cool RGB components there.  Is it Light o Rama that he is using?

    Thank you! No, it’s xlights.

  4. About a year ago, Jason decided that he wanted a timed to music light show, and we decided we’d bring it to the Fort. Jason learned the software... we picked songs... he bought, built, and programmed.

Today is opening night, and it’s been a hit! For those who can’t make it, here are some clips. I’ll try to post some of the other songs too. I’m really proud of his hard work!

Christmas has always been magical for our family at the Fort. Just remember to thoroughly enjoy your family time there. Our last Christmas there 2017 as a family was wonderful! Not to be corny or Debbie downer, treasure your time there. We are the perfect example of life changing in a blink. The Fort is awesome at Christmas. Enjoy!

We’ve always enjoyed hanging with you for Christmas. I hope we do it again someday. Thinking of you often.

Hey, y'all, it's been a while since I was on here. We are heading to the Fort this coming Saturday (22nd-30th). I'm doing my online check-in now and I know when we went in 2016 you could do the loop request there. Now I don't see it. Do we have to go back to faxing it in?

    Thanks!

Y’all are invited to come by my site on the evening of the 27th. Informal gathering.... I’ll post our site number when we get there.

Hopefully we will.  We are booked for a full hook up until the 31st and then we had to take a premium site.  Hopefully a full hook up will become available for the entire trip.

They may do New Years Eve.fireworks the night before like they do for 4th of July.  Others.on here may know that. So you could enjoy them early, then just relax New Years Eve.

They do, but I’m looking for a way to celebrate actual New Years Eve.

I can't see them closing the whole beach. I would mix up some drinks, grab some chairs, and head to the beach on the golf cart.

    I’m wondering....

We have usually watched the New Years fireworks on the 30th in the Magic Kingdom and then from the Beach at the Fort on NYE. If they are dumb enough to close the whole beach head down anyway. Bring popcorn, beer, and cheers and watch them try to turn everyone away from the beach. Should be a good time when the riots start.

    Could get interesting, right?

    Go to Epcot. Fuego!

just kidding- I've never done it, but I like the idea of taking the boat to the MK and watching the fireworks from outside the park, then jumping right in the line to get back to the Fort.

They are going to do the NYE fireworks at the MK on both the 30th and 31st. I plan to go on the 30th as per usual- it's never too bad.

    TCD

    Fuego!

Outside the park might win. I wonder how crowded it gets.

What we normally do, and are planning to do this year, is board a boat and go right inside the park in front of the train station.  We find a cool place to sit and my son puts on his gun mufflers so he can watch the fireworks and the sound doesn't bother him so much.  (it is really loud there)  From that vantage point, you can see all the way around the pond and you can see very clearly all the numbers of the countdown.  It works really well too because we are also the first ones back out to get back on the boat back to the fort.

However, I have been told by some awesome photography people that the TTC vantage point is much better than I just described.  I am currently in secret deliberations in my head on which way to go.  My son and I are going solo this year without the supergeek so we will have to make the decision on which point of view we want to see.

That sounds promising.  It’s harder to get two them the front of the Magic Kingdom though. And they’ll search my backpack. 🤣

  8. With the expensive party on the beach at the Fort, I'm trying to decide what to do for New Year's Eve. The original plan was to watch the fireworks on the beach. I'm a little worried that the party could take up the whole beach, although I'm wondering like TCD if the check in area indicates it will be on the smaller side.

We've never done a park on New Year's Eve. I really can't imagine the madness, especially getting back. But we are pondering that option. Having a 9 year old makes that a bit tough though, too.

    What would you do?

I asked through the travel agent portal for any details on where on the beach or if it was all. They ignored me the first time so I asked again. and again.

Finally I got this back in return which of course tells us nothing.

Greetings - This event will take place on Clementine's Beach at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. No further details regarding the specific area of the beach used for this event is available at this time. Thank you and have a Magical day!

I tried finding out as well.... no luck.

I'm guessing they are looking at how many tickets they sell, what the weather is like, etc., before they decide what area of the beach to take over. If weather is bad, the actual party will be at the backyard barbecue pavilion and they put some EZ-Ups on the beach for the actual fireworks. Only sell a few tickets, they make a small area. Way oversell, and they take over a larger area.

That's what I'm thinking as well.
