  1. I am posting this one for the new fiend here on FF.net who goes by the name Yensid Camper:

    Image2851.jpg

You know that Yensid is Disney spelled backward, right? And Yensid is the name of the Sorcerer in the Sorcerer's Apprentice, which can be seen in the movie Fantasia. I really am not a big Fantasia fan, so I don't know if the Sorcerer is shown in the movie, but that is not a good looking man, is it?

The Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game has turned out to be a hit with the TCD twins. I think it's dumb, but they like it. Since they have been playing it, I have paid a bit more attention to what happens at the various portals, and I have to admit that the technology is pretty cool, and that the game itself is much more fun than I inititally thought. And, based on the number of people I have seen playing the games, I am in the definite minority in thinking that the game is dumb.

TCD Thanks for the shout out! Sorry to be tardy to the party. I am catching up on TR's and finally reached this one. You da man!

Look for my avatar to contain a part of that card soon. I have been working the photoshop magic on it.

My boys loved this game as well.

  2. You guys post quick. I liked the old visitors center at the Dam, too bad it burned. I hope the new one is open. The overlook is worth a peek as well. I never have been to the farm can't wait to see that. Your report was a good one by the way!

Can't wait to play some cards.

If you go through downtown Carthage to see that store won't be speeding by, it is still a small little town with really narrow streets. Unless you like small town squares I recommend the bypass.

  3. Dave, don't forget the Gore-Liberman store in downtown Carthage. There is even a hanging Chad in their display, I hope they let him down soon...

Just kidding. Some poor political humor.

Many of you may not know that Al Gore former Vice-President and Presidential runner up is from Carthage, TN.

Defeated Creek is definitely a place you go to stay and enjoy the Campground and company.

Who likes to play cards sitting at the table watching the campfire?

  4. Here and in future posts will be just a few of the shots that were our favorites from each day of our trip and few of the YC crew! For TnBob's enjoyment it will be mostly pictures little commentary.

I love the Easter Mickey reflection in this shot, it was unintentional but neat all the same.

Home Sweet Home and look the sun came out just as we had finished the setup! I love the Fort.

This was a nice ending to a long day of traveling thanks to traffic and the rain.

  5. :bravo: Great mug to end with. Looking forward to the recap. ;D

Thanks Kim a pictorial of our week is forthcoming sort of the highlights and some good pictures as well as a few of me and my family coming shortly

You win, I love it!! :top-points-smiley:

One of my favorites, but i never use it for drinking. It sits by computer and holds pencils and stuff. Glad to see you are signed up for Defeated Creek.

    Job Well Done

    Thanks Monique!

  6. Where did you get the canopy over the picnic table the wife would like to get one.

Northern Tool Here are two links they have a more adjustable model now.

The sometimes run these on sale. They are very adjustable even to round tables. It sometimes doesn't shed hard rain as much as needed and has to be dumped. If you know what I mean.

  7. Here is a picture looking the other direction. I believe the campsite on the right of the picture is 67. All those kids in the field belonged to the group we were camping with. We were playing kickball with the kids. I cut out the picture of this person because I didn't know if they wanted their picture on the internet.

  8. Dogs are all around Defeated Creek everytime I have been there. My reservation confirmation says nothing about pets whatsoever. The weather is usually great in late September. Days typically warm enough to swim and lows cool enough for a campfire.

Here are the averages for September

Avg Hi Avg Low Mean Record Hi Record Low

    Sep 82°F 61°F 72° 105°F (1954) 36°F (1983

  9. Now that one is my new favorite. Can you tell I like Mickey coffee mugs? :))

Thanks Cherie, but I think this last one may be your new favorite. Thanks for reading along.

Whew! I just caught up on this TR! All 10 pages in one sitting!

Love Love Love this report! Great photos. Great Commentary... and most importantly Great Fun! (not to mention Great Mugs!) ;D

    HE-BREWS!!! :rofl2: :rofl3:

KFK, Thanks for reading along and laughing at my silly joke. I am looking forward to closing this one out and reading everyone else's.

  10. Dave,

I finally read the entire thing. What an awesome report! Your family is priceless. Thanks for sharing your family trip with us.

The Melvin story is great and well done on the photoshoping. However, I may have to call you out on the shimming up the pole. IF you daughter got in somehow then I suppose you could have gone in walked up the stairs and opened the doors and walked out? What is the truth Dave? Enquiring minds want to know!

You made good time back on that Saturday. We came back on that Sunday and it took us 16 hours, the Thanksgiving traffic was awful. Coming over Monteagle is always white knuckles for me and my hands cramp too. I have to agree that Chattanooga can be worse than Atlanta.

Maybe our families could camp somewhere in TN sometime with TNBob and any other regional FIENDS..

  11. Totally agree with squirrel sentiment. The $&@€ things chewed through several strands of my led Christmas lights over on the 1600 loop. I did everything possible to give my dog an advantage to hunt one down.

Kenny (of tee time fame) once told me that he often finds his stolen carts abandoned on property somewhere. It's not like they can drive them too far off property. Your pic of 609 was great!

    Caveat Lector,

    Thanks for reading and responding!

I understand squirrels chewing on things and finding their way into openings, but how did that little tree rat "know" to chew that bungee to gain access to the camper?

It is a little scary to me, almost like the Planet of the Apes, the squirrels are getting smarter than us!

Somebody had to have a good time in that cart and is having a good time telling the story! Wish I knew more.

  12. I'm sure you all are sick of hearing me say it, but I'm soooooooooo far behind on TRs!!

I really am trying to get caught up slowly but surely and finally got to this one.

    EXCELLENT JOB YC!

Love the mug theme, love how the pre-TR turned into the TR, love all the great pics, glad your son's arm is ok - that looks like it could have been a lot worse, love that you got to meet a bunch of Fiends, and especially love that you found us here and have jumped in with both feet and shared your experiences with us in this TERRIRIC TR.

What you said about "the past" is so true. And what others have said about Fiends being much more than random posts on a message board is true as well.

    FORT FIENDS ROCK!

And so does this trip report. :bravo:

P.S. If you need proof of that... this (so far) 9 page trip report by a "newbie" (well, maybe you were when you started, but you aren't now!) already has nearly 3000 views!

    :studsmatta-smiley:

Thank you so much for the words of encouragement and reading along! I have alot of reading to do. I didn't realize how much it takes to write a trip report. I know see why there aren't too many "live" TRs. I can't wait to have time to read all the others. Hope we get the opportunity to meet soon.

    YC

  13. Good Morning Fiends!

I realized I forgot the mug of the day yesterday. I only have two more so I will send us off on Monday morning with my last mug and bring this report to a close.

I have been looking at a bunch of pictures so I will post some of the more interesting ones this weekend.

But for now enjoy your morning cup!
