  1. Thanks for the congrats everybody!

I checked today and nothing new has been posted for this project, but I did see that the TCD Stables project got it's permit. It was issued on April 22, 2011. If you remember it only had a few design comments to address back in October, well I guess in March they started back to work on it and now its approved. They still have to get a construction permit but that shouldn't take long in Reedy Creek.

Here's the plan for anyone that hasn't seen it:

There wasn't any interesting changes to the TCD plans but I did see this:

Its the waste managment plan for the stables. lol I got a kick out of that, typical government they make you have a plan for everything!

Here's the response letter if you're interested:

  2. Time for another installment.

As you may remember, there have been persistent rumors for the last year or so about a big new construction project in the area of River Country. Slowly, information has been revealed which establishes that there is truth to these rumors. The specifics are still hazy, but the project involves relocating the current equine operations located in the Settlement area of the Fort up to the Outpost area. A permit application for the new horse barn and related buildings in the Outpost area was discovered by a fellow Fiend, WannaBeImagineer, and there was much discussion about these plans. The permit application was made last Fall. I figured that since they applied for a permit, and the information was being discussed publicly, that ground would be broken early in 2011.

Hey TCD, after reading this post I realized it had been awhile since I checked on this project, so I did a little digging. It looks like they fired it back up, they resubitted in March and the ERP permit was issued on April 22, 2011. That means they are clear to get a construction permit, so everyone keep an eye out for it. I'm guessing all this permitting activity might mean things are going to start moving.

  3. Hey TCD great report!

I just wanted to add that I read somewhere that the tarps/walls around the back of Cinderella's Castle are to block the view of the fantasy land construction from people eating at Cinderella's Royal Table. And when you call to make a reservation there they tell you that you're view will be blocked, so I guess that makes sense. They're using the tarps to prevent people from looking out instead of in.

Looking forward to the next installment.

  4. Thanks everybody!

Here's some more construction stuff for you. Its the project boundary shown on an aerial. I'm going to upload another print shortly and point out some interesting stuff. But just to get you going here's a couple:

    1. I'm pretty sure the lawnmower stump will be history with this project. They are putting in a golf cart parking lot in that area with pervious pavement type bricks.

    2. Notice the area all the way to the right by itself, thats where they have to scrape out the canal to add compensating flood plain since they are filling some low places for construction. It will bring the canal closer to the path in that one spot. I wish they would scrap the whole canal so it would hold water all the time!

I'm having a hard time uploading PDF's because of there size and the 500k max, is there a better way to do it?

  5. Thanks ya'll I'll try to be on here more often, lately I only pop on here when I find some good info to share. I do have a good excuse though for not being a regular, I got engaged! Yes the Camping Princess and I got engaged so I've been busy working on wedding plans. Speaking of that do you remember the trip report on Seaside, FL that TCD did last spring? Well because of that report, we went there on New Year’s Eve, and we liked it so much we decided that’s where we want to get married. We went up there over Easter and checked it out again and sure enough that's where it’s going to be. I'll post a picture of it shortly, but we're going to have the wedding in front of Vera Bradley's Inn by the Sea in November. I tried to get in touch with TCD to tell him about it since he helped me with a bunch of info around New Years, but as you know he's MIA these days.

Anyway that's what I've been up to. I AM going to Disney tomorrow though, (woohoo!!) we're doing the Expedition Everest Challenge Saturday night. We're not staying at the Fort but we're planning on swinging by Saturday morning to look around. Is anyone goign to be around?

  6. WannaBeImagineer posted some great information on that thread.

Maybe he will get another one going here.

Calling WBI, are you out there?

Sorry guys, I missed this thread, I haven't been online much lately, but I just posted a new topic with a plan showing the relocated Backyard BBQ pavilion.

  7. Breaking News!!! I came across an application this morning, its only for the ERP permit so construction will probably won’t happen for a little while but here’s the description form the application:

Project improvements generally consist of 3.65 acres of infrastructure to serve a new dining pavilion building and associated pargo (golf cart) parking at Fort Wilderness. The proposed improvements will drain to a proposed equalized dry detention pond system.

I’ll get a copy of the plan posted in a few.

  8. You heard it here first, I'm guessing, haha.

I saw today that the Grand Floridian applied for an ERP permit to modify their site and add a building along the Seven Seas Lagoon.  They are going to demo the tennis courts, add a new building with its own drive up access, a new parking lot, modify the lake bank, and modify the walkway from the Poly.  It looked like a big project I think around 15 acres.  The plans are online but good ole Disney used a code name again.

What do you think it will be?  I'm guessing a DVC bulding with villas.

I?ve never stayed at the GF, and I know this isn?t Fort news I just thought I?d share with everyone.  It?s hot off the press too, it was submitted yesterday, how?s that for up to date reporting!
