  1. I seem to lagging behind and there have been a few 4th TRs done allready, but, it does take a while to upload 780 photos to photobucket. If youre lucky, you may see all of them. Plus we just got home. We will start from the top. Star date, 30 June 2011, 1100 hours, I start breaking camp at "home" to make the long trek to the Fort. As everyone knows, Florida weather is always nice and sunny, so it was a huge suprise to me when in the middle of hitching up, the skies open up and dump liquid sunshine all over me. After waiting about an hour for it to let up, I give in and finish in the rain. Woul
  2. I told you you would enjoy the show, even if you're not a "star wars geek".
  3. I bet, I could handle the lightning, but driving in that rain that preceeded it would have gave me grey hairs. The 5th picture there is a little deciving. It looks just like a large flash, but if you look real close, its a large bolt, the extrem brightness just drowned it out some. BTW, someone vandalized your avatar. They put a big B on there.......
  4. This made me laugh. I would have kept the clock as a conversation piece. Maybe place it on a quji board or something. We had a few of those strikes here. So close you can hear the electrical "snap" and buzz and then the hair on your arm stands up. I was up almost all night checking on the sites around me. They are empty so I would be the first to know if they got struck.
  5. It takes allot of patience and good timing, oh and luck. These were the best of the over 200 shots I took, so as much as I would like to say Im that good, allot of trial and error was used to get these....
  6. I am an amature photographer. I love taking pictures and part of that is trying to get that one cool shot. Well, we had a huge thunderstorm roll through on Jun 15, followed by a very impressive light show. Lightning non stop for hours. I instinctivly grabbed my camera and this is what I got.
  7. Actualy, the link you provided looks exactly like the picture TCD posted. I think you got it right and my theroy is a bust.
  8. My guess would be that it is a fly repeller. The water bag method of fly repellant has many supporters, from restaurant owners to backyard grill-masters. Many success stories ranging from the mild to the miraculous litter the Internet. So how does the method drive flies away? Some insist the flies perceive the clear liquid as the surface of a body of water. Others claim the insect flies away at the sight of its own magnified reflection. But the most popular reasoning that pops up among entomologists and patent-filing entrepreneurs is simple light refraction. Refraction takes place when a clea
  9. First off, sorry for derailing your thread. But since there seems to be a couple of interested parties, I will post a reply here. The sites here are pretty big, length wise. We have a 40ft fiver and when backed in, I can still fit my megacab in the front of it. Width wise, the pad is just big enough to fit a standard size Class A. There is a pretty good sized patio with picnic table on each site. The sites are well spaced and you do not feel like you are ontop of your neighbors. There are two "comfort stations" opened during snow bird season. Showers are clean and the laundry is well kept. The
  10. No web site. We pay $350 plus electric a month. That's for an extended stay. Not sure about monthly. I can get an info sheet from the office and. find out for ya.
  11. We live in Polk City at LeLynn RV resort. Its a nice place and reasonabley priced. Right off of I4 but not so close you hear road noise all day. It is out in the sticks with the closests major shopping being about 10 miles for a Walmart. The staff here are great, BUT, if you want to snowbird here, call now. Come Oct, this place is filled full. You do have to pay for electricity, but its not bad during the winter unless you use a space heater constantly. Its about 30-40 mins from Disney.
  12. I used the clear gorilla glue to hold mine together. You have to watch it though as it expands while drying and if not carefull, you could end up with glue runs. I used one of those 5 gllon paint buckets from home depot. Cut some holes in the top and back and used standard plumbing piping to hold the pole straight and run the cord through. Then paint the bucket with the plastic paint and add some sand for weight. Turned out decent.
  13. I love the perks DW gets for working for WDW. The only downside, the friends/family who appear out of nowhere when they find out you work for Disney. I cant count how many phone calls she gets to get them into the parks. The thing is, those are my tickets....the way I figure it, we can go to the parks about twice a month for the whole year, for free. Almost like having an AP. If we find we havent been in a while, we go just for dinner. My plan in about a year is to get a job there as well, so we could go every weekend for the entire year. DW likes her job and loves working for Disney, but lik
  14. Wish we could have been there, but my daughters graduation was this weekend too. That took priority. Stone Mountain is where I proposed to my wife. I planned it so I popped the question just before the fireworks so when she said yes, fireworks went off at that time. Not sure what woulda happened if she said no..... Looks like everyone had fun.
  15. I got all of my supplies from Home Depot. They do not always have the 8" globes in, but ussualy get them regularly. So keep checking.
  16. Due to the holiday weekend, the guest parking lot at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will be restricted on May 27-30. The parking lot will be restricted to only those staying at the resort or with dining or recreation reservations.
  17. YES.....They pulled out another clencher. One more game to take the bruins out, then on to the Canucks.
  18. The Flag code is a law, but there is no penalty for breaking this law and it is rarely enforced, which is a shame.
  19. Not to hijack your TR, but since you asked..... Thats DW on the end with the rifel DW is on the right (the one in the Navy uniform) DW has since been discharged from the Navy and now a CM at Disney. But this was definetly a memorable moment for her. I missed the whole thing as I was in Korea during this time. I ahd to live through these photos like you all do.
  20. Hate to break this to you, but the United States Flag Code makes no distinction between a "new" flag and a "historic" flag. According to the Flag Code, a flag is a flag or anything "by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag." All of these would fall under the same laws and regulations for proper display and patriotic customs.
  21. Im not sure what jorts are, but...... DW had the privalage to be a part of this ceremony for a special memorial day performance when she was in the Navy. Disney actualy called her unit and requested them to perform color details at this. In exchange, she got a full CD of photopass pictures and 4 free passes to use when ever she wanted and was allowed access to the park after the ceremony. They were in full dress uniform for this. It was a great experience for her and something she will always remember. Ill have to dig up the photos and post them. I try to make it to this ceremony at least onc
  22. There are three "Water Bridges" at Walt Disney World. One is on World Drive just south of the Contemporary Resort. One is on the east side of Epcot Resorts Drive just north of the Boardwalk Resort. The other is back stage at Epcot next to the one on Epcot resorts Drive.
  23. Im not sure when they added the concrete around the fire pit either. Thinking back, I never noticed it before. Ill have to peruse my older pics and see if we can determine a date as to when. There was a path to left as well, but it only went a little bit before it was too overgrown to manage. The one that went to the right (the one I followed) was more manageable. I guess you can say I took the path more traveled. I did not even know this existed much less it used to be a regular part of the Fort. I hate that they took away allot of this. This would have been great to follow all the way to the
  24. It does kind of look like that.
  25. Thank you, sometimes you just have to throw caution to the wind and splurge.
