  1. ... but then what do they do with the partial sites? Like TCD said, they've never clearly and consistently publicized policy when it comes to whether or not people can have pets in tents/popups, and people often report pets in both the 1500 & 2000 loops.

According to the FD they are not supposed to have any in those loops since they cannot regulate the cooling system for the animals. However, that's not true to the case.

  2. What's wrong with all you animal haters?

fur babies are people.  They should have the same rights as any other guest.  If they want to bark all day and night so what.  If they poop on your site it's just their way of saying hello.   Bedsides why should I follow the rules. I'm paying a lot of money to stay at Disney.   And if I want to let my baby run around I will. He's part of the family.   It's my vacation!!!

this has been an illustration of the attitudes I see some people having now a days.   We have become an "it's all about me" society.

And IMHO it's going to take something drastic before Disney does anything to enforce its own rules.  It will probably take a kid been bitten by a dog who Disney allowed in a non designated pet loop.  I can here it now. Your honor we asked for a loop that doesn't allow pets and right after we arrived at our site and got out of our vehicle this dog ran up and bit our child.  We later found out that not only did Disney know this dog was in a non-designated pet loop, they knowingly sent the owners to this site because the loops which allow dogs was full.   Even though there were guests in those loops that didn't have a pet.

Do they even have designated pet loops any more?

I'm not an animal hater at all. In fact I have 3 pups and 4 cats. So I can't be.

But to me it's the point of what I had seen in the loop that shocked me. Especially after knowing the rules of no pets in tents or pop ups. I would love to take my fur babies, including the one that has separation anxiety, with me. However, I've never been able to because how I camp. (Tents)

But what you referenced was exactly what I was afraid of. An animal coming up and biting my grandkids.

I don't think you should feel bad at all.  The Fort needs to do a much better job of communicating their rules.  They used to be pretty vigilant about asking guests to sign a pet agreement which included all kinds of rules, but reports lately are that they are very inconsistent with this.  It sounds like no one asked you to sign a pet agreement for your ball of fluff.

I've only camped in my pop up camper, and the rules used to specifically say it was OK to have a dog with you if the unit had AC.  For a long time, the Disney site didn't state the rules.  We just had Rocky with us over this past Thanksgiving, and no one told us we couldn't have him there in our camper.  He's camped with us, on and off, since he was a puppy, and he's about to turn 7 next month.  Now the Disney site does say no pets in pop-ups.  I don't know how I'm going to break that news to Rocky.

    TCD

They say it.... but how many enforce it? If you're in a full site, apparently they will allow you to have your animal. That's what I was told at the front desk.

Did we mention in addition to the dogs in the 2000 loop the fact that most of the "305" area code was there and throwing up all night?  Normally, I enjoy being next to the comfort station and enjoy not having to walk a long way when we bring the popup.  (no, I didn't bring the dog, because dogs don't belong in tents or popups unless you are staying with them 24/7 and watching them at every second)  We "enjoyed" (in my most sarcastic voice) the chanting of "let's hear it for the 305" and all of the running through my site from the children, as they tripped over the power cords to the popup and ran into the popup and my cars.  I said many ugly things in spanish and english.

So, I am usually tolerant of dogs and kids, however, this weekend was a little much for both.  I don't think I will be staying in the 2000 with all of Miami again.  I will pay the upgrade to full.

You were near the second comfort station close to where I was. Yeah there was 6 families that came with one of the 305 groups. It didn't help also that some of the kids tried (I use that term loosely) to fight me with me. That's when I called Orange County. Some of those kids were just too much. Most of those families were around me and even tried to take one of the spots that my other family member was using. I know one group just pulled into a spot without being assigned because it brought problems later on in the day. I will say it was a mess. That's why next year I'm going in earlier and leaving later. I can't pay for the upgrade since most of the family is in tents.

I am praying hard that everything will work out.

Joan is so very beautiful that I literally cried when I saw her. The hardest part will be letting her be our son's service dog and not my special girl. I've had a sweet spot for German Shepherds and Great Danes since I was a little girl.

Interestingly, of all the dogs (and cats) that we have ever had, we have never intentionally set out to acquire them. They just sort of find their way to us, where they live until ripe old ages. The entrance to our property is a what I call a Realtor's nightmare. As you drive through the little wooded areas, the first thing you see, on the right, is a clearing with one of our dogs' grave, complete with standing tombstone and a photo of him laser etched on it.

We have two cats as well, although I couldn't tell you for sure where either came from. One we brought when we moved from WV, but she just randomly moved in with us there. The other has done the same since we lived here. I think we have that "sucker" gene that animals can sniff out.

    Update us with Pictures!

We are in the 200 loop now. We have dogs on both sides of us and across. The people next to us let their two big dogs run free. This morning I almost stepped in dog crap, on my site. I talked to the front desk and was told when it is crowded like it is right now, "there will be dogs in every loop". However, the policy did not change. Someone said there were dogs in the comfort stations. It is really ridiculous.

Oh heck no, I think at that point I would have contacted managers and General Managers. That's too far and was my worry when I was camping last week. I didn't want the 1 1/2 year old or 9 month old to step/crawl in it.

Gadzooks.  Again, I can't imagine how this all could have gone so amazingly wonky.  Here's hoping a totally different team is working on Avatarland!

There were a lot of things they didn't foresee prior to creating ROL. I know they are hard at work with it since this has been a project that should have been opened a year ago.

    Interesting.

Tiffins is right next to the Pandora entrance.

But, judging from the current state of the construction, and the announced opening in "summer," I am having a hard time envisioning what they would possibly preview in the next two months.

    TCD

Only able to say so much, but they have a few things that will be 'previewing' while the construction is going on.

    Thank so much!

Do you find loop 2000 overly noisy?

We are actually Disney veterans and did rent an ECV in December, for the last half of our trip. It worked out great with the buses from the hotel, but I was concerned about so many transfers within the Fort that that other folks may get annoyed. I also tend to over think everything.

We are avid campers and I've camped since birth. All of my kids have grown up camping, and now my grandchildren are as well. It's just been so many years since I've been the Fort, and reading things on different boards around the internet had me filled with anxiety over if the Fort was still the same or turned RV resort. Although, in my experience, even folks in the high dollar RVs at the state parks are the best. I just got worried, with Disney being costly for out of state people, it may have started to attract different types. I was so thankful to read all the replies here. We are always more comfortable camping than a hotel.

Prior to my son being injured and disabled, I didn't get crazy like this.

It's been a long 3.5 years of recovery and adjusting to our new reality and new life. It's all good though. We have our son, he is still here with us.

Disney is a therapy of sorts for our son. As backwards as that may sound for someone with PTSD, it really is the case. Due to his brain injuries, he can't be very independent in most places. Disney is like a little world unto itself where I feel comfortable giving him that independence and he grows more confident from it. Since it was a place our family always went before, and he enjoyed, it works out perfectly for us. He can't hike the trails anymore in the state parks when camping, but he can be on his own in a Disney Park and it's impossible to get lost, as long as he doesn't leave the park.

The only time I really find it overly noisy is when the scouts camp. Otherwise, the most noise I find is the other campers kids (which isn't going to be much since they are in the slower season) and the fireworks/Water parade every night You'll hear them no matter where you are. Plus quiet time is at 10pm. During the day most of the people are at the parks.

My 4 kids grew up there. The oldest is now 23  (he started camping at 2) with his 2 girls learning the 'roughing it' camping in tents. Even potty training 5 out of the 6 of them there. Yes, it can be done. The great thing about the Fort is that all the camping areas are loops. So your son can go around in circles walking/scooter with the freedom you so desire. I let mine as they grew gain that 'Independence' so to speak.

My favorite part is that it is close to the quiet pool between the cabins too. I never have to deal with the crowds at the main pool. It might not have the slide for the kids, but they still have fun playing marco polo.

Even though you'll see a lot of big rvs, there are plenty of people that have tents and small pop ups. So you can be as redneck as you want to as sophisticated as you feel. ;)

With your son having PSTD, I'm not sure if loud noises will effect him like the fireworks. Look at the times guide for the firework schedule. You can always count on Epcot at 9pm and the water parade at 9:30. As for Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, those change depending on the park hours. You will no matter where you are at Fort hear them all. Listening to all of them go off on New years was really loud.

  10. Roberta,

The gang at Fort are really good. I just finished camping there for the 20th year running in the 2000 or the 1500 loop. The cost of a single day golf cart will be 60.00 (just under it but was better to round it up). Since it is the slower season, you are pretty much able to go up and get it for the day. They open at 9 and you can call 7-2727 from the house phone at the comfort stations.

Accommodations for the scooters/wheelchairs are phenomenal. They have dedicated areas for the scooters to tell the buses there is one waiting. They are also first on last off on most transportation.

As for the decorations and all that jazz, you don't have to worry. I camp via tents. It's how I grew up. I try to one up from the previous year when it comes to the holidays, but I'm definitely not a million dollar rv camper nor always have the most decorated site. It's just great to see most of the site decorations.

Most of all just have fun. Don't worry about anyone and have loads of fun.

Based on how things have gone lately, I can't imagine that they would open both ROL and Pandora on the same day.  They will milk these things for all they can.

The likely scenario to me is to make a big deal about ROL- open that for Memorial Day weekend, and then when that hype dies down, open Pandora.  They'll probably keep on saying "summer," and that will be enough to drive ticket sales and hotel bookings while guests speculate about when it will finally open.  Remember, summer doesn't start in 2017 until June 21.  They never said spring, they've only said summer.  I don't see Avatar officially opening until after June 21.

By the way, I think it should be mentioned that the nighttime safari is a confirmed flop, and it wouldn't surprise me if that quietly disappears.

    TCD

I can confirm they will not. There are some things that will need to be worked on for ROL before it opens.

However, I can say that there will be something in the works before Avatar opens. Be on the look out for a special preview within the next 2 months. I haven't heard the official date just yet, but know it's going to be something quite awesome to see with food included from one of their newest restaurants.

  12. So I am normally in loop 2000 for the last 20 years. Every time it's been a non-pet loop because they do not allow pets in tents or in small pop ups. We just left there and spent all of Christmas and New Years there. To my amazement, there were a ton of pets in the loop. I know there was some overflow which I could see the pets coming from them. However, that wasn't the case. These animals from small dogs to German Sheppards were staying in tents and pop ups. They were even tied to the picnic benches. Thank god it wasn't the typical Florida days during the time. I went to the front desk and asked about it, but they said no it had not changed.

Has any one else experienced this?

A cousin of a friends friend who used to be a CM's girlfriend but now is dating a tattoo artist working in Melbourne heard that there is a new nighttime parade in Disneyland,

    Something call an Electric Parade?

It's not new. It's the normal parade that gets transferred every 3 years back and forth between California and Florida. It won't be back until 2020ish. Maybe sooner.
