Don't go look at it by yourself and let your family know where you're going. There are a lot of crazies out there who would try to lure you in with a good deal. I will not apologize for being over cautious.

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. It's always hard to lose a pet, as most of us know, they are such an integral part of our lives. It helps to have a place to journal my thoughts. But, on an up note, we will be raising a toast to George on Wednesday with my Mah Jongg group. I can't even tell you how many times he cleared all of our side tables, full of wine and snacks, with a happy wag of his tail. But the girls would never hear of me putting him up during our game. RIP George....we will miss you!

Gulf Waters RV Resort in Port Aransas, TX is very nice. They have a nice Boardwalk to the beach, each site is individually landscaped with trees, barbecue pits, wind blocks, grass or pavers. You can bring your golf cart which must be insured and street legal and licensed for Port Aransas. You can drive your cart on the beach, in the resort and anywhere in Port Aransas.

George passed on this morning at 4:00 am. I'm still sad, but I know in my heart he's out of pain and in a better place. Thank you for being here and giving me a place to share my feelings.
-
I don't usually share , but I'm so sad today that I can't stop crying and I just need to put my thoughts down. I know everyone has been here at one time or another, but My precious George who is my 95 lb., 14 year old lab is going to a better place tomorrow. He can no longer pick himself up or hold his body up to take care of business. Yesterday he started refusing all food and water. I should have taken him to the vet on Friday, but I wasn't ready to say goodbye. He has been the sweetest, most gentle but also protective pet there ever was. He came to live with us in 2010 when my father in law died. He has been my protector, even when I didn't realize I needed it and he has been a gentle friend to every bird and squirrel in our neighborhood. I'm having a hard time saying goodbye to my gentle giant.

Since Fort Wilderness is essentially a "gated community" and the roads are privately owned and maintained, then I don't think those statutes would apply.Statutes & Constitution :View Statutes : Online Sunshine
If the above link works then take a look. If I'm reading this correctly then a child 14 and over can legally operate a golf cart at the fort as long as reedy creek has proved the use of golf carts in that area

We have "Shrimporee" every year during the second weekend of June. Shrimping was the main industry of Aransas Pass until just recently. The festival is kicked off with a big parade and includes our famous "outhouse race competition." There are cooking demonstrations, carnival rides, craft booths, music and dancing every night and of course, shrimp cooked every way imaginable.

Sorry about the confusion over the lack of punctuation. I called the bike barn and got the winners list. I'm not sure I have all the details correct, but this is what I heard.
139. Uncle Sam
140. Mickey
122
134
137 best over all patriotic
One of the winners was the Cinderella cart and the other one was the Star Wars cart.

I thought you were posting pictures.

Does anyone know which carts won the 4th of July golf cart parade?

Call the fort, I got one last minute yesterday.

As promised, here are some photos taken on Friday evening June 12, 2015 showing what is currently going on in the 900 loop.
I had taken the bus from the Outpost to the Settlement for a take out dinner from Trail's End. On the way there, I saw that the 900 loop was fenced off with that impenetrable white plastic fencing that those in charge of things at the Fort use to keep guests away from things they don't want them to see.
After dinner, I decided to take a stroll, and walked up Fort Wilderness Trail from the Settlement, past the 700 loop, then the 600 loop, then the 800 loop, until I came to the small area across from the Meadow Trading Post that provides 15 minute parking spaces for guests visiting the Trading Post. There's a lift station there, and the back of site 903 isn't far from that. So, I took a look into the loop, and saw this:
Thanks for the update! Looks like we might get our site requests after all.
Nobody was looking at me, so I took a few steps closer, so I could see what was going on:
Since I was already this far in, I took a few more steps because I wanted to make sure the tetherball court was still OK. The TCD dog Rocky would want to know:
Well, darn, I really didn't mean to do it, but now here I was in the 900 loop. I hadn't passed any signs that told me to keep out. I figured it wouldn't hurt to take a few more photos, so I took this one of the front of site 902:
There's a nice shiny new corrugated drainage pipe in the ground there:
There obviously had been a trench dug across the loop road here, and the other end of that shiny new pipe is over there:
Let's review- there was a pile of old corroded pipes on that trailer in site 903, and there's evidence of a trench being dug, and shiny new pipes in the ground. What could this all be about? I think it's obvious, don't you? The Fort is being converted into a DVC resort. It's all right there-plain as day.
As long as I was here, I figured that I should check on the Lazydays trailer.
Here's site 904- I could already see that something was missing on 905:
Here we are:
Here is something that no one has seen for at least five years- site 905, empty:
All of the 900 loop was empty. How many times do you get a chance to walk around an empty loop? Let's go:
The Fort looks pretty good when there's not a bunch of trailers blocking the view:
There's the path to the group camping area. Apparently, there was no sign on the other side of the bridge telling those people to keep out, as there were several groups of people I observed walking to and from the group camping area as I was performing this inspection:
We're halfway around the loop now, and on the home stretch:
Here we are at the end of the loop, looking toward the area where the construction work was done. It ends up that this is the only area on the loop where any work has been done:
Here's the impenetrable fence:
And here's the sign telling guests to stay out. But wait, it says foot traffic is OK, and that is what I had been engaged in- foot traffic- so, as always, no rules were broken in bringing you these photos:
One last photo, as I left the 900 loop:
There you go.
We now know why the 900 loop was closed.
It looked like they were pretty much done. They need to cover up that trench and put the fencing back around the new pipe, and they should be good to go. I'm guessing the 900 loop will be back in action some time this week. And, I'll bet that Lazydays trailer will be back soon too.

We also requested the 900 loop and we are arriving on the 21 of June, but no one has called us yet. Hopefully it will be back and running by the time we arrive. We are at the Fort now. We had requested Loop 900 when we first made reservation. Received a phone call from a CM two weeks ago telling us the loop would be closed for renovations and to request another loop.
There were RVs in 900 when we arrived last Saturday but by Sunday evening, all were gone and entrance barricade in place.

I'm not sure what criteria they use to designate a site as difficult. We're not very good at backing our motorhome, but some of the sites we've been in , which we're designated difficult, we're actually very easy for us. However, one site we thought was a breeze, some people in a fifth wheel thought it was very hard to back into. Maybe the type of rig makes a difference??

I haven't been to any of the listed parks, but the park in New Braunsfels..is probably an "is what is" kind of park. That park is on the Guadalupe River and people pour in there and drink heavy. It is party time on the river.

Update on Lulu....
Lulu's family opted to drive to Disneyworld ( a very long drive from here) and were involved in a multi vehicle accident around 4:00 am yesterday morning ( I think probably in Louisiana). Luckily, they walked away without a scratch but others were not so lucky. It took quite awhile to get another rental car, but it arrived and they got back on the road several hours later. They have just arrived, and I'm so excited because they are getting to stay at Give Kids the World Village.

We have an old , 94 lb. lab who has terrible arthritis and we live on the water where he has to climb stairs everyday. We have found that rubber backed throw rugs at the beginning and end of the stairs helps him get some traction. He also requires a lot of light so he can see where he's going. It's so hard getting him in and out of the car to go to the vet, that we haven't tried taking him in the motorhome.
-
Lulu has received her Make A Wish box and they are leaving for Disneyworld on Thursday. She was granted her special wish of meeting Elsa. I haven't found out where they are staying, but no matter where it is, I know they will have a magical time and have one special memory to treasure forever. Thank you again for all the information and especially for all the prayers.
-
Oh no! That's the loop we requested.
-
Thank you for sharing the link. Give Kids the World Village is amazing. I had to go further and look up You Tube videos....so I've been crying all afternoon at what an awesome foundation this is for children. After looking at all of these things, I know LuLu and her family are going to be well taken care of. Thank you again.
-
Thank you so much for all the information and especially the prayers.
-
I truly appreciate all this information. Her teacher had given the family her tickets to Disney World and the community has been raising money, but it will be wonderful that her teacher and her daughter, who is LuLu's best friend , will now be able to take the trip with them. Now that I have more information, I will call the mom tomorrow , get their exact timeline, and see if we can give them either a special dinner or send all the girls to Bippity Bop Boutique.
-
That makes me feel so much better. Do you think they provide any special meals or events..such as Bippidity bop boutique, Princess meals or meeting Anna and Elsa?
-
We have an adorable little six year old girl in our community who has been granted an emergency "make a wish" trip due to her terminal heart condition. The family just found out and they are going next week. What is included in these types of trips and what about fast passes? At this late date will they be given special fast passes? I want this to be the most magical time for her and her family. Appreciate any insight into this type of trip.
Golf Cart - Update!
in General Camping Discussion and Questions

We carry insurance on our golf cart and it isn't very expensive. Some campgrounds require insurance. We bought our ramps at Tractor Supply.
