  1. Nancy Spann , another travel agent who lives at the Fort, posted the parade times on Facebook. I'm assuming they're her clients who come every year. They had a parade last night about 7:30 (more informal) and the decorations were great. We've cancelled our dinner plans for tonight so we can see the parade and spend our last night looking at all the fantastic light displays. Anyone coming this month will not be disappointed. Merry Christmas from the Fort!

  2. We always request the 900 loop and usually get the site we request. We like 912, 914 or 915 if we can't the first two. They are in the back of the loop, no one backs up to you and plenty of privacy. Once you get past 915, the campsites are getting close to the group camping area and it can get noisy. Welcome to the group!

  3. This will be the first time we will be bringing the golf cart up in the bed of the truck. I have practice loaded and unloaded it in the driveway on level ground.

Today when I loaded it I back the truck into a shallow ditch and that made it so much easier (read less stressful), is there anywhere at the Fort that could be used like that?

I know out in the parking lot there is a very small dip that I backed the flatbed trailer in to load and unload but not sure how much that little bit will help when it comes to the height of a F250 4×4.

We thought about bringing our linx levelers and building ramps, just like leveling, and driving the front end up to make more of an incline. That being said, the first time we backed the cart out with no incline it scared us to death so now we bring it in a trailer.
  4. Singer is sold.

But I just checked Walmart.com and they have a few basic models for under $100. And like Carol said. If it can do a straight and zig zag stitch it'll be fine. And down the road, if see really likes sewing, we can buy her a nicer machine.

    Don't you think?

I think that's a good plan. It's best to learn the basics on something simple. I'm so impressed your daughter wants to learn to sew, mine never showed any interest.
  5. I have a computerized Singer sewing machine and I really like it, but they can be very tempermental so you need to be patient. They need a very stable, level surface when sewing. You have to thread them just right...sometimes several times before the machine recognizes that you did it right. If you have a good Singer store, I would also take a few lessons just to help learn this machine. There are usually You Tube videos and sewing forums on Yahoo and Facebook that can help with any problems relating to the machine. It looks like it has plenty of good stitches and features to learn how to sew. If you don't like it, you won't have any problems resaling it on Craigslist.

  6. I wasn't sure where to post this, but I need help from people who live in Jacksonville and/or are familiar with the parking at EverBank Field. In your opinion, which parking area would be close to the stadium but easy to get out of at the end of the game? We will be attending the game on Dec. 7 and heading back to Fort Wilderness after the game. Any help would be appreciated.

  7. We have had a class c and are now on our second class a diesel pusher. The one thing we found consistent in all three was the lack of seat belts. It didn't matter what floorplans we had...the only seat belts were on the sofa. It is important to think about what your needs are as a family. We didn't need as much sleeping space on a regular basis, but we wanted comfortable seating for watching tv. When we need more beds, we use air mattresses. Good luck on your search.

  8. One of the campgrounds we went to this summer, which allowed golf carts, charged us $5.00 a day, plus we had to show that we had insurance and that it was street legal and licensed by the city. They only allowed one outside vendor if you wanted to rent and the going rate was $100.00 a day. (But that was the same rate all the outside vendors charged for a four seater) But, it was pointed out to me that it was for a full 24 hours. What a bargain!! It was cheaper to comply with all their requests rather than rent.

  9. Not sure if this is the right place for this or not.

I'm not sure about everyone else's dinette cushions but ours are about 3 inches of flimsy foam. Fine for sitting and having a quick meal but for hanging out on rainy days or sleeping ha forget about it. A while back I bought some upholstery fabric at Joannes on a going out of business sale. Had been planning on making removable covers for both the dinette and couch to save the original fabric and make it easier to clean. After using the dinette as a bed for the first time last month I decided a foam mattress top was a much needed purchase. After a look online I found some of the nice cooling memory foam mattress toppers for a good price on over stock.

Then it donned on me where was I going to store that (18 ft tt). Which got me thinking if I'm already going to make covers why not just cut the memory foam and make add that to the foam that is already there. Making the new covers to fit over both.

Has anyone done this, any suggestions or better ideas?

Why don't you just cut new foam to fit and throw away the old foam. If the memory foam is an inch, buy two inch regular or high density foam to use as a base and put the memory foam on top. Should make comfortable seating and a good mattress for sleeping. Joann's sells all the base foam.
