The DW & I are staying at Rainbow Chase RV Park in Davenport and they have storage for $50/month. It's about 17 miles from the Fort. The place is fenced & gated. The address is 6300 Lake Wilson Road, Davenport, FL 33896. Phone # is 863-424-2688.

Sounds like this off site pickup could make things more difficult if it also includes off site returns. Setting up a meeting when you are getting ready to leave could cause an uncomfortable delay. Glad we bought our own a few years back.
I had planned on returning the cart on the day before we depart the fort even if Kenny was going to pick it up at the fort because I don't want to waiting around on our day of departure to return the cart, so this shouldn't be too much of an inconvenience. Just so Kenny is reasonably punctual.

Last week I booked a Kenny cart for our October trip using Kenny's online form. When Kenny called me to confirm, he said we could meet at an off-property location and I could use his truck & trailer to deliver the cart to my campsite. I said I thought he could deliver the cart to my site and he said he's been getting pressure from Disney to stop on-site deliveries. He said he could probably do it if I didn't want to drive his truck but he seemed very, very reluctant to want to do it. I agreed to meet him off-site and he seemed very relieved.
I've never rented a Kenny cart before so I hope this goes well because we'll be at the fort for 18 nights and we really want a cart.

Be sure to stop by Lowtide Lou's.
We enjoyed a couple of adult beverages at Let's Go Slurpin'. We'll check out your establishment on our next visit. :thewave1:

Then again, I keep forgetting that we, the guests, are the ones who will ultimately pay for the waste. Not Disney.
TCD
Ticket prices go up $4.00 tomorrow. Looks like TCD is right.

We went to Typhoon Lagoon yesterday for a trip down (around) the Lazy River and was pleasantly surprised by the water temp. Does Disney heat the water like they do for the resort pools? If they do, when do they stop?

Yep, that has been the case for the last three years, the long term winter folks check out the Thursday before President's day, cause that's when the higher rates start! Up until this year WWW started on the Thursday before President's day.
Vas ist WWW?

I've been looking at the Fort's rate chart and all I see are daily rates. I've read that some Fiends stay for weeks at a time. Does Disney offer weekly or monthly rates?

I knew someone said they did that before. The remotes must be radio frequency and not infared.
Are some of the remotes IR and some RF? Do you get a choice? I bought a Next Generation Remote Controller Extender off of Amazon that I use with my DirecTV box and it converts the remote from IR to RF. I guess I could use that with the Disney cable box if I had to hook it up in the utility bay.

Sure do. I have the one that Winegard makes that looks like a suit case for when the roof mount doesn't work, but we only have Direct TV SD not HD.
I have DirecTV SD too. That's all I need. I'm not sure what loop I'll get. We're using our DVC points for a premium site and I guess we'll be in a pet loop since I told them we travel with 2 cats. When we were at the fort in October 2012 we were in the 600 loop.

Does the fort allow external sat dishes? I've been thinking about getting a Vu Qube or something like that for when we have a wooded site.
This may also be the push I need to replace my old TVs with new digital flat screens. I'll probably be running into this situation more and more.

Just made an 18 night reservation for October. I can't use my rooftop mounted dish at the fort because of the trees so I depend on the cable, and now I can't even watch cable on my analog TVs without a converter box? The wiring to neither TV is accessable without a lot of work pulling them out so how do I hook up a digital converter box?

I wish I had known about Fort Fiends sooner. I could have used the cart rental information. Just got home from a 10 night stay at the Fort. I wanted to rent a cart but Disney's price was not in the budget. I called one off-site cart rental place but they told me they couldn't deliver to the Fort and I would have to meet them off Disney property and tow their cart on a trailer to the Fort and return the empty trailer to them.
I saw some signs for Fort Fiends while riding my bike through the loops and just now got around to checking it out. I hope to go back to the Fort next year and I'll definately be calling Kenny.
Thanks for the great site.

My wife and I share the gripe of the Daytona Beach annual pass holder. We're snowbirds, spending the winter in an RV park near Disney, and we too are annual pass holders who enjoy going to the parks but find ourselves shut out of fast passes for the better rides. We feel like second class guests when it comes to fast passes.
In addition to being annual pass holders, we're also DVC members, so we've spent a good deal of money with Disney, and all we'd like is a level playing field with WDW hotel guests for fast passes. We've expressed our displeasure with this system to CMs stationed at the FP+ locations and they tell us to let Disney know how we feel, and I would if I knew how.
We're coming to the Fort in October so at least we'll have access to the FP+ system for the length of our stay.
