  1. Just got off with Disney guest services. They told me that was the way the system is designed. AP holders are only allowed 7 FP+ in a 60 period.

So if don't use your FP+ before a resort stay. The system will limit you to just seven days.

I asked what would happen if I stayed with a friend for two days before a 14 day resort stay and I wanted to book a FP+ the day before my arrival. He said since you booked a FP+ before your arrival you would be limited to just 7 days but if you waited to book your first FP+ till the day of your arrival you could book length of stay.

Is it just me or does this make no sense?

I wonder what the system would do if you booked your first FP+ for the day of your arrival, thus triggering the guest scenario, and then tried to book a FP+ for the 2 days prior to your arrival date while you'll be staying with your friend. Would the system then recognize you as an AP holder & allow it or would it think, hey, this guy is a guest & he wants to book a FP+ for a date before he's even here? Bzzzt! No FP+ for you!

  2. We've stayed overnight in the rest areas near St. Augustine a few times, stopping around 8-10pm until about 8am.  The first time we did I made DH go over and ask the officer sitting in the car there if it was ok.  He told us it was fine, just don't put out your slides and setup camp.

I kind of figured this was the case. Like stopping at a Wally World, be a good citizen and don't abuse the privilege and you'll be OK.

  3. We've tried the St. Augustine Flying J but it can be noisy. We like the I-95 rest area just south of Exit 305 (the Flying J exit) but I've heard that Florida limits you to no more than 4 hours in their rest areas. I don't know if that is aggressively enforced or not. We did overnight at the FL Welcome Center north of Jax one time with no hassles.

  4. I've never been to it!!!

It is definitely a great show. We try to see it every time we go. We were really disappointed that it was closed while we were there over the winter. I hope they don't change it too much as part of the move to the new location. During a visit in 2009 for our grandson's 10th birthday, a CM gave us a pass that got us seated in the front row of the bleachers. They were chosen to give the Lion's roar!  We loved it.

  5. Managing expectations on this one will be tough.....  I hadn't heard much about the Under the Sea ride before experiencing it.  You all know how that turned out.

Dave, I couldn't agree more. I had heard rumors that Under the Sea was going to be another under-sea ride like 20,000 Leagues. I couldn't have been more disappointed. At least I used a Fast Pass and didn't have to wait in a long standby line. Since I don't have any young granddaughters, I doubt I'll ever go on a journey with the Little Mermaid again, unless I need a nice, slow, air conditioned on a hot day.  :rofl3:

  6. Sorry to hear about your problem. Welcome to the world of RVing. The fun never ends. It seems like there's always something to fix or replace.

If you can go to an RV dealer near your home who sells hybrids, look at a few of the hybrids to see how the sides are secured. If they use Velcro or some other hook and loop type fastener, then you can buy industrial strength Velcro from Amazon.

    Good luck with your repairs.

  7. Just curious... what times and how many in your party?

Generally if you're willing to eat late (after 9pm) and/or have a "typical" number of people in your party (6 or less?) it's a lot easier to snag ADRs at places like BOG.

After I posted I realized I should have mentioned it's only a party of 2. I know small parties are easier to seat than large ones. The first res is for 8:15 & the second one is for 6:45, both good times.

  8. Bingo.

Also, don't forget your photo ID. You'll have to show that when your MagicBand doesn't work.  But not before waiting on a long line behind other guests with the same problem.

And your Smartphone-so you can take screenshots and prove that you really have the FP+'s that the machines say you don't.

Oh, and if you're at the Fort, you'll also need to carry the blank KTTW card they give you at check in so you can open the Comfort Stations, Laundry Rooms, and Returning Guest Gate.

Otherwise, the $1.5 billion investment in this new technology is really great!

    TCD

I already carry my driver's license to get the merchandise discount & in case a zealous CM wants to see it to get the free parking. Had that happen twice at DAK last winter. No other park. My wife had problems getting admitted to the parks with her AP. There seemed to be a problem with her finger scan. The CMs would ask her what park she last visited before admitting her. Once at the MK she had to show her driver's license & they reset her finger scan. Ain't technology great!

I didn't realize they were still issuing the KTTW cards. I thought the MBs opened the gate & laundry rooms.

I would think that if you purchased an AP onsite, they would issue you a card onsite.

Maybe I'll get a choice if I want a new AP card w/RFID chip or a new Gold Card.

  9. Yippie Mickey!   :jumpforjoy Our AP Magic Bands came yesterday. And our AP Gold Discount cards, which we have to carry if we want the free parking & merchandise discount.  I'm not sure I see the advantage of the MBs if I still have to carry a plastic card in my wallet. I might just as well keep the AP card & leave everything else at home.  We also just ordered our MBs for our stay at the Fort in the fall, so now we're 2/7ths of the way to a complete collection!

When we get our new APs in December, will we get new plastic APs to use for the free parking & shopping discounts? We can't use the gold cards because they are dated to expire in December of 2014. We're going to be in FL for the winter so we're gonna be SOL if they insist on mailing them to our home address.   :flush2:   I know, I know, it's in a testing phase & subject to change without notice. :beathorse:

  10. While I was waiting in the FP+ line at DHS yesterday I was looking at My Disney Experience on my phone & I accidentally found out I could now make FP+ selections on line! When I got to the FP+ screen I mentioned it to the CM assisting us & he said it actually started 2 days before & I should have gotten an email that was sent to all Annual Passholders. I guess my email was intercepted by the NSA, :banghead:  but I don't care because now I'm a lot happier about the whole FP+ system. At least now I don't have to stand in the FP+ Kiosk lines. Me so happy!  :rofl3:
