  1. People that book sites just to get the perks of staying on property - FP+, earlier ADR booking, EMH, etc. - but don't actually use the site.

So they book a site and pay for it but never use it? Do they actually check in? I thought Disney would cancel a reservation after one night if the guest didn't check in.

What a waste. After they book their ADRs and FP+s, couldn't they cancel their site reservation and still keep their ADRs & FPs?  The only thing they'd lose would be the EMH access.  They must really want that EMH access.

  2. With Jason's help (thanks, Jason) I've been able to cobble together an 8 night minus one stay, arriving Friday, Dec. 5, and departing Saturday, Dec. 12. It's actually four separate reservations, and the minus one is Saturday night, Dec. 6. We've been checking daily to see if something opens up, but so far no luck. Jason said that night could be a tuffy to get, because they're filming the MK Christmas Day parade that weekend.

My question is, if we don't get a ressie for the 6th, and we have to depart the CG on the morning of the 6th, will we be allowed to park the MH in the Outpost parking lot for the night of the 6th?  We wouldn't be camping in it, as we have a place to stay nearby, but I'd rather not drive the MH back and forth for one night.

  3. Thanks for the tip.  If they don't want to see F! again I'll call and see if I can change to dinner only.  I wonder if the price goes down without the F! reservation?

Also, I hope they add some more choices to the dinner menu.  When I checked earlier today, the choices were peel and eat shrimp, lobster mac & cheese, Lando's lobster mac & cheese, and some desserts.

Well, I guess we're getting the whole package. They were excited about seeing F! again.

  4. You can call and book dining only.

Be advised that Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Miniature Golf Courses are temporarily closed due to inclement weather (Typhoon Lagoon is still operating). They will reopen to all Guests when it is safe to do so.
Since lightning may be present in the area, all Guests currently visiting the area are encouraged to remain indoors until the storm moves away. Be sure to stay tuned here on OTPN for additional news and updates on this subject.

How can it be safe for TL if BB is closed?

  6. I recently advertised my Honda Reflex scooter for sale on my local Craig's List. My first response was from a guy who wanted to buy it as a "surprise" for his family. His phone number was from an adjacent area code so I thought the offer might be legit.  Next he said he would pay me using PayPal, which I've successfully used before. When he told me his "mover" would stop by to pick up the scooter after the payment cleared, I figured it was a scam and told him to forget it. He never replied to convince me otherwise. I've heard of similar scams where the buyer wants to pay with a cashier's check which turns out to be fraudulent, but I don't know how the fraud would work using PayPal. The deal smelled fishy, though.

  7. I used one last fall. The kit included 2 30 foot coax cables, 1 Ethernet cable, 1 1 foot coax jumper cable, 1 cable splitter, 1 Linksys cable modem, 1 power cord for the modem, and 1 instruction sheet. I think the second 30 foot coax and splitter are included in case you also want to connect to the park cable TV.

I also connected my wireless router to the modem.  Very easy to set up.

  8. I hope you got to see some ponies.  We go to Assateague Island every September & camp in the MD state park, which is the only way to get into the state park. There's always good pony action in the campground.  The adjacent Assateague National Seashore is open to the public (for a fee) & there's good pony action there too.

We visited Wallops Island a few years ago & it was interesting seeing another side of NASA than the one people are more familiar with.

  9. My Father-in-Law gave me these two pictures he found while rummaging through his desk. These were from the week before Christmas, 1994.

Even though I was there, I do not recall a train set in front of the Great Movie Ride around a Christmas Tree. Anyone else remember this? Since the BAH is gone, will this setup make a re-appearance this year for Christmas?

Yes, I remember seeing the train you're talking about. It was at Christmas time at least 10 years ago, probably more, and it was in the grassy area in front of the Great Movie Ride on your right as you walked toward the entrance.
