OMG OMG OMG it is true!  You can now get Dole Whip at Disney Springs!  There is a place called Marketplace Snacks and you must go there and you must get Dole Whip!  Woohoo!

(they never said if they serve rum with it too....I will have to report about this in person if someone does not beat me to it first...)

you are welcome to do so however...

Thanks to Disneyfoodblog.com for the wonderful and beautiful information!

This is HUGE!  Very good news!

  2. Call us crazy (many people do) but we have never booked our reservations more than a couple months out. There is no magic wand to wave, you just have to be persistent about checking back for the dates you need. We tried using a travel agent a couple times but in the end had better success doing it ourselves. But if you don't have the resolve to check back 10 times a day, then you may well benefit from a TA. Honestly I would have zero concern about not currently seeing a Thanksgiving avail for next year. As sure as the sun is gonna shine tomorrow, there will be cancellations and you'll get your dates desired dates.

  3. >The golf cart shenanigans after 10pm has been crazy. The rangers seem to be out and about more, but when you speak with them, they are short and to the point.  The under age drivers seem to be  on private carts so the rangers do nothing.  I believe people in general just care about themselves these days <

I concur. The growing tendency for people to not respect others, and well, just act like morons tests the patience of many of us rule-abiding guests. We received a notice on our windshield last night that our Star Shower lights were on past midnight (shame, shame). And yet you have these a-holes driving around like 12 year-olds. Last night 3 carts went blowing by in front of us at the beach during the fireworks .  Well beyond the sign stating "no carts beyond here" sign. Today 5 carts were driving around, each with 5-plus people / kids honking horns constantly. One of the carts had what sounded like a semi air horn or something. We heard the same idiot blowing the horn right at midnight.

  4. Ah yes, it's that time of year again, when all the giant toddlers come to the Fort to exercise the only way their tiny brains know how to communicate with the others in their tribe by honking the horns on their rented golf carts.  Holy mackerel, DW and I were reflecting on what we love, and don't, about the Fort this time of year, and while November is generally peaceful, Thanksgiving (not unlike spring break time, Halloween, etc)  brings out the golf cart crazies.  While driving to our loop last night we witnessed two carts, after dark, in front of us in our car,  running parallel to each other, honking their horns and trying to take selfies with the other cart in the background.  They sailed right past the hitch/unhitch areas with never a thought to pull over to allow the 5 cars behind them to pass.   I'd be SO in favor of the Fort disabling the horns on all rented carts. And perhaps requiring a basic intelligence test prior to renting the carts. Then there are the ones that fly by our site, going the wrong way and going way,  too fast, sometimes after dark.  Last night someone's dog nearly got run over.  In 90%+ of the cases, these are grown-ass men that should know better, with the balance being teens.

On a more positive note, we made the trek to the MK to do something we've never done in well over a 100 visits, and that was to watch Wishes right up in front of the Castle. It is, of course, mighty crowded.  A couple from from Italy notice we were looking for a place to stand, and they kindly offered a tiny bit of real estate in front of them.    Sometimes it's the little things make a difference.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

But, is the string of lights out? That is the initial question.

Ah yes but in true Fiendish fashion the thread has shifted to much weightier concerns such as, "is the tree even going up this year". But if we must shift this thread back to the string of lights, I'm personally hoping beyond hope that the string of lights will still be out just to watch to ensuing conversation it will spur!

  6. Jingle Bell, Jingle Thud. We went tonite and...what a let-down. By Disney standards, it was quite underwhelming. The laser effects were sorta cool, but it seemed that the fireworks popped up at arbitrary points in the show, almost as if the producers said "the show needs a little more pizzaz about here so lets set off some fireworks.   Super glad we didn't drop. $69 ea. for the dessert party.  I would enjoy 3 meals at Trails End more!

  7. It is indeed frustrating that requests to tend to maintenance issues seem to fall of deaf mouse ears. Shower pressure in mens 500 CS is weak in 3 stalls, overpowering in another and shower head broken. Our biggest gripe this trip has been the audio down at the beach for Wishes. It was almost non-existent the first few days we were here, and now this week it distorts every time Jiminy starts to talk.

And yet...with the various hiccups during this stay we already can't wait to return. So there's that.

I also acknowledge that I have inadvertantly directed this thread back to the original for this post. Sorry about that.
