  1. Welcome.  We have tent camped there a good bit.  Disney does have tents they rent but we have our own.  As for security, we all hope for the best, but know there can be unsavory people anywhere.  We make sure we never leave purses or phones unattended.  Computers and our panini we would lock up in vehicles.  We have not had any clothes, towels, coolers, or chairs bothered by anyone.  (I heard about some swimsuits being taken off a clothesline once, so, yes, it could happen.)  Now, food, yes - if you don't really secure your cinnamon rolls the squirrels will get them.  Lesson learned.  They CAN eat through plastic.

    Welcome to the insanity!

  2. Oh and for informational purposes the Photopass Downloads do not extend to your friends and family for this. From the page where you would purchase your pass.

    Disney PhotoPass Downloads

The Disney Platinum Plus Pass, Disney Platinum Pass and Disney Gold Pass include a benefit that lets you access and download Disney PhotoPass photos captured in your account from the first valid date of your pass until your pass expires. Plus, access and downloading is available after pass expiration for as long as the photo is stored in the system (365 days from date of capture). To start using this benefit, simply link your pass to the Disney account you will use to retrieve photos. Entitlement includes discounted prices on prints and physical product purchases, is non-transferable and benefits do not extend to photos of Family & Friends. Access and downloading is not available for photos captured after pass expiration or after a pass is removed from a Disney account.

Yuck.  We have been dragging our feet about buying the APs since we aren't going until Thanksgiving.  (Getting in gear so we can book

Fastpasses, though.)  This lovely increase will cost us $400. Can't get excited about the parking because we had that with previous APs.  I was hoping the PhotoPass would make me feel better.  Nope.  Can someone enlighten me more?  The way I read it, the photos you were already able to get by going online and accepting will now automatically appear- just stay longer.  You STILL have to pay for anything printable.  That makes it different from Memory Maker that gave you print quality photos included. That means any photos I want to use for Christmas cards I will have to purchase, right?  No money savings there.  I know, I know, it says "discounted".  Not $400 worth, though.

  3. Wow.  This guy's poor family.   :faceplant2:

Now here is what I can't get passed - There was a smell in his room bad enough to call the desk for help.  But, wait, it will be ok until morning.  And for the next few nights we want to extend our stay for.....

Maybe the smell was so bad that it affected his memory about no vacancies.

    Or common sense.

  4. Finally!  PhotoBucket has been driving me crazy.  Here are pics of our newest family member.

Getting hooked up to "Nox" to head home.

Opened up in our carport.  Well, now it is the "camper-port".  :-)

Having camped in a 1970s era PUP and only tent camped for the last few years, we feel like this is a mansion.  The slide out dinette was a must on our list for room, but we had no idea about the possibility for a kitchen bay window.  It really opens up the unit.

We have a few trips planned; can't wait to get started!!!

  5. I agree that your budget will be tricky to manage what you want.  If you go with used just make sure the canvas (newer ones are vinyl) is in great condition.  Stored indoors would be ideal.  Repairs on a used one could easily equal a new one.

Wishing you the best!  We just bought a PUP ourselves  - 2016 Forest River Flagstaff.  Off to post pics.  PhotoBucket has been driving me crazy!

  6. Well, we are the proud owners of a 2016 Forest River Flagstaff Classic 425D!!!

    Pictures will be coming soon.

We did loads of research and took all the info here into consideration.  Though we thought we wanted a Jayco, we could not find any dealers anywhere near us that we could look at and investigate.  Peco Campers (now owned by Campers Inn) in Tucker, GA, is about 90 miles from our home and has an extensive pop up inventory.  We looked at lots!  We had compared the floor plans of Jaycos and Forest Rivers online.  We ultimately decided to go with Forest River because we could get a bigger camper with more amenities and have more dealer/repair places in the areas we would be camping.  We have made a family pact to take extra good care of our new baby.  We won't be using it nearly as much as Curt's pups are used.  That being said, we did take advantage of the 5 year extended warranty offered to us at a very good deal.

We are thankful for the Fiends that suggested Peco.  We were well pleased with the no pressure, friendly sales staff.  The "walk through" today with Travis was fun and very helpful.   There was a miscommunication about double checking what tow package we needed and it led to us spending several hours at the dealership.  However, they were very kind, fed us lunch, and made up for the mishap financially.  We definitely recommend them.  I gave our salesman a Fiends card!  They should know about us!

  7. Awesome info folks!  Thanks!  Keep it coming.

    Go to popup.portal.com.

As Fortfiends is to all things Fort Wilderness, popupportal is your go to site for pop up info.

We have an old Coleman Columbia so I don't have any info on newer ones.

Oooh, good to know.  I peeked at the site - looks like lots of great info.  Thanks!

You also might want to talk with bord1niowa. (curt of fortcamperrental.com). He owns several popups of various brands and sizes. He can at least tell you which of his popups have had the best durability and least problems. They are HEAVILY used in his rental business.

We rented from Curt one time.  It was a great way to see what was in the newer (read - not 1970s) models.  IF I remember right he told me then that the Jaycos held up best.  He could chime in again, though, if he has time....    ;)

    Another great forum is http://www.popupportal.com/index.php?action=forum

What is your TV? things like slide outs and highwalls add a lot of weight. Usualy when you add a slide, they come with toliet and shower which takes up a lot of space and addes more weight.

We will be towing with an F150 crew cab.

I have seen a few with a cabinet for a cassette toilet.  That would be my preference.  I am not sure I want the shower/humidity inside the camper.  Most places we would stay would have comfort stations.

    Two things:

    -Stay away from Camping World!

-Three Way Campers in Marietta, Ga is WONDERFUL!!   They sell Jayco PUPS :)

Thrill is concerned about dealing with Camping World.  We haven't heard a lot of good things about them, sadly.  We'll have to check out Three Way.

Thursday we take delivery of a 2015 Aliner Expedition.  http://www.aliner.com/campers/expedition/

I hope you enjoy it for years to come!

  8. Yahoo!!!  Thrill has finished writing his dissertation and, while we are awaiting defense, presentation, and conferral, we are ready to start shopping!!!    :jumpforjoy

So, Here is what we need from our Fiends:

Who here has had a pop up camper?

    What brand was it?

What were the pros and cons of that brand?

Even if you haven't had a pop up, what dealers have you dealt with in Georgia, Alabama, or Florida?

Any with super great service?  Any to avoid like the plague?

    Here is what we know:

We definitely want a NEW pop up (not A line).   Thrill's family had one for almost 40 years.  We loved it.   It is what will work for our family.  We prefer having a slide out dinette.  Shower/toilet not really on the list.

We have heard good things about Jayco, but there seems to be a limited supply.

    Bring on the advice!
