  1. Site 2020 - October 2007

The site request gods smiled on me this trip!!  We're in site 2020 again and here are the pictures!!  We have my little camper, a 13x13 tent, 4 EZ-Up Shelters, and my friends' little cargo trailer is in the driveway also.  We parked the trucks up front.  The comfort station is right across the street.  I didn't even try to back in as the garbage/recyle cans are right across the drive.  I pulled up, unhitched, and pushed :-)

I don't back up :parrot: so quite easy when I disconnected the utility trailer and pushed it in

No drop off from the "pad" was able to extend the edges of the tents outside the pad.

    13x13 Coleman 3 room tent

    2 10x10 EZ-Up type shelters

    2 9x9 dome tents

1 11x9 collapsible shelter over grill (where I put the mini fridge and parked the ECVs)

Brought it all down in a Ford Explorer Sport Trac and a 5x8 utility trailer.  My camping companions were only down for a few days and they flew in.

The comfort station was directly across the street and down a short path.

  3. Which hotel are you staying at Carol?

You just gave me an idea!  If we have a few people that would like to come in the night before and stay by the port, maybe I can negotiate a cheaper rate with the hotel manager!  Anyone interested?

I dunno Rhonda. I think when we first booked I did a search on wyndhamrewards.com (my preferred hotel chain) and found something for around 80 that included parking and a shuttle.

I'll search again and let you know. (I may stay on points and then ask the hotel directly about parking).

  4. I'm pretty close....

    I think I'm missing

    Victoria & Alberts

    House of Blues

    Wolfgang Puck

    Fresh (Swolphin)

    Toy Story Pizza Planet

Epcot - The New Mexican Place and Tutto Itallia, (but have eaten at the previous Alfredo's)

    Jiko

    Shula's (Swolphin)

    BlueZoo (Swolphin)

    Mickey's Backyard Barbecue

    Il Milino (Swolphin)

    Polo Campero

    Fresh A Peel

    Paridiso 37

OK, so there were more than I thought.

Also, I'm sure there are serveral snack stands I haven't visited.

  5. I'll second that recomendation!!  We had a sortof anniversary dinner there last year.  The service was impeccable, the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was WAAAAY less hectic than California Grill.

We had a bar drink apiece, Rick had the Surf & Turf and I had a seafood dish (don't rember exactly).  Everything was EXCELLENT. We also had a bottle of Fess Parker and shared a desert and saw the fireworks right from our table. I'm sure we also had an appetizer. (I always have any type of seafood chowder any restaurant has on their menu!!)

Our bill with TiW was about $200, BUT it was worth EVERY PENNY!!!

  6. Some folks think Free Dining is the end all in great deals, but I found a deal that beats this hands down, and it is offered ALL of the time.

Ever heard of Disney's Premium Plan or Disney's Platinum Plan??  Those plans have all the meals included, lots of tours included, LaNouba is included and the list goes on and on!!!

    Premium Package Details: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_us/PDF/2011Premium.pdf

    Platinum Package Details: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_us/PDF/2011Platinum.pdf

Now obviously, the intent is to book the package for an entire week. With a week on this package, a family cannot possibly get their money?s worth and visit the parks also.

However, for Disney veterans that want to add something special to their trip there is a way to get a huge, albeit tiring bang for their buck!!!

The key is to book the Premium Plan or the Platinum Plan for just one night!!

Disney counts your stay as from the time you check in until midnight of the day you check out.  So for a one-night premium plan, you get two full business days of unlimited tours, 3 Premium meals, and a ticket to LaNouba!!

Only a 1-day ticket purchase is required, so if you have annual passes, then just put that ticket away for future use.

The Premium Plan can be booked at ANY level of resort INCLUDING THE CAMPGROUND.

To be really effective, this needs to be done in the middle of your trip.  Room only in the beginning, Premium Plan in the middle, then switch back to room only.  Book the same level of room/campsite for all, so you don?t have to move.

Although I didn?t get to do this, because my trip was cancelled, here is how I was going to address my 1-night Premium Plan.

I would arrive at my campsite late one night after driving on a Friday with a 3-night room only reservation.

    Saturday, set up camp.

    Sunday, chill around the campground.

    Monday, Premium Plan reservation starts.

6:00 am - Arrive at Outpost for package elements and new KTTW

7:00 am - Bus to Epcot (If bus is not there by 7:05, take taxi to Epcot)

7:45 am - Epcot Segway Tour

10:00 am - Bus to Animal Kingdom

    (Single Rider Line on Everest)

11:45 am - Lunch at Tusker House

    12:45 pm - Backstage Safari (3 hours)

4:30 ? Free Round of Mini Golf

9:30 pm - Hoop De Doo

    Tuesday

6:45 boat to Contemporary or WL, use snack credits for breakfast.

7:45 - walk or boat to Magic Kingdom

8:30 - Keys to the Kingdom

    1:30 - Walk to Contemporary

2:00 - 3:30 Sammy Duvall - Parasailing, JetSki, Water Mice

3:30- Boat to Campground - Change Clothes

4:00 Drop by Outpost and pick up new room key for the rest of my room only reservation (package elements are still good though on previous card)

    4:30- Bus to DTD

    6:00 - LaNouba

    7:40 - Fulton's Crab House

8:40 - Bus to Yacht/Beach area, walk to Epcot

9:30 - Illuminations Special viewing area

My total cost for all of this:$313.73 (for one person, based on 2011 pricing). That included a campsite I was going to be paying for anyway, a 1-day ticket, that I was going to use to upgrade to an annual pass.

The al a cart price for all of this if I had booked separately ? at least 800.00

So how?s that for a discount!!

This is only one sample itinerary.  Take a look at what is included, book early, and time out your favorites taking into account transportation. (For example, I know one family that would book three or four fishing tours per day )

Yes, this is tiring.  It is NOT for amateurs that have never visited the parks.

I would not recommend this for families with young children.

You also have to know Disney pretty well, know the transportation system, or have your own vehicle.

I also mentioned the Platinum Plan.  This is also a great deal and offers some additional tours & Victoria & Alberts, BUT you have to stay in a premium resort for one night at rack rate.  That is a deal buster for me, but many others love the premium resorts.

By the way, the best person to help you book this is!!

Rhonda, our very own Roz!!  [email protected]

  7. I stayed there for one night once.  It was awesome!!!  I was there to make sure I could walk to the Studios for when they had the "Walk In and Win" day for Millionaire.  I was upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite.  That was awesome!!  I spent the evening in the hot tub!!

Like I said it was for one night, and I had to be out the door at 4:30 AM to get in line to try to get on Millionaire.

(Didn't even get my number drawn, but I did get some tickets to the Millionaire tapings and saw Meredith Vierra in person).

    It was a fun experience.

  8. So far I've stayed at:

Amy's South Georgia Campground at Exit 60 in Georgia (Only so, so)

Forsyth KOA, just South of Atlanta (Not to bad, level pull throughs, nice bath house)

Eagle's Roost RV Resort, Exit 5 in Georgia, This is a good one! https://www.eaglesroostresort.com/

When Rick comes with me, we usually stay in a hotel on the way down.  We usually stop at the Ramada at Exit 62.

www.wyndhamrewards.com is my favored chain of hotels for when I'm on the road.

  9. Unfortunately, we are not in for Halloween right now.  With a full week for the 4th, some T@B camping committments, and the cruise, we're gonna hold off on Halloween this year.

Although the T@B folks are planning a big shindig at St. Augustine for Halloween, then many of them are coming over to the Fort afterwards. If all the stars align, maybe, but it's not looking good.

  10. I painted the trim on my camper.  Fortunately it is plastic and removable.  It was bright red.  A couple of cans of Rustoleum Paint for Plastic did the trick.

Then I got some Blue vinyl and did some Mouse Ears, and our name, then our beloved Jenn made me a Musket Mickey with some of my vinyl

    http://mouseketab.blogspot.com/2007/08/what-was-red-is-now-blue-and-mouse-ears.html

The good thing about this is if I ever do decide to sell, I just take a blowdryer to the vinyl, change out the cabinet knobs, and then it is generic T@B again (but custom Blue)

  11. I am at Disney now by a weird fluke of work, travel, and weather.

Rick (and now me) are showing a good friend of ours around Disney and her 2yo grandson.  This child has been a total delight to be with and we are having a Grand time.  But, having never had stroller aged children at Disney, never realized what a pain in arse it is!!!

Put the child in the stroller, take em out for every line, find the stroller parking.  Trying to decide if you want to deal with squirmy butt for even a 15 minute line, then once you get off the attraction, trying to find where Disney has moved the stroller.

[move][glow=red,2,300]So for all you parents of little ones at Disney I salute you!!!!!!![/glow][/move]
