  2. Directions to WDW/Ft. Wilderness from I-75

    I-75 S

Get off at exit 328 (approximately 140 miles from Georgia/Florida State Line, approximately 107 miles from I-10)

Travel on Florida Turnpike to Exit 267A (429S) (approximately 42 miles)

Travel on 429S to Exit 8 (Disney World/Hartzog Rd) (approximately 14 miles)

This road will take you to West Buena Vista Dr near Coronado Springs.

Turn right if going to All-Stars or Animal Kingdom Lodge, turn left if going anywhere else, then follow the Disney signs to your destination.

Tolls on the main Turnpike will be $2.50 for a standard vehicle. (More if pulling a trailer).

Tolls on 429S to Disney World will be just $1.00 as the Disney World Exit doesn't appear to charge a toll.

(I based the mileage on the exit numbers as they coincide with mile markers).

  3. Where can I park a golf cart??

    There is golf cart parking:

On the driveway at your site

    Near the marina

Near Trails End and the Hoop de Doo

Near the Meadows Recreation Area and Campfire/Movie

    Near the Outpost Bus Stop

    Near the Settlement Bus Stop

There are plug-ins for charging the golf cart at the parking near Trails End and near the marina.

There are plug-ins for charging the golf cart at the parking near Settlement bus stop

There are NO plug-ins at the parking near Outpost

Unknown if there are plug-ins at the parking near the the Meadows Recreation Area/Campfire/Movie

    RE: Reservation # xxxxxxxx

I am really looking forward to my stay at the Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground and am writing about campsite requests. I do understand that these are only requests and cannot be guaranteed.

If possible, I would like a site in Loop xxxx with a site that will accomodate the following: (list your "stuff" here) and near (whatever you want to be near).

Thanks so much for your help, and once again I?m really looking forward to my visit to Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground.

If you have any questions, I can be reached at xxx-xxx-xxxx or by email at [email protected]

    Sincerely,

  5. So, in that case, it sounds like if you get on the Studios bus from Outpost??

You got it Carol. I never doubted it.

If you have absolutely nothing to do some morning, catch the DHS bus at the Outpost. Make sure you verify with the driver that they operate out of the MK hub. In other words, that they are a Magic bus. And you thought I was one of a kind. They should be, but nothing is ever 100% with the buses. Get on and don't get off. You'll stop at DHS, go to another resort from there, and return to the MK. Just make sure you tell the driver you're not getting off at DHS and that you're going to MK, the long way. They'll think you're nuts, but it'll be Ok.

Well, until you told me they shared hubs, I didn't know.  So what resort do they go to after they leave Studios??  Is that standard??

  6. You can get back.  Somewhere around 12:30 am the DTD buses start asking you where you are going and will take folks directly back to their resort.  You may stop at several resorts, but you will get back.

For example, I left that area about 1:00 am one time.  I was taken to PI, but then was taken to the Fort by way of private van.

  7. Yuck....

You know I just realized why the 2000 Loop never used to bother me.  The last time I tent camped there, PI and Adventurer's Club was still open, so I was usually out at PI and didn't come in till about 1:30 - 2:00 am, by the time I had my shower and a bit of decompressing, it was usually pretty quiet even with the Scouts there.

There's nothing left open after 10pm so I'm there when the kids are still rowdy.

Hmmmm, maybe I need to start spending my nights at Jellyrolls!!!

  8. Since busses don't necesarily go back to where they came from, couldn't you just get on one and eventually it would end up at the Magic Kingdom?

No, but your line of thinking is on the right track.

All buses operate out of one of four Hubs, MK, DTD, AK, & Epcot. Where's DHS, you might ask? They mooch off of the other Hubs.

    That's a big clue.

So, in that case, it sounds like if you get on the Studios bus from Outpost??

  9. I LOVE the Fort Wilderness Comfort Stations.

However, as I do go around to a few other campgrounds, I am finding some of the newer private ones are starting to develop private unisex "bathrooms" I've seen some where since they are fairly new they rival and/or exceed the cleanliness and/or niceness of the Fort.  However, most of these places have been small operations and probably used residential fixtures and sources which will not hold up to constant abuse.
