True story, every time I look at this thread my stomach growls. Not even just an "that looks tasty" or a "I sure am hungry" thought, but an honest-to-goodness physical growl. I was okay this time until I saw that fajita and it did me in. YUM! Guess it's lunch time!

Another great beach campground (this one on the west coast) is Crystal Cove in Tofino, British Columbia. It's on the far west side of Vancouver Island and the scenery just doesn't get much prettier (unless maybe you've been to New Zealand? I'm guessing that might beat it). The campground itself is nice with beautiful landscaping and very clean facilities, but the best part is the private beach where your dog is welcome. That doesn't seem to be as common these days. http://www.crystalcove.ca/ And you can surf here, if that's your thing.

This is one heck of a solid idea. I propose a caravan!

Is this Florida-specific? Because my favorite beach campground is in mid-coast Maine. :) Searsport Shores in Searsport (Not too far from Mt. Desert Island) http://www.campocean.com/ The campground is clean, quiet, well organized, and gives off the general aura of what the Maine coast should/used to be. Really fantastic lobster bake on Saturdays, wide and secluded beach for exploring, and the owners genuinely care if you are having a good time, but don't trouble you about it. It's not a party spot for anyone....it's a quiet and peaceful spot for families. Feels very reverent of nature.

In the private plane we'll purchase with our booty. We'll paint Snarky on the tail fin.

Looooooove Ebates. Highly recommend signing up (using nacole's link in first post). I start all my online shopping there, Especially when I'm booking flights or hotels. you can usually find a big discount (in the form of cash back) when you book your travel that way! Cartwheel used to be better than it is now, but I still use it almost always when going to Target.

Holy cow. That is gorgeous. I feel like I need to go to Disneyland, just so it makes sense to have it. But wouldn't it have been cool if half the stones had been blue and the other half pink?

Highly recommend Donnie, too. We've rented from him twice (once in a last minute emergency situation) and had a great experience both times. Glad to hear he's still going!

Still here! :D I get a little sad after a trip to the Fort (especially when no future visit in on the horizon) and typically avoid things that trigger post-trip-wistfulness. Although we did watch the live-stream of the MK fireworks last night, so I'm thinking my mourning period is at an end. Now that it's 2015, I'm thinking of all the other camping trips I need to get booked for the year and of course, all the work Polly Luna needs to be ready for said camping trips. Wanted to post up a photo of the fill up just before we hit the road on the ill-fated journey. Isn't she pretty? Can't wait to camp in her next spring. Also, an update... Donnie came through for us with a camper, so the trip is 100% still on. One more reason to love this place. :)

We made it back home safely. After some troubleshooting we can say that the issue was absolutely caused by crud in the gas tank. Once the crud settled, Polly was running smoothly again. She is so comfy to ride in, I can't wait till we can do an actual trip in her. :) We're just hanging out at home today and tomorrow and we're going to fly into MCO on Wednesday. Working on renting a camper so that I don't have to let go of my reservation at the Fort. We'll make this happen somehow. :)

Ray, I would definitely consider flying in a renting from a sponsor. We've actually done that before. :) I'm just worried about availability so late in the game.

Okay, folks, so we didn't make it too far last night, only 2.5 hours. At first things were going great, Polly was running as better than she ever has and Josh said you could really feel all the work we put into her in the way she drove. We got a couple hours from home and we noticed we were at a half tank so we stopped and topped it off. This turned out to be a big mistake. Over the years, sediment/rust particles/whatever had gotten into the tank when we stirred it up with the new gas, it clogged our brand new fuel filter. We lost power, started overheating, and pulled over. Luckily,

Well, folks. We pulled it off. Tomorrow afternoon Polly Luna will pull out of my in-law's driveway to start her slow and winding way to the Fort.
