hoping everything is okay. get that surgical site stitched back up and wear the cone. i know it sucks to make them wear it. i hope the pup is better soon.
-
for the most part-it really doesn't matter-i'm at the fort! but, i do prefer premium sites..
-
haha.. never too early. we've arrived pretty early most times we go down. we park in over flow and take the golf cart off and loop around. i'll tell you the campground is soooo quiet in the middle of the night. :) heck-go have breakfast while you wait for your site. you're there-enjoy it!
have a great trip-wish i was going....
-
thanks! we were definitely ready to get home. but, it wasn't because of getting home as much as we knew Duke (our dog) wasn't doing good. we knew enough to know we needed to be near our vet.
just hopping in a vehicle and going are some of the best trips. the may not be the best of times but they are always remembered. it helps when you have a camper that you can just pull over and sleep where you want vs having to set up. we are done with the west coast for a while. my next major trip i want to do is the upper east coast. dc is about the farthest that way we have been. we did that and have driven the east coast down to the keys. but, never the northern east coast.might be a few years for that one. but--then again----you just never know when that urge will hit us! lol

oh that sounds so neat to do. i don't know if i'd ever do a full marathon. i've done some 5k's and wouldn't mind upping it to some 10k's and maybe eventually a half. i like that you dressed as tigger. he's my fav! although-the incredible couple sounds really cool, too. lol
i do prefer cooler weather for 5k's though. i did one a few year ago on new years eve--in wisconsin! i was worried about the temp but, it was around 40. it was a perfect temp-cause once you start to run it feels 15 degrees warmer. :) really, it does.
it's neat to hear how disney sets up their races. i would love to do one sometime when we are down. you should be proud-you've done 38 marathons! that's great! i wish i could be that motivated. can't wait to hear about the next one. :)

very cool... i like jasmine, rapunzel and aurora. they have some really neat designs and some pretty high prices. so, instead of a ring-i'll take a trip to the fort instead-thank you very much! :)

this is the big city of keystone. just outside of custer state park and mount rushmore. this town is packed in the summer. as you can see we owned it when we visited. lol i'm not sure if they still offer helicopter rides but, they used to. it would be (if you didn't mind heights) a neat way to view mt rushmore.
Yup-an ATV parked on the street. I always think it's neat when you can use your toys daily. :)
some scenery pics. yeah-i know. can you believe another tunnel! :)
i'm not sure where this is but it was on the way home and in south dakota.
should've stopped to get some of this...
we pulled off the highway in "some town" and these statues were on each corner of this intersection. again-no idea where we were but, it was a clean town. :)
The sunsetting behind us.
THAT'S IT!! my tr is finally over. lol a two week trip took me months to tell you about but i did it! we accomplished a lot and never had a reservation. if you can go before memorial day or after labor day--highly recommend it. thanks for tagging along and hope you enjoyed it!

some interesting pics and information...

what they said... :rofl2:

sorry can't tell you. the new folks have to make some guesses first! :rofl3:

i agree that it's kind of a personal choice. but, if she could exchange it if she doesn't like something about it. i say it would be worth a shot. or just get her a gift card so she can pick out the one she wants???
me personally-dh knows not to buy me anything. i just buy what i want (within reason) and he buys what he wants... its a win win!
-
very good tr! my dh would love to go to that museum. i'd almost have to leave him there on his own. lol loving the pics so far!

pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=mickey%20decals
i'm not sure if your on pinterest but, it's easy to join and there is a lot there. i just found these. not sure if they work for what you want. but, take a look around on there. you might find something good. or just search for coloring book images of what you are looking for..

okay--i'm sold on not being in a gated community. HOA's are just there to give old people something to do. :rofl2: geesh... i hope it works out for you lorna! does it say anything in the rules about having to pick up your dogs doo... you could just let the lil guy do his duty in the complainers yard.

Judy-i've been curious about yosemite, too. makes me want to get on a plane and go see it--not! lol-i don't fly-but, anyone else can go and get some pics so we can see the before and after. :)
glad you liked the pig tail bridges, tcd. they are pretty neat to drive on.
i should be wrapping this up soon.
-
a few more critter pics. did i tell you there was an abundance of wildlife on this journey. :) dave-the animals probably think we're a bunch of idiots and we should leave their area. lol
tcd--photos are on the way of mt rushmore. :) yes, gwen the storm was pretty intense looking.
here is view number one of mt rushmore..
then we have the tunnels that are in custer state park. there are ways to get into custer without going through the tunnels if you feel your rig is too big. we always know the height of our rig and have always been able to drive through them.
another view of mt rushmore..
a tunnel...i believe there are 3 in the park all on this side.
and what's on the other side of the tunnel--yup another view of mt rushmore.
i believe this is one of our last family photos. i'm so glad i take a lot of pictures when we travel. mt rushmore is in the background here. this is a very pretty area but, on a normal summer day it is packed with people. we only had one other couple there at the same time as us and they looked and left. :)
here is a little information on the pigtail bridges--probably can't read it. but, hey, i tried. lol it's the best i could do to show the bridges. just take pics as we went around and around it... lol
then we headed out of the park..
and we come across this. i made dh back up to get a better pic. this has been out here for a long time. i have pics of it from previous trips but, it is so funny-i had to get it again. do you see it?
how 'bout now?
it's just neat to see some people have a sense of humor. lol

Here are some pics of the campground we stayed in. Again-we didn't have any reservations for any place we went. At this time of the year we had our choice of sites and very few tourists to deal with.
on our way into the campground these guys were hanging around in a field.
this is the site we chose..
and we didn't have to wait very long to see the deer come up for a visit right behind our site.
the next morning we head out and first thing we come across are more bison.
barkley decided he needed a better view of the outside world...
DH decided he should go out and get a pic with the mh and the buffalo...
all for now-i hope you enjoy the trip so far.
-
so here are some critter pics!
some cabins you can rent if you don't want to take your camper...
-
thanks-glad you like the pics..
as we go further into south dakota we see more old cars/trucks.
and i had to take this photo for carol. :)
this seemed like it might be an interesting place to stop and do some wine tasting. lol
we enter the custer area.
and another of my favorite places to visit:
why would a state park in south dakota be a favorite spot of mine? well-the views of mount rushmore are awesome. as most people know mount rushmore was created and will always be free to visit. oh-but, now they have built the parking area and are charging for parking. so, if you've been there and want to avoid the parking fee-visit custer state park. yes, there's a fee to visit but you can get so much out of visiting the park. the views, the pig tail bridges, the tunnels and of course the animals. because we were out and about in early may--the animals were there for the picture taking..

Aaron, that was a rainbow. We saw a lot of rainbows on this trip. We never got into any major-have to stop storms. But, what we saw looked wicked. A little sleet here and there in the mountains.
The groundhogs were hard to get a pic of. I would see them race across the road or field and pop into a hole. They're fast little varmints! lol
-
that's cute. not sure about the ears. try it and if you don't like it remove them. you could have that one kid hold mickey balloons??
-
now this part of the trip was probably the one that well---freaked us out the most. we were cruising down the highway in nowhere land--really it was nowhere land. it was between the flaming gorge in utah and custer state park in sd. the last exit was about 8-10 miles back and all it had was a gas station. all we are seeing on the road are semis. when we come across the sky looking like this....
so, we pulled off the highway as you can see in the pics and debated turning back to sit the storm out at the gas station we passed a ways back. but, in the mean time i tried the phone internet to look up the weather. i get nothing.. suck butt! now what-turn back or go. the trucks are going into it. so, we make a call to a fellow fiend who was so extremely nice -- they looked up the weather and said it was a storm just sitting on the highway it was only about a 2 mile swatch. there was nothing severe. REALLY! if you could see it - you wouldn't believe that!
alright-we'll go ahead. they were right-we were out of it in a very short distance. but, man, did it freak it us out!
-
A few more pics from our trip.. I kept missing the woodchucks. They were everywhere.
Most of these pics are from down by the dam of the flaming gorge.
i finally got a good pic of one of the woodchucks.
the visitor center--don't ask me what it all has. i've never gone inside. with the views outside why go in??
this pic i was trying to catch the road on the side of the mountain and how it looked on the side of the mountain. this is the road we would be on after we crossed the dam.
the views of the dam from the other side-on our way out.
a storm was rolling in so -- we started to roll out.
it caught us. nothing like a sleet storm up in the mountains. white knuckle driving for a little while but it didn't last long and we were out of it.
some deer...
and i decided we needed an elevation pic!
-
very cool.. i love your tr and the pics were great! there are so many beautiful places to see here. on one of our road trips we made it to Jasper--it was our half way point to Alaska from Wisconsin. I still think we could of done it but, we decided to head back. Yeah, that's how we roll... go and see where the road takes you. I do know where we were--when the roads were flat: we had wind. It was a cross wind and it was wicked. The roads weren't bad to this point but, a cruise might be a better way to see this area. I'm still set on taking the drive someday.
I love your pics. It looks like you guys had a great time.

i don't know if this is pinned or whatever for a quick find. but, jen or chris could we maybe have that for the camping with pets discussion. Either this thread or the other one that was started a while back. I would really appreciate it and i'm sure quite a few others would too. thanks!
hoping to hear that the pup is doing well.
