so---what dates did ya'll decide on for this? starting to think it might just be a possibility...might. :)
-
that''s what i thought they were-ski jumps. there are numbers toward the bottom-must be measurements. thanks-glad you are liking the pics. i think anywhere along the rocky mountains is just breath taking. more to come in a few days...
-
i like the ones kelly and mo have. but, i would never be able to sit in one of those. the pups would always be in them! i'm not a fan of those lounge ones-not sure why. but, interesting to see what's available and who likes what.

some how i think i missed the pic from the olympic mountain... lol so, here it is. it was really cool to see this and be right there by it. still not sure what the track was.
sorry about the window reflections in some of the pics.
where are we heading next? can't tell you yet. but here are some great views we had on the road.
okay--here we are! my most favorite place to visit. the flaming gorge in utah. if you ever go this way you must go here. it is beautiful and not over crowded. most people camp here at the rivers (gorges) edge. but we prefer the sites up above. the views are AWESOME! this trip was early in the year and the campgrounds weren't open. but the wildlife was out and about.
there was a big cave in the side of the mountain. i think it was a bat cave! would've been neat to stick around until dusk to see if there bats but--had things to do.
-
what is the chair that you like to take camping. we prefer just plain old lawn chairs. they're lightweight and comfortable. we've tried others and always go back to these.
i know some prefer hammocks but, lets see what you have and how much you like them...
-
that would of been cool to take the kids to dtd. but, i don't like pics with santa. santa is never right. i prefer to have a tree or decorations in the backdrop. :) but, your pics turned out really nice. at least santa has an expression on his face. :)

haha.... can't wait. the cool snow looks so refreshing. ahhhh..man it's hot up here!

yup-i'm in. great tr so far. upgraded flight-very cool! congrats on the baby and can't wait to read--well see more pics! lol

that's a really cool tunnel. someday we'll get up there. we made it half way on a trip we took-got to banff before turning back to head home. going to alaska wasn't the plan but, we had gone through yellowstone and glacier on the trip and thought-hey lets go north. lol
glad you are enjoying the pics aaron and everyone else that's sticking around. we live in such a beautiful country and the national parks are so breath taking. i don't care much for bridges - since the minnesota collapse. most - i just want to get over them as fast as we can. but, i love how the architecture on the bridges looks today and the outside of the tunnels can be really neat too. i don't fly so i guess a bridge is as high off earth as i am gonna get! :rofl3:

Bonneville?
yes, it was. i had to google map it. we had gone across 80 and that would be what we passed--bonneville. Thanks Dave! :)
Lynn, i think taking pictures helped because i was looking into the camera instead of realizing what we were doing. :rofl3: the ones in san fran were the ones i was most worried about but, i did handle it quite well..

Thanks to Jen and Chris. After writing out a tr insert I got kicked off the site. :banghead: But have no fear when I got back on there was a saved button--I clicked it and there was at least a part of my tr! :jumpforjoy
So, thanks to them for having a save action that I didn't know about. :)
Next-- we came across the salt flats. Dh said this is where a lot of speed records are broken. Kinda cool to see.
We stopped at a Walmart in Park City, Utah. The people here were really nice and all were joking around with each other. We asked if we could stay and they said no problem. It was really clean and in the mountains. In the morning we saw this on the side of the mountain. I had to zoom in to see what it was. It is some track for the Olympics. Do you know if this is a downhill ski track?

Here's a photo of a little town on the way out of the yosemite area. just kinda cool looking.
some views...
at first i thought this was the coolest road name evah!!! but now that i think about it--i wouldn't want to live on this street. lol
i tried to get a pic of another old vehicle. hard to do on the freeway.
there's a koa behind this casino. the casino looked neat from the outside but, we didn't dare leave the pups in the camper here. to far away and nothing around. this was the koa in boomtown, nevada. nothing spectacular but a place to sleep..
TUNNELS!! :)
the mountain areas were definitely still stormy when we went out there. but, it was so nice-no one else on vacation yet and not too hot or too cold..
casinos all over in nevada...

There is so much to see in Yellowstone and it's also a place you have to be careful. When we were there we saw people taking off on foot across a field so they could see the (elk? buffalo?) up close. There were also people stepping off the board walks onto unstable surfaces in an attempt to get the perfect picture. Good way to fall through and get seriously burned or worse.
One of the neatest things we saw was the head of the buffalo herd stepping into the middle of the road and staring down the cars until every last member of his herd crossed the road safely. He then ambled off with the herd.
Sorry to hear you had issues with he camper; but, it also sounds like you made lots of memories.
if you go there around labor day you will see the elk moving their herds. they also go out into the road and let the others get across. but, what was neat with them is that they go back around the herd to make sure they are all across. it is really neat to see and the bugling is so cool to fall asleep to. love the tr and very sorry about all your troubles. it happens to the best of us. glad you stuck it out and dealt with it as best you could.
yellowstone is just one of the many national parks we are able to enjoy and everyone should take the time to visit them. great tr!

love it! we have breakfast on the farm up here. each county has one at the beginning of summer. i love going and really think all kids should be taken to stuff like this. thanks for sharing.
-
hope everyone is safe and no damage to anyones rigs.. :)
-
very cool!

here i thought you could eat and then erase the calories.... :rofl3:

this sounds good and no sour cream in it! lol i will be trying this. :)
-
sounds good but i don't do sour cream.

thanks for the parade and food pics! we missed the parade and fireworks this year. we headed up north - a 3.5 hour drive normally--took us 21 hours. lol too tired to watch the fireworks and completely missed the parade. but i got to see the parade in your town. i want to know - how much candy did the kids get? :)
thanks for sharing.

sorry it's taking me so long. we did a lot on this trip. thanks for sticking with me on this adventure...
Here's a couple pics from our site in yosemite. it was a nice area to camp. we've never stand in the valley before.
this is for those adventurous folks. lol a rock just for those of us who want to say we went rock climbing in yosemite! :)
these are pics of bridal veil falls. you can hike to it but, it was really busy so we opted not to.
our rig by bridal veil falls.
one of the really cool bridges down in the valley.
another deer that wanted to say hi to us..
another family photo. we had walked over to curry village and decided to take the pups. the strollers are awesome. the dogs don't chase wild life and people don't step or kick them. it's like a kennel on wheels. yeah, the pic is a little crooked-it's another rock balance pic. lol
another tunnel that we came across on the way out of yosemite.
and one last view!

cool! i can't wait for more!

i would love to give you a GAG at that time. but, for some reason i won't be there then... lol wish i was!
-
he will be an excellent dog for you. it's funny though, when i take in a dog someone doesn't want anymore i have to ask some questions. i'd like to know the real reason for giving the dog up and many times the owner won't say. it sucks--because it could be something easy to work with or maybe not. but, you have to just stop asking questions when they start to not talk much anymore. you can tell they are getting agitated with you.
the one thing i don't want is them to just throw the dog to the side of the road-so to speak. Even if it's a humane society-it can harm the dogs social life. so, i just shut-up and take in the dog.
i'm glad that pup found you--he must've sniffed you out!

Here's a few more reasons i love the flaming gorge!
It sometimes takes a few pics to get "the right picture". lol I can't always make that 5 second delay! :)
The buck-first pic-was blurred. I tried to catch him. What a stance he had when he crossed the road..
In May we still had snow on the ground in the higher elevations.
Some critters...
This lake was occupied by dozens of Mallard pairs. It was really cool. I tried to get a pic of them-but it didn't work.
This is the camping that is available at this elevation. We like it up here-less people and lots of wildlife as you can see. But at this time of year the sites weren't open, yet.. But the animals were out. These guys were right by the road we drove in on and never moved. When we drove back out they were still there. I think we only saw 2 other cars drive down the road with us and they were just heading out to see the view of the gorge.
Here is the view we were looking for. The gorge is huge and really, really beautiful.
This is what the dogs do when we stop somewhere. Barkley, Louise and Thelma checking out the stop. Duke isn't in this photo because he was hurting. He was either on my lap or on the chair by himself.
Coming back down the road the goats were moving about..
Like I said the Flaming Gorge in Utah is a really awesome place to visit. If you want less crowds stick to the higher elevations. If you want to play in the water go low. I also believe you will see more wildlife up high.
